Volume 5 Chapter 59 I'm Sorry. The Beating Will Be Next Episode. (I Can't Say I Forgot to Introduce the Enemy Executive)

When Randy and Rolf decided to storm the merchant guild, the castle fell silent all at once.

The atmosphere of the castle, calm as if the earlier commotion was a lie, felt completely normal.

Even in front of Randy and Rolf, who suddenly spoke of raids and crackdowns, the servants and knights understood the situation and focused quietly on their duties.

Randy admired the skill level of those around him, muttering, "Impressive."

However, Randy was not so free as to just admire Waldner.

He needed to say goodbye to Cedric and the others before storming in.

 "Sorry, Liz, Ellie."

At Randy's words, Liz shook her head, saying, "We're not unrelated to this."

Liz was about to teleport Cedric and Miranda to Braubelg.

Given the situation, Cedric also needed to meet with Lucian and decide on countermeasures.

By the way, it wasn't just Cedric and the others being sent.

"Harrison. Give this to the old man──"

What Randy handed to Harrison was a piece of paper akin to a memo.

It contained various details about the [Pilgrim of Truth].

If it were Victor and the others, there would be no worry about being infiltrated through brainwashing, but it was a precaution.

Harrison and Rita were the messengers for that.

"Once you arrive, follow the old man's instructions. It's probably reinforcements to Hartfield."

 "Understood."

Randy patted Harrison's shoulder, saying, "I'm counting on you."

"I was supposed to come to make a kotatsu..."

Catherine, with a wry smile, felt completely left behind.

Amidst the busy yet quiet preparations, Catherine sat on the bed, dazed.

Not knowing what to do or what not to do.

 She didn't even understand that.

But unexpectedly, someone called out to Catherine.

"Saint's young girl. I want to ask you something."

Ellie grinned, making Catherine shiver and think, "W-What?"

"How far can your Holy Magic be used?"

"How far? Well, I can manage up to mid-level."

Catherine pouted, and Ellie tilted her head, asking, "Mid-level... like Holy Breath?"

 "Holy Breath? That's not mid-level."

Catherine, with a side-eye, sighed and said, "If it's purification, I can still manage Dispel."

 "Dispel, huh..."

Ellie frowned slightly but showed a mischievous face to Catherine, saying, "Well, alright."

"You, girl, let's get to work."

Suddenly told to work, Catherine exclaimed, "Huh?" in a dazed voice.

"While I and Liz are away, heal those 2 who are down with illness. It's likely not illness but poison or curses."

Ellie grinned, and Catherine involuntarily stood up, saying, "Wait──"

"Dispel has already been cast by the priest, right? And yet you want me to heal them──"

"Fool. Who are you? Are you not a Saint? The meaning of that word. The true value of your Holy Magic. I am asking you to show it."

With that said, Ellie vanished with Cedric and Harrison using teleportation, saying, "I'll leave it to you."

Catherine, left behind, looked at Leon and then at Randy.

"You're amazing! That Ellie said 'I'll leave it to you,' that's rare."

At Randy's words, Catherine raised her fists and brought them down, saying, "Ah, come on!"

"I'll do it! Lady Airen, will you guide me?"

Catherine's tone changed, almost like Cecilia's, as she was led by Airen out of the room.

"That Saintly Lady is too easy..."

Leon smiled wryly, but despite his tone, he seemed somewhat pleased.

Leon shrugged at Randy, then chased after Catherine, saying he would go guard her.

Everyone dashed toward their own tasks.

Randy, who sent them off, also left the room, saying, "Shall we go..."

Passing through the hallway and descending the stairs, Rolf was already standing in the entrance hall of the castle, fully prepared.

 "You made it..."

 "Thank you for waiting."

"No, we just finished our arrangements too."

Neither of them said anything else.

About Cedric and the others not accompanying them, about Rolf himself going out as the commander, or the castle's security.

And how they would crush their enemies.

They understood there was *no need* to ask anything.

Thus, the two remained silent as they stepped out through the door Rolf pushed open, into the snowy night of the town.

* * *

In a notably large building on the outskirts of Blankfurt, the merchant guild was located.

 The merchant guild Veritas.

This newly emerging merchant guild, showing momentum over the past few months, had just finished their usual business for the day, blending into the town with nonchalant faces.

All those within this merchant guild were regular members of the [Pilgrims of Truth].

The reason is simple; even if they can manipulate people through brainwashing, it only tweaks thoughts.

If they can't control normal behavior, they can't predict where the secrets of the merchant guild might leak.

Thus, only [Pilgrims of Truth] are sent in, ensuring no one else is in this merchant guild.

Additionally, the techniques used for brainwashing are advanced, which is another reason.

With few practitioners, the bar is high for brainwashing many.

In this den of the [Pilgrims of Truth], the Veritas merchant guild was currently in the midst of offering prayers to what the members worshiped, now that business had concluded.

 A usual sight.

It had been conveyed through information from above that the [Prince of the Silver Peaks] had come to meet Marquis Waldner, but there was no particular order to take action.

So, they welcomed yet another ordinary night.

On the top of the merchant guild building, which looked just like always, there was the room of the merchant guild leader who oversaw the merchant guild Veritas.

"So it's the [Prince of the Silver Peaks], huh? I wanted to meet him at least once."

The man sitting in the merchant guild leader's chair stifled a yawn and put his feet on the desk.

"I doubt he could even compare to Sir Elliot, known as the [Emerald Sage]."

The old man beside him said, and the man laughed while shaking his chair, "Yeah, but still..."

"The [North Wall] is no challenge at all, so it's boring."

The man pouted, and the old man shook his head, saying, "There's nothing we can do about it."

"Sir Elliot is a chosen one among us [Pilgrims of Truth], one of the Four Saints."

Elliot sighed at the old man's eerie smile, saying, "Getting too strong is boring too."

"If anything, I think Braubelg would have been more interesting."

Elliot swayed his chair and pouted again, saying, "The royal capital seems boring too."

They had also heard the news that the [Pilgrims of Truth] lurking in the royal capital had been wiped out.

"Getting taken down by some clueless country bumpkin... what a disgrace to the organization."

The atmosphere shifted suddenly, and the old man broke into a cold sweat from the dense killing intent.

However, the mood changed again, and Elliot began swaying his chair with a carefree expression once more.

"Was it the [Red Battle Demon]? It seems like the higher-ups are showing some interest, but if it's the same type as [North Wall], it won't be my opponent."

Elliot, still swaying his chair, suddenly sat up as if he remembered something.

"Oh right! Julius is in the royal capital now, isn't he?"

"It's the [Prodigy]. Over there, the second Lord of [Sword Saint] is with him."

Elliot pouted again and shook his chair at the old man's words.

"Little [Sword Saint] isn't a [Pilgrim of Truth], though."

"Still, she has a cooperative relationship with the [Prophet]."

Elliott snorted, saying, "I'm in touch with Julius too."

"Ah, really. I wonder if something interesting will happen soon."

Just as Elliott muttered that... a deafening roar echoed, shaking the entire building.

 "Oh? Oh! Oh!"

Elliott, with a surprised expression, and the old man, shouting, "What is happening!"

A messenger rolled in quickly, saying, "We are under attack!"

"An attack? Could it be [Nobleman]? No, such a direct action is──"

"[North Wall]! Also, there's one man we've never seen before, just two of them attacking!"

Elliott laughed happily at the expected response, saying, "Heh."

"Are they trying to disrupt the board? But the king himself shouldn't be out there."

Elliott, grinning, told the messenger, "Send out the magic troops."

"Surround them and unleash maximum firepower... shall we give it a try?"

The sounds of battle starting downstairs echoed in Elliott's ears as he smiled slyly.
