Volume 3 Chapter 27 Fate
The day after I decided to take on Suisen's request, I started my training right away.
I decided to leave the house early in the morning.
I felt bad about making clients wait like the other day, so besides putting up a sign saying 'Out', I also set up a makeshift message box.
I prepared a pen and paper, so for now, I shouldn't miss any clients.
I hurried to the adventurer guild, the meeting place with Suisen, and he was already there.
"Seriously, to keep the great Suisen Pride waiting twice, you really are a troublesome guy."
Suisen was sitting on a bench near the guild, crossing his long legs while waiting.
He had a proud look on his face, as if to say, "Please use me as a model for your art." He really stood out, and the passing women were glancing his way.
I started to feel embarrassed just watching, so I quickly pulled Suisen's hand and headed toward the guild.
"By the way, why did you choose the guild as our meeting place? Your house would have been fine too."
"I thought I'd take on a monster subjugation request while training. If we're going to subjugate monsters, it's better to achieve a request at the same time, right?"
"Yeah, that makes sense."
Suisen snapped his fingers.
Well, besides the purpose of taking on a subjugation request, he also wanted to get a sense of the recent happenings around here.
I hadn't been able to visit the adventurer guild much lately, and I didn't know what the situation around Hyamars town was like.
And also...
"I thought I'd check on Ms. Alium just to see her once. It was more convenient to meet at the guild."
"Hmm, what's this? Could it be that while listening to our conversation, Roezé has been drawn to Ms. Alium's charm? But unfortunately, it's decided that I will be the one to be with her, so I think your hopes are pretty slim."
"That's not it, not at all. I just thought I should check how strong Ms. Alium really is."
That said, I don't intend to peek into Divine Revelation without permission; I just want to gauge her strength based on her appearance.
"If I have a rough idea of her abilities, it'll be clearer how strong you need to train to become. It would also make things easier for me to know that."
"I see. In that case, you should definitely burn it into your memory. The unfathomable power and beauty of Ms. Alium!"
For some reason, Suisen said this with his chest puffed out, looking proud.
While I was taken aback by that, I suddenly remembered something and asked him.
"By the way, I forgot to ask you something important last night, Suisen."
"Something important?"
"What's your job class?"
This was something I should have asked when I decided to take on the request last night.
About Suisen's job class.
If I don't know this, I can't even decide what kind of training I should do.
If he already has a certain level of skill, it would be better to train in the eastern ruins rather than the western forest.
Last night, it was late, and I had just come back from the request, so I was too sleepy to ask.
"Don't you have the ability to understand that kind of thing? Since your job class helps people grow, I thought you might have the ability to check Divine Revelation or something."
"I do have that ability, but I try to avoid looking at other people's Divine Revelation as much as possible. I don't like it feeling like I'm snooping, and it's become a habit. So please tell me your job class again."
When I asked Suisen again, he shrugged and laughed.
"Haha, I'm not someone who can be defined by a job class. I don't have a life predetermined by the gods; I'm walking my own destiny with my own will."
"Enough of that, just show me your Divine Revelation already."
"...Impatient guys aren't popular, you know."
I have no intention of indulging in such playful banter, so I dismiss it with a look of disbelief.
Suisen lets out a sigh, opens her right hand, and begins to chant a spell.
"Divine Revelation, I declare..."
But just before he could finish──.
Suisen suddenly gasps, his eyes widening as he looks down the street.
Without hesitation, he grabs my hand and pulls me into a side alley.
"W-What's going on? Why the sudden change...?"
Suisen peeks out from the alley, quietly observing the street.
Curious about what's happening, I also sneak a glance and see a trio of women walking towards us.
As they get closer, I can hear their voices.
"Suisen really got what he deserved."
"...?"
One of the trio mentions Suisen's name, and I sense a tense atmosphere.
Naturally, I lean in to listen, and another one nods in agreement with that statement.
"'Suisen the womanizer' really suits him, it made me laugh. I don't know who spread the bad rumors, but he must be too embarrassed to show his face at the guild now."
"Of course, it's only natural for her to face consequences after toying with Lady Sianna Navis. It seems there are many other female adventurers who have similar experiences, so she must have always been like that."
"..."
As the two continue their conversation, the purple-haired woman in the middle of the trio lowers her gentle eyes sadly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Lady Sianna Navis. I didn't mean to bring up unpleasant memories."
"Please don't worry about it. There's no reason for Lady Sianna Navis to feel sad over a man like that."
"Yes, I'm fine. I'm not bothered by it anymore."
The purple-haired woman forces a smile, placing her hand over her heart as she speaks in a pained voice.
"Besides, it's true that I was drawn to Sir Suisen. I would never say those days were bad memories. Sir Suisen faced me properly, so I have no regrets now. Please, everyone, don't worry."
""Lady Sianna Navis...""
The trio passed right in front of the path and gradually disappeared from view.
After they left, I turned to Suisen with an awkward feeling.
He was silent, looking sad, with his eyes downcast.
I couldn't fully grasp what had happened just from the conversation.
I could only understand that it was an unfavorable impression about Suisen.
In short, that was gossip about him.
So, as I hesitated to speak up, unsure if I should, Suisen seemed to sense my confusion and started talking.
"It's nothing serious. It's my fault for being too beautiful and making a woman misunderstand. It was awkward to face her, so I ended up hiding like this."
He tried to cover it up with his usual overconfident tone, but a sad atmosphere lingered on Suisen's face.
He continued, gazing blankly into the crowd, as if drawn by the purple-haired woman who had just passed by.
"That woman is Ms. Sianna Navis, an adventurer who was originally part of the same party. With her graceful personality and gentle appearance, she has many fans in the community, and during our adventures together, she developed feelings for me. However, when I turned her down because I didn't feel the same..."
"Could it be that the rumor spread from somewhere and reached the ears of the fans?"
Suisen nodded in silence.
If the fans heard such rumors, it was clear that it would lead to trouble.
"Especially since I was already causing sparks of trouble between men and women in various places. That's when all sorts of scandalous rumors started circulating."
When they heard the rumor that the person they admire got rejected, it's only natural that all eyes would turn to Suisen with disdain.
Especially if that person is someone so impure they're called a 'party destroyer,' it's inevitable that aggressive glares would gather.
I'll repeat it, but Suisen has no such feelings at all.
He's just a good-looking guy, and it's really unfortunate for him.
"But, I'm not worried about that anymore. I feel sorry for rejecting Ms. Sianna Navis, but now I truly have someone I'm determined to be with. Plus, Ms. Alium told me, 'Don't worry about what others think,' so no matter what rumors are going around in the guild, I'm not bothered at all."
"..."
Suisen, who has unintentionally misled many female adventurers and ended up spreading a bad reputation, still doesn't let it break his spirit and holds onto his unwavering beliefs.
His positive attitude, no matter what happens, made me involuntarily express my admiration.
"Suisen, you are strong."
"Didn't you forget to add 'beautiful'?"
"...Give me back my admiration."
He's such a loose end until the end.
But still, I think his ability to stay calm after hearing such terrible gossip is something to learn from.
"Well then, let's shake it off and go accept that subjugation request. I could go to the guild alone if you want. You wouldn't want to hear more of that gossip again..."
"I said I don't care about what others think, right? Of course, I'm going with you. I need to get stronger than Ms. Alium to succeed in my confession."
"Oh, by the way, what was Suisen's job class again? I forgot to ask earlier..."
I asked about his job class again, albeit a bit late.
Suisen then brushed his bangs aside and smiled.
"Hehe, how many times do you plan to make me say it? There's no predetermined way of life for me. A job class isn't something decided by the gods; it's something you find for yourself based on your own beliefs."
"That's enough of that, just hurry up and give me the Divine Revelation! We can't keep delaying the request forever!"
How many times are we going to repeat this? Something unexpected might come up again, and we might not make any progress.
Then Suisen shrugged as if to say 'good grief' and recited the phrase once more.
"[Show me the Divine Revelation]."
Finally, after a long wait, he pulled out the Divine Revelation and handed it to me.
Now I could finally decide on a suitable target for the hunt and a training location.
As I muttered 'let's see,' I looked down at the Divine Revelation I received...
"...Huh?"
I let out a completely bewildered sound.
Then I thought maybe I was seeing things, so I rubbed my eyes.
But there was no change in what I saw, and I was reminded that it wasn't an illusion.
I stood there, mouth agape, in shock.
Because what I saw was...
[Job Class]
[Level]
[Skill]
[Magic]
[Divine Blessing]
A blank page.
It was almost completely empty, like a blank sheet of paper.
When I looked over at Suisen with wide eyes, he was smiling proudly, brushing his blonde hair back.
"I told you, didn't I? I'm not someone who can be defined by that kind of thing. Not even a god can determine my fate."
