Volume 6 Chapter 5, Part 2 Perhaps the Two Are Similar
The two show completely opposite reactions.
Perhaps they are 2 of a kind.
Understanding this, Randy looked at Cecilia with a wry smile.
It seems Cecilia shares the same thought, showing a similar wry smile.
"I've seen you two are close... Anyway, don't worry about us."
Randy waved his hand, and the two frowned as they faced each other again.
"So, Lucas. I want to spar with you again sometime."
"No way."
Luke frowned, but certainly, he wasn't exactly hating Julius as Cecilia said.
At least enough to respond in conversation.
As their conversation started again, Randy whispered to Cecilia, "So? What's up?"
"It's not Sir Julius himself, but rather his surroundings... his guards, so to speak."
Cecilia lowered her voice, and Randy realized today there was no surveillance around.
"What about them?"
Cecilia hesitated, saying, "Well..."
"During the last visit, my room was──"
"Ah. You were being watched."
Randy's straightforward words made Cecilia smile wryly, "I-I just opened the curtains for a break from studying!"
But Randy finally understood.
Luke probably didn't dislike Julius, but rather hated the unnecessary watchful folks clinging to him.
It could also be a nuisance to the Count Hartfield family.
"By the way, what about that peeper?"
"Caught by Luke..."
"Could it be──"
"S-Since His Highness Julius intervened, somehow..."
Cecilia smiled wryly, but it was probably quite dangerous.
She had touched Luke's forbidden line.
Randy hoped to avoid that.
However, knowing the reason, Julius for some reason wasn't taking any watches along with him now.
With that, Luke shouldn't have to hate it.
"It can't be helped."
Randy clapped his hands and stepped between Luke and Julius, saying, "Hey, you two."
"Mr. Julius──"
"Julius is fine."
Randy scratched his head and said, "Hey, hey," to the smiling Julius.
"Julius, what happened to the watchers today?"
Luke looked around, saying, "Speaking of which," in response to Randy's words.
"I caused trouble for Lucas's precious lady, so I managed to get them to leave."
Julius shrugged, but Randy wondered, "Well done?"
If a single word could solve everything, he wouldn't understand why they had been under surveillance until now.
"I'm surprised too. I said, 'I don't need a guard,' and they just left."
Julius sighed and glanced at Livia, but she was still lost in conversation with Liz.
(Is it because the [Sword Saint] is the supervisor?)
Not fully understanding the situation, it's just Randy's imagination.
"That said, the dark side folks are far away."
Julius shook his head weakly, and Randy and Luke chimed in, "Of course."
It's not just Julius.
Randy and Luke are also constantly monitored as dangerous individuals.
With the former Fourth Prince of the Empire joining, the dark side can't help but be on high alert.
In fact, the dark side, which had been keeping its distance, is starting to close in little by little.
"Even if it's right in the middle of the street, was that too much of a secret talk?"
Randy, with a wry smile, patted Julius and Luke on the shoulders, saying, "Let's disperse soon."
"Yeah, I'm on an errand too."
"The former prince is on an errand?"
Julius shrugged, saying to the wry-smiling Luke, "I'm just staying at the Cathedral for now."
"Well then, I should be going soon."
Waving his hand, Julius turned his back to Luke, saying, "Let's go, Livia."
"Well then, both of you, *see you again*──"
Randy and Luke tilted their heads slightly at Julius's meaningful smile when he looked back.
It was a smile that seemed to carry more than just a simple "See you later."
The backs of shrinking Julius and Livia... As Randy watched, he trembled slightly.
Randy doesn't particularly dislike Julius, but he has a subtle sense of discomfort.
It's not simple, plus he has drive.
On top of that, despite being abandoned, he has that status.
(He's not a bad guy... but getting involved carelessly could lead to trouble.)
As Randy sighed, the escalating power struggle over succession in the Empire flashed through his mind.
Julius, fed up with it, even threw away his status.
He doesn't even understand the relationship between the [Pilgrim of Truth] and the Empire.
It's natural to want to avoid involvement.
Yet, Randy's intuition tells him.
That they will likely be involved in the future.
He trembled again at that chill.
"He won't say he's going to attend the academy, right?"
"Hahaha. No way."
Luke laughed it off, but his laughter grew quieter... now a bitter smile accompanied by, "No way, huh."
"No, no. He's the prince of the Empire."
"It's impossible."
The two laughed robustly, but it was a desperate laugh trying to dispel an odd premonition.
Their premonition will come true, but that's a little further ahead... after spring break ends.
