Volume 2 Chapter 1 Evolution Through Naming
Some time after the declaration of nationhood, one day.
In the pastures of the Demon Lord country.
"Hello there!"
"Oh, it's you, Doctor!"
When the farmer noticed me, he waved his hand.
He has been a friend since my time in the kingdom, a farmer I was close to.
"Wait, are you now called Demon Lord?"
"Come on, hearing you talk like that makes me sad, old man."
"Sorry, sorry! But it's really amazing how much you've grown, Doctor. I'm so proud of you!"
He smiled broadly and patted my back enthusiastically.
Most of the farmers I was friendly with in the kingdom, including him, have come to the Demon Lord country.
"How's the farm doing?"
"It's doing great! Thanks for building such a wonderful place!"
I made the necessary facilities using alchemy.
On the other side of the fence, the cows were happily grazing.
"And what about them?"
A monster was walking near the cows.
It's a kobold, a 2-legged monster that looks like a big dog.
"Oh, they're all hard workers. They've been a big help!"
"Thanks for hiring them, old man."
"No problem! It's your request, after all."
Now, to aim for a country where monsters and humans can coexist, we face our first challenge.
That challenge is prejudice.
Humans have a lingering prejudice that monsters are somehow "beasts that attack people."
To change this perception, I'm having monsters work together with humans like this.

The kobolds noticed me and came closer.
Their tails wagged wildly and quickly.

There are ten kobolds working here.
They seem to be doing their jobs seriously under the old man's guidance.

"We can't communicate well. Unlike you, regular people can't hear the voices of monsters."

However, it seems that low-rank monsters like dog people can't talk.

With a rustle, the dog people lined up neatly in front of me.

Koberto jumped up and down.
I felt like his body shone for a moment.
"Next. Um, you will be [Koboniro]. And you are..."
After naming ten of them, it happened.
"D-Doctor! K-Koberto...!"
The farmer was shocked and pointed behind him.
"What is it... Wait, whaaat!? W-Who are you!?"
What was there was not a dog person... but a wolf-headed, muscular human.
"W-What, a werewolf!?"
Dog people are D-rank monsters.
On the other hand, werewolves are A-rank monsters.
"Thank you very much, Demon Lord! Thanks to you, we have evolved!"
"E-Evolved...?"
"Doctor! The other kids have all changed too!"
Ten well-built werewolves stood proudly in front of me.
"W-What does this mean?"
The werewolves struck a pose and said,
"We have become [Named Monsters]!"
"Monsters who receive names from higher beings can become high-level monsters even among their kind!"
"Normally, leveling up shouldn't lead to evolution──it's impossible!"
"But the Demon Lord is special! We evolved into a powerful monster!"
"As expected of the Demon Lord!"
"Grrr!"
Ten werewolves shouted with determination.
"Wow, Doctor, you're really something, huh?"
"""Of course he is, old man!"""
"W-whoa! You guys can talk now?!"
"""It's all thanks to the Demon Lord!"""
Their rank increased, and so did their intelligence──now they could communicate.
"Just giving them names made them evolve? You're amazing, Doctor!"
