Volume 5 Chapter 60 Huh? It seems like a digest
In the blizzard that blurred the streetlights, Randy and Rolf arrived in front of a large building in the suburbs.
It was a quick visit after the arrest drama, and they had confirmed that the group was indeed home.
Now, they just needed to charge in together...
"I'll check just to be sure."
Rolf's softly spoken words made Randy nod in agreement with a "Yeah."
It's almost certainly them, but they need to consider the possibility that it might be different.
Plus, Randy and the others didn't know how many civilians were in their hideout.
(Though it's hard to believe they'd leave brainwashed civilians there.)
Considering various situations, as Randy made that judgment, Rolf gently knocked on the entrance of the building.
The quiet building showed a hint of bustle... and then the entrance door opened slightly.
"Th-this is Your Excellency Marquis. What brings you here at this hour?"
The man looked clearly surprised, but he kept repeating that he would come anytime if they just showed their hands.
"I have something I absolutely want to ask you. It's my turn to inquire, isn't it?"
Rolf, grinning, made the man stutter with a "Uh, uh-huh."
"Now then. You said you had questions... What are you plotting, [Pilgrim of Truth]?"
The direct question twisted the man's face into a grimace.
"W-what do you mean?"
Seeing the man's forced smile, Rolf snorted, "It's written all over your face."
The man tried to close the door, but Rolf's grip held it firmly in place.
It was a completely self-incriminating action, but Rolf suddenly released his grip from the door.
The door slammed shut... only for Rolf to kick it open with force.
The heavy, large door flew off, crashing against the opposite wall and shaking the entire building.
"Merchant guild Veritas. No, [Pilgrim of Truth]. We are conducting a forced investigation due to attempted murder suspicions against the Marquis' heir and his wife."
As Rolf entered the building through the blizzard, several men surrounded him.
"Even if you are a Marquis, do you think such things are allowed?"
Facing the men exuding killing intent, Rolf smirked and said, "Fools."
At a glance, there were no signs of ordinary people.
The arrangement, as expected by Randy and Rolf, was convenient for both of them.
"If I kill all of you, no one can blame my actions."
At the statement that made it unclear who the real criminal was, the men drew knives from their pockets.
For a moment, both sides stared each other down... Rolf, having confirmed everything, smiled.
"What's wrong? Come at me—!"
Someone shouted at Rolf's bloodthirsty smile, "Get him!"
The men lunged at Rolf all at once... but with a slight flick of his arms, several heads exploded.
Literally exploded.
Blood and brains splattered across the floor and walls, staining them red and black.
Even so, the men didn't stop.
Using their own allies as shields, they relentlessly aimed for Rolf's blind spots.
(Damn. [North Wall] is insane. He's literally a wall.)
Randy, watching Rolf's fight near the door, was bored out of his mind.
[North Wall] was obviously a metaphor, but Rolf's current battle performance genuinely fit the description.
After all, no enemy ever reached Randy, who stood behind Rolf.
Even assassins who tried to circle behind were overwhelmed by Rolf alone.
Randy had come along to support Rolf, but he never imagined he'd have nothing to do.
Rolf embodied the phrase 'rip and toss.'
Standing like an immovable wall, he completely blocked the enemy's advance—a reassuring sight for his allies.
Within mere minutes of their assault, the first-floor shop had been utterly destroyed.
The stench of thick blood filled the air, turning the scene into a living hell.
"Hmm. Get off and this..."
"They're probably coming up to the top"
Blowing snowstorms enter the store through a broken door and a broken window.
In the midst of a terrible situation that still cannot be hidden, Randy and Rolf turn their feet up the stairs.
The unpleasant "squelch" sound that plays at the bottom of the boot echoes through the stairs.
As the sound got a bit better, the two reached the second floor, where a spacious, open store appeared before them, just like the first floor.
However, what welcomed them inside the store was not jewels in a showcase or dressed-up salespeople.
"Welcome to the merchant guild Veritas."
It was a tall, thin man grinning widely.
"The head of merchant guild Veritas... Elliot, right?"
Elliot bowed respectfully to Rolf, who furrowed his brows, saying, "This is an honor."
"I can't believe the renowned Your Excellency Marquis Waldner remembers me."
Elliot, acting exaggeratedly, narrowed his eyes and said, "But..."
"If you're visiting outside business hours, I have to respond accordingly."
The moment Elliot changed his tone and snapped his fingers, magicians appeared in a fan-shaped formation around Randy and the others.
"[North Wall]... will you show the true value of that title?"
As Elliot smirked, the magicians began to chant magic all at once.
Fire, wind, ice, rock, and lightning──though varied in type, the magnitude of the magical power was clear even to Randy.
(...It was Multiple Chanting.
I thought it was just a rumor since Ellie mentioned it at the castle.)
In that moment, Randy fully connected the attackers with [Pilgrim of Truth].
"Enjoy it to the fullest."
At Elliot's command, countless magic attacks surged toward Rolf and Randy.
The entire floor was enveloped in shockwaves and swirling dust.
"Wow. A simultaneous barrage is truly spectacular!"
As Elliot smiled at the blowing wind and dust, suddenly, a gigantic hand stretched out, breaking through the dust.
Elliot hurriedly backstepped to create distance, but the outstretched finger grazed his face.
Before the recoiling Elliot stood Rolf, who had swung his arm almost unscathed.
"Heh. So that title isn't just for show?"
Rolf approached again, as Elliot's smile slightly twisted.
Elliott was caught by a fist that came swinging down.
Elliott was slammed to the ground, looking gruesome, but the next moment, his body turned into a doll.
'That was close,'
A voice came from above, and Rolf silently broke through the ceiling to go upstairs.
By the time the dust settled, Randy was left alone, unscathed, surrounded by a large number of magicians.
"Oh no, Your Excellency is going to be furious... "
Randy, who had been clapping his hands together in a "what can you do" gesture at the broken ceiling, suddenly changed his expression to a wicked grin.
"Well, since we're both left behind, let's get along,"
The magicians began to charge up their magical power again, sneering at Randy.
Randy let out a sigh, saying "You know..." as the magicians around him started to cast their magic again.
"That's too slow, it's useless,"
Randy said, and then jumped up.
As Randy landed on the ceiling, a magician shouted "Up──" just as the ceiling burst open.
Randy's kick, aided by gravity, was incredibly powerful.
That single kick ripped a magician's upper body off.
Randy, who had burst through the fan in the middle of the room, laughed, saying "I didn't want to burn my clothes this time," and the magicians' bodies began to explode one by one.
Randy, who had defeated all his enemies in an instant, let out a big sigh, "Whew."
