Volume 3 Chapter 28 The Man Abandoned By God
Suisen, handing over a nearly blank Divine Revelation, is showing off his bright white teeth.
Meanwhile, I'm taken aback and couldn't respond for a while.
"Hm? What's wrong, Roezé? Are you so captivated by My Divine Revelation that you can't find the words?"
"..."
Suisen smiles cheerfully, covering his mouth with his hand as if to hide his grin.
"Well, it's no surprise. My Divine Revelation is so beautiful that it wouldn't be out of place in an art museum."
He seems to genuinely believe that his Divine Revelation is beautiful.
It really wouldn't be strange to display it in a museum.
I do think it's "pretty" in a different sense, though.
It has a "clean" beauty since it's almost completely blank.
So, as I'm unsure how to respond, Suisen claps his hands, and tries to leave the path.
"Well, anyway, since you've confirmed the Divine Revelation... let's hurry and go accept the subjugation request."
"Wait, wait, wait!"
I quickly stop Suisen.
Pulling his arm, I bring him back to the path and hold the paper I had in front of his face with force.
"Is, is this really your Divine Revelation?"
"What are you doubting now? I showed you the Divine Revelation right in front of you. It's genuine, without a doubt, that's Suisen Pride's Divine Revelation."
"..."
Well, I did see him take out the Divine Revelation right in front of me.
"Is it, like, a magic trick or something?"
"Seriously, how much do you need to doubt before you're satisfied? What's wrong with my Divine Revelation?"
"'Where?' Of course, it's everywhere. This Divine Revelation, I've never seen anything like it before. This means there's no job class or anything."
No job class. No skills. No divine blessing.
Everything about this is definitely strange.
I once again looked down at Suisen's Divine Revelation and one word came to my mind.
"Could it be that Suisen is a 'Blasphemer (Weed)'?"
"Blasphemer (Weed)?"
Suisen reacted as if he had never heard that before.
I wondered if he had never been called that, and despite my limited knowledge, I decided to explain.
"I don't know much about it either, and I haven't actually met one, but I heard there are very few people in the world who are 'humans without a job class.' They call those people 'Blasphemer (Weed)'."
"Well, I don't remember being called that. But why are they called Blasphemer (Weed)? It sounds like a 'lawless person' who has committed a great sin for not having a job class."
"...In fact, that's what they say, which is why they are called Blasphemer (Weed)."
"...?"
Seeing Suisen tilt his head in confusion, I showed him the Divine Revelation again and continued.
"A job class is something that God gives you from birth. It's a supernatural power that God grants us to fight against the monsters that roam the earth."
"Of course, I know that much. So what?"
"Not having a job class means you can interpret it as being 'abandoned by God.' It's like being thrown into a world filled with dangerous monsters completely unprotected."
"...Well, now that you mention it, I can see how that might feel true."
Seeing Suisen nodding, I continued to explain.
"So, it seems like there's an old story about people who haven't been given a job class... in other words, humans who have been abandoned by the gods are feared as dangerous beings by the gods."
"Feared by the gods?"
"It's said that they might have committed some terrible sin in their past life or have personality issues that make their future uncertain. So, the gods don't grant job classes to these dangerous individuals to prevent them from misusing their power."
It's just a legend, after all.
"Well, because that story spread somehow, humans without a job class came to be seen as abandoned by the gods──called 'Blasphemer (Weed)'."
"Oh..."
"I don't have any proof that Suisen is one of those Blasphemer (Weed), so I don't think you need to worry about it... but the problem is, it's a fact that Suisen doesn't have a job class, which means you don't have the power to fight monsters. At this rate, you can't possibly become stronger than Ms. Alium. How did you plan to surpass Ms. Alium, Suisen?"
A job class is the source of power.
Without it, divine blessings that enhance physical abilities won't manifest, and skills or magic can't be used either.
So how was he planning to surpass Ms. Alium, who has the strength equivalent to a Rank 1 adventurer and can easily take down male adventurers? When I asked this, Suisen snapped his fingers with a 'snap'.
"Isn't it your job to think about that? Nurturer Roezé."
"Don't say something unreasonable. Just because I'm a Nurturer doesn't mean I can make someone without a job class strong. My power only rapidly grows the level of a job class."
Without a job class, even the Trainer's power wouldn't function properly.
My power only increases the amount of divine growth points I can obtain.
"How have you been able to do adventurer activities without a job class? You can't fight monsters with a body that has no divine blessing or skills, right? You should be able to join a party..."
Why has Suisen been able to belong to so many parties until now? With the nickname "party destroyer," it's clear that he has joined a considerable number of parties.
But someone without a job class should only be a hindrance, so why hasn't Suisen been turned away?
"Don't underestimate me. Even without a job class, there are many parties that need me."
"Wait? Does Suisen have the power to fight monsters even without a job class?"
If his physical abilities as a human are exceptionally high, it might be possible to fight monsters without a job class, even without relying on divine blessings or skills.
When I asked, Suisen smirked confidently.
"Of course, I don't have that kind of power."
"What?"
"I told you. I'm the one who captivated countless female adventurers, and the party invitations never stopped coming. They are purely drawn to my charm and invite me to their parties."
So, they invite him because they are attracted to his charm.
That means he's not being recruited for combat, but simply because they want to be with him? Even knowing he would be a hindrance?
"Well, I've been invited by male adventurers too. It seems that when I act with them, female adventurers start to notice me, and we get a lot of requests to join parties. They were very grateful to me for that."
"..."
Seeing Suisen laugh joyfully, I couldn't help but let out a hoarse voice.
"...That's not really an adventurer anymore, is it?"
Even though he joined the party, he doesn't have a job class, so he doesn't fight monsters.
He's just a party member with no clear role, simply tagging along.
That can't really be called an adventurer anymore.
"Hey, hey, that's unfair. I wasn't just doing nothing after joining the party. I have skills in 'dancing' and 'singing,' you know? I've entertained the party members at feasts with my performances."
"No, you should fight."
I couldn't help but let out a sharp remark.
I've never heard of an adventurer who competes based on charm rather than skill.
No, let's drop that topic.
Anyway, it's clear that Suisen has no combat ability at all.
I need to think about how to make them stronger than Ms. Alium.
Since I took on the request as a Nurturer, I can't just give up easily.
But...
"W-What should I do...?"
There was no way I could easily find an answer.
A way to make someone without a job class as strong as a Rank 1 adventurer.
No, I have no idea at all.
I've helped adventurers who were struggling to some extent, but I've never had such a troublesome client before.
Suisen, for some reason, showed no signs of panic and was just picking up a bottle nearby, admiring his reflection in it.
Could you at least think about this with me? As I held my head in frustration, a story suddenly crossed my mind.
"...Come to think of it, I think I've heard a story about a Blasphemer (Weed) from a long time ago who defeated a horde of monsters and saved a town. They were feared by the people as a Blasphemer (Weed) until that battle, but after that, they were celebrated as a Hero."
"Oh, really? There's such a story?"
I only vaguely remember that story, so I'm not sure how true it is.
I've already forgotten where I heard this story, but...
"Maybe there are some records left, so should we check out the library? I also want to look into Blasphemer (Weed) in more detail."
"I was just about to say the same thing!"
With a 'snap snap' of his fingers, Suisen walked ahead towards the library.
I secretly felt anxious, thinking that dealing with Suisen would be quite a burden, aside from the request itself.
