Volume 2 Chapter 52 Divine Beast of Thunder： Kirin
In the shrine of the fairy kingdom, I faced the Divine Beast, Kirin.
At first, I thought it was a glowing horse.
The dazzling light emanating from its body was actually a fierce current of electricity.
Its body was covered in dragon-like scales, with a mane like cotton and horns wrapped in flesh sprouting from its forehead.
"That over there is the Kirin. It's bound by sealing ropes that restrict its movement, but I've heard it uses thunder magic. Be careful."
Heeding the advice of Prince Reiss, I spoke to Lilin on my shoulder.
"You should stay back because it's dangerous... wait, Lilin?"
'Woohoo! Go for it, Demon Lord! I"m cheering for you from afar!'
Before I could say anything, Lilin had retreated to stand next to Reiss.
She must be prioritizing her own safety.
She's got a good character, really.
"Well then, let's go."
I approached the Kirin.
The area beneath the shrine resembled a cave, with a stone altar at the far end.
Ropes extended from all directions, binding the Kirin tightly.
"Sealing by ropes, shrine sealing, even with double measures, it still stirs up a great storm outside. It seems quite powerful."
As I got closer, I realized the Kirin was larger than I expected.
It must be about 3 meters tall.
Its eyes were dyed bright red, and it was snorting heavily.
"I am Zeke, the Demon Lord. Divine Beast Kirin, shall we talk first?"
The Kirin neighed like a horse.
'Kill, kill, kill!!!!'
I thought it had some intelligence, but it seemed my voice wasn't reaching it.
"Calm down. Why are you so angry?"
'Kill! Kill! Kiiiillllll!'
A massive amount of magical power surged from its body.
White lightning erupted from the Kirin, released with tremendous force into the surroundings.
The lightning struck the walls and ceiling, causing debris to crash down.
I evaded all of it with precision.
'The shrine's walls, made of the hardest divine iron (adamantite), should have been under a fixation magic! To shatter that is an incredible lightning! Demon Lord! Be careful!'
I see, that lightning seems quite powerful.
'Killlll!'
The kirin unleashed white lightning from its body again.
It became countless arrows, raining down on me.
I extended my right hand and formed a holy barrier with Hand of God.
The hemispherical barrier blocked all of the kirin's arrows.
'A-amazing...! To withstand countless lightning arrows without a scratch! As expected from the barrier made by Demon Lord!'
The kirin, possibly angered by the blocked attack, struggled to move on the spot.
Snap...!
The rope binding the kirin snapped.
'Hey, hey! Reiss! The rope is coming undone!'
'N-no way...! That seal was made based on a sacred artifact! It shouldn't come undone! Why!?'
It's hard to believe the kirin freed itself.
Someone must have done something.
Well, finding that culprit can wait.
'Killl! I will kill them alllll!'
The freed kirin released an enormous amount of lightning from its entire body.
Gritting my teeth, it charged toward me.
Boom...!
With a sound like thunder striking....
The kirin collapsed at my feet.
'What happened!?'
"The kirin turned its body into lightning and charged at me at high speed. I managed to read its movement and dodge, landing a blow."
'Y-you struck it down with lightning...! As expected from Demon Lord!'
'Whoa! Awesome! Demon Lor is super amazing! Alright, it's over now, let's go home!'
Just how much does Lilin want to avoid staying here....
"Not yet. We haven't resolved the cause of the kirin's rampaging."
'If it hasn"t been resolved...'
"Ah, I understand the cause. But I'll need it to calm down a bit for the treatment."
Glaring!
The kirin widened its eyes, casting a hostile gaze at me.
'Killl!'
Thud...!
It instantly distanced itself from me.
The kirin crouched down, pointing its horn at me.
Lightning concentrated at a single point.
'Ugh! This is bad, Demon Lord! I don't want to die! Please just kill that guy already!'
"No. I won't let any beast's life be lost before me."
I crouched down and took my stance.
'Demon Lord! That's the Kirin's secret art [Divine Speed Lightning]! It can turn a country to ash in an instant with its ultra-high-density lightning! Run away! You'll die!'
'I'm running!'
But I didn't run; I waited to attack.
Soon, the Kirin released the compressed lightning from the tip of its horn.
It shot a spear of lightning straight at us.
As it gouged the ground and space, it unleashed a strike faster than any human could perceive.
I thrust my right hand forward and activated Hand of God.
The moment my hand touched it, the lightning vanished as if nothing had happened.
"Whoaaaaa! I'm alive! I'm really alive! Yay!'
'Incredible... even that divine strike was returned to magic.'
"Yeah. After all, the Kirin's lightning is magic."
'But to touch a strike of such power and speed is beyond human capability! Amazing! As expected of you, Demon Lord!'
Exhausted from using magic, the Kirin collapsed on the spot.
"[Sleep]"
When I activated the skill, the Kirin lay down and began to snore.
'To put even a Divine Beast to sleep is insane. Demon Lord, you're too monstrous! I'm glad I didn't end up as your enemy! Safe, safe!'
I patted the cheerful Lilin on the head and sighed.
