Volume 6 Chapter 5 Perhaps the Two Are Similar
With overlapping voices, Randy compared Julius and Luke.
"What? You guys knew each other?"
Randy tilted his head, and Luke grimaced, saying, "We got to know each other."
"It happened while you were away."
With a big sigh, Luke began to explain how he met Julius in the past few days.
He said "how," but it wasn't a big deal.
Julius had attached himself to Luke and Livia, who came to play with swords.
So, with Julius included, the 3 of them swung their swords...
"I got completely beaten."
Julius shrugged, and Luke snorted, "I don't hold back against men."
But from Randy's perspective, he didn't understand why Luke disliked it.
If he was defeated with a sword, it seemed like Julius would be the one who would dislike it instead.
Noticing Randy's questioning gaze, Luke sighed and opened his mouth.
"Even though I said I beat him, he was indeed the Fourth. [Prodigy] was well-deserved."
...Luke frowned, and Julius shrugged, saying, "That's the past."
"That's right. Because of the overflowing nobility, it couldn't be helped..."
Luke smiled slyly, but
"You're the youngest son of the Grand Duke, right?"
Julius, feeling triumphant, made Luke show a disgusted face, saying, "That's the past."
"I don't get it. For someone who says that's the past, your family name remains unchanged."
Julius tilted his head, but Luke just answered bluntly, "There are various reasons."
Indeed, Luke had his own resolve for keeping his family name as it is.
It's not a grand reason, but it's Luke's own resolve.
"I thought you were planning to succeed the Grand Duke..."
"That's what I've been saying isn't the case, over and over."
Seeing a fed-up Luke, they must have had this exchange many times already, but Julius's question is reasonable.
Two men who have abandoned their inheritance rights.
One has discarded his family name, while the other bears his name as it is.
In that case, it's only natural to think, "Oh? You seem to want to inherit."
"The reason I use Highland as my name is to make my name resound up to the heavens."
Taking a deep breath, Luke murmured with a serious expression, "*Which* Lucas do you mean?"
Only Randy and the others have a clue about that remark.
Still, seeing Luke's serious expression, Julius nodded and opened his mouth, saying, "I see."
"Well then, I said something weird."
"Don't worry about it. I'm used to it."
The two exchanging words don't seem to have any awkwardness between them.
It seems that, judging by Luke's reaction, Julius dislikes being teased about his family name.
Randy, who doesn't quite get it, compared Luke and Julius, and then his eyes met Cecilia, who was a bit further away.
It seems Cecilia and Liz's conversation has come to a pause, as they are both watching Luke and Julius interact now.
Randy made a small beckoning motion to Cecilia.
Cecilia seemed surprised as if she didn't expect to be called, pointing at herself.
Randy silently nodded in response to Cecilia pointing at herself, and then reluctantly, Cecilia and Liz navigated around Luke and joined Randy.
"Hey there, Cecilia."
"Good day, Livia."
The two of them smiled at each other, seeming to have a good relationship.
And Livia's interest shifted to Liz...
"I've found a beautiful lady!"
"Is it me?"
"Yes. 'It's me.' Nice to meet you, I'm Livia."
With a broad smile, Livia received Liz's polite curtsy, "I am Elizabeth."
While Liz and Livia's conversation began, Randy pointed his chin toward Luke and the others, saying to Cecilia, "That..."
"Why does Luke dislike Julius so much?"
"It's not that he dislike him..."
Randy frowned, speaking as if something was stuck in his teeth, and said, "No, you just dislike him," as he turned his gaze back to Luke.
"It's not that he dislike him..."
Cecilia muttered again, smiling wryly, "It's my fault."
"Huh? Could it be...?"
Could it be that Luke and Julius were competing for Cecilia's affection...? That thought must have shown on Randy's face.
Cecilia involuntarily raised her voice, "N-No, that's not it!"
At Cecilia's sudden voice, Luke and the others turned their attention to her.
"N-Nothing at all!"
Cecilia, blushing, looked down as if to hide her embarrassment.
Seeing Cecilia like that, Luke and Julius furrowed their brows and opened their mouths almost simultaneously.
"Hey, stupid Randy. Don't bully the lady."
"That's right. You have a grand title like [Battle Demon]. Be gentle with women."
Seizing the moment, the two scolded Randy in unison, and Randy pouted, saying, "It wasn't me."
"You two are in perfect sync, huh?"
To Randy, who frowned,
"Where's the sync?"
"Isn't it?"
