Volume 6 Chapter 6 The Graduation Ceremony, Why Does It Make Me So Sleepy?
Randy and the others, having parted ways with Julius and Livia, were to be delivered to the Marquis family's villa in the royal capital by Cecilia's carriage.
Since the Hartfield family's villa, where Cecilia lived, was also in the same noble town, it was a convenient arrangement.
Upon arriving at the Marquis villa, Randy and the others received a warm welcome from the servants.
The sweet night for just the 3 of them... faded into a dream, but seeing Liz's happy face made Randy feel it was still worth it.
Even if it had been a night for just the 3 of them, making a move was out of the question.
The obligations to Liz, the Marquis family, and Ellie were all present.
Having accomplished nothing, Randy could not touch the meal set before him, even if it was served.
"First, Ellie's condition... I hope to learn something from tomorrow's ruins investigation..."
Muttering such thoughts, Randy slipped into bed early that day.
Even though he was teleporting, the fatigue from being in an unfamiliar environment day after day was catching up to him.
Thus came a peaceful morning... Randy set out earlier than usual, heading to the academy with Liz from the Marquis villa.
Though it was a different route to school, they arrived at the academy laughing as always.
And as usual, they passed through the school gate...
"Big guy. You did something again, didn't you!"
Right off the bat.
Catherine, waiting just inside the gate, approached Randy with an intensity that suggested she might grab him.
"What are you talking about out of the blue..."
Completely unaware of any wrongdoing, Randy heard Catherine lower her voice as she glanced around, mentioning "Julius."
"The former 4th prince of the Empire... he's currently at the Cathedral."
As Catherine furrowed her brow, Randy recalled that Julius had mentioned staying at the Cathedral.
"What... could he be a target for conquest?"
Catherine shook her head at the bewildered Randy and explained Julius's original position.
Indeed, in the game, Julius is a character that occupies the Cathedral.
A mini-game for restructuring the Church, acting as a helper character.
"Well, isn't that fine? It's how *history goes*, right?"
Catherine frowned at the tilting Randy, saying, "You're foolish."
Indeed, while Julius does come to the Cathedral, it's under the impression that Catherine has corrected the Church's corruption, moving him to visit.
"Anyway, I haven't done anything myself, haha."
Catherine raised an eyebrow at the laughing Randy and said, "You destroyed everything, didn't you?"
"Anyway, be careful. For some reason, He's infatuated with Luke. This world is almost beyond my knowledge now."
With that said, Catherine led Leon away, walking decisively.
"Well... we just met yesterday, so I know."
Randy exchanged wry smiles with Liz.
"Isn't it alright to be worried?"
To Liz's smile, Randy nodded and said, "That's true," as he chased after Catherine's small form.
The graduation ceremony in the great hall was about to begin soon.
If one hopes to attend the ceremony, it's surely more enjoyable to sit with friends than to be surrounded by strangers.
Just then, Cecilia and the others had also just arrived.
Joining up with the two, Randy and his group caught up to Catherine and entered the great hall following the other students.
* * *
The graduation ceremony held in the great hall progressed solemnly.
There was even an address from King Gerald before the principal's lengthy speech.
For the students, it was merely a boring and tedious time.
As it happened, chatting and dozing off became the order of the day...
"What will you do after the graduation ceremony? Will you return to Victor immediately?"
Cecilia tilted her head, ignoring the king's valuable speech, as Liz, right behind her, also ignored the noble words, watching Randy drift off.
"They didn't say anything particular yesterday..."
Liz, having said that while glancing around, lowered her voice even more.
"...but I heard that we're going to investigate that ruin tomorrow."
At Liz's words, Catherine and Cecilia exchanged glances.
"Um... what do you mean by that?"
"It's about the training, right?"
Liz nodded at the two, beginning to talk about the various details surrounding the ruin.
Catherine had helped decode the cipher, but she was unaware that it was originally about seeking Ellie's body, and while Cecilia had pointed out the ruin as a clue to Ellie's body, she hadn't shared any updates afterward.
"I see."
Catherine and Cecilia nodded in agreement at the same time.
They wanted to seek hints from the ancient ruin to reach the [Tower of Time], where Ellie's body was believed to be.
Finally, it was taking on a sense of reality.
Rumors had driven out the Knights and researchers, leaving the ruin completely unguarded now.
"But Randy said tomorrow, though I wonder if the principal will be available..."
Liz grimaced as she watched Lucius, who had begun greeting the king in place of Randy.
Randy and the others were free from this afternoon, but Lucius was already committed to attending a graduation party this afternoon.
Lucius was a busy man.
It was hard to believe he would be free tomorrow.
If Lucius couldn't make it, it would be fine for just Liz, Ellie, and Randy to go... but at the very least, they needed his assistance with the training, decoding the cipher, and adjusting the end-of-year exams.
They owed various favors to principal Lucius.
Randy wouldn't likely ignore that obligation and go with just the 3 of them.
Thus, if they were to go, Liz expected Lucius would accompany them, and indeed, that was the case.
At Liz's words, Cecilia and Catherine nodded in agreement once more.
"But if Sir Randolph says 'tomorrow,' then he must have something scheduled, right?"
"That's true. He's foolish, but not an idiot..."
Catherine turned back to Randy with an exasperated expression, prompting Liz and Cecilia to glance at Randy as well.
"Still, to be sleeping again..."
"Indeed. It's a bit unusual, to say the least."
