Volume 5 Chapter 5 A-class Adventurer
That night, after the new class started, Elk and the others finished the delicious dinner made by Mamma and were drinking tea in the lounge.
While sipping cold orange juice, Elk said,
"I can't believe I'm on the same team as Mr. Elwood. It feels like he's acting all friendly, forgetting that I totally beat him up before... it's kinda awkward."
Nickes laughed, "Haha," and looked at Gambo.
"Hey, what about your team?"
"I'm with Fine."
"That's Right! Gambo, me, and 3 other girls I just met! What about you, Yato?"
"I'm with Merry and 3 girls I don't know. They're not that impressive."
After saying that, Yato stood up and went back to her room.
Sophia, who was sitting with them, said,
"Tomorrow, senior adventurers are coming. They're all veterans of the dungeon, so just listening to them will be a great learning experience."
"That's cool... We're still stuck in lectures. The commerce department event is still a long way off, so I guess we'll just have to enjoy your stories for now."
Nickes shrugged.
Elk finished his juice just as Emma came down the stairs.
"Oh, Mr. Elk. I'm glad... um, here."
"What's this?"
Emma held out a familiar box to Elk, smiling with satisfaction.
"I finished the improved battle outfit."
"Oh, wow..."
"I also added the new gear that Mr. Nickes ordered."
"Kuku."
"Brother, you were contacting home for Mr. Elk's sake, huh?"
Merry looked exasperated.
Elk looks at Nickes with a side-eye, but notices that Emma is excited.
Then, Sophia seems to sense something.
"Elk. Why don't you try it on?"
"Uh, right now?"
As he says this, Emma looks at him with sparkling eyes.
He can't refuse anymore.
Elk smiles vaguely and heads to the changing room in the men's bath.
He opens the box and checks the combat outfit, noticing that the design has changed a bit.
It has a black coat, pants, boots, and even the gloves have embroidery, and the material is now flexible yet sturdy. The design of the mask with an eye patch has also changed. It covers his right eye with a black lens, leaving only the left eye exposed. Additionally, the mask part is designed to be breathable, like a dust mask. When he puts on the eye patch mask, only a quarter of his face is exposed, just the left eye area.
He puts on the pants, coat, eye patch mask, and long boots, and realizes something.
"Is this a gauntlet? I see. Instead of merging it with the coat, you attached the blade directly to the gauntlet..."
As he puts on the gauntlets and bends his wrists, hidden blades pop out from under his wrists.
This time, there's also a mechanism on the top of the gauntlet.
When he bends his wrists down, he hears a click, and titanium claws unfold. Surprisingly, they turn into a short bow.
And he just noticed that short arrows are stored inside the coat.
"This is seriously a hidden weapon... Emma, do you want to make me an assassin?"
The short bow is only on his right hand, while his left hand has a titanium panel attached. This left hand seems useful for defense. Of course, Elk doesn't really need it.
He checks his gear and steps out of the changing room.
"How do I look..."
"You look amazing!!"
"...Seriously an assassin now."
"...The mask is scary."
"......"
"......"
Emma was excited, Nickes smiled wryly, Fine shared her honest thoughts, and Gambo and Merry stayed silent.
"Co...cool."
Sophia murmured softly.
Emma immediately reacted and rushed over to Sophia.
"Right!! Miss Sophia, it's cool, isn't it!!"
"Yes!! This is an assassin from Yamato, right? I've read about it in books!!"
"Yes!! It was in the materials I borrowed from Ms. Yato, and I tried to arrange it my way!! The dual blades and short bow were arranged by Mr. Nickes."
"Hmm, hmm. Can I ask you some questions, Emma?"
"Of course, Sir Elk!!"
"Um... can I take it off?"
"No way!!"
Elk was dragged into the excitement of Emma and Sophia until late at night.

The next day.
A bit sleep-deprived, Elk arrived at the 7th training ground in his combat outfit.
Today's lesson was "Dungeon Practice Lecture," where they invited advanced adventurers to give lectures to each team.
Some teams had lectures in classrooms, while others, like Elk's, had them in the training ground.
It seemed like the training ground was reserved just for them.
Elk's team was already gathered.
Elwood was equipped with dual swords and had his arms crossed.
"The instructor adventurer should be here soon... Elk, are you sleepy?"
"A little..."
He couldn't say that Emma and Sophia were passionately discussing their combat outfits.
Elk replied casually and looked at his teammates.
"...Hmph!"
First, there was Janet.
It seemed Janet liked Elwood. So, she clearly disliked Elk, who had beaten Elwood in the individual match.
With wavy chestnut long hair tied with a ribbon, she wore a combat outfit that looked like a noble lady's dress. A quiver hung at her waist, and a folded bow was slung on her back.
"Yawn..."
The second one, Soara.
Her light blue short hair swayed... or rather, her head was bobbing side to side.
Maybe she was sleepy. She wore a baggy pajama-like combat outfit and also had a hood on. She didn't seem to have any real weapons.
"......"
And then, Kaya.
Elk thought she had a long spear? But actually, she was carrying a weapon called a 'naginata.' Maybe because she was from Yamato country, she wore a combat outfit similar to Yato's and crossed her arms.
Kaya glanced at Elk and said.
"Assassin's outfit... are you an assassin?"
"That's why I'm not an assassin... sigh."
Elk was starting to be seen as an assassin by the class.
As he slumped his shoulders, a man approached them.
"Oh, you guys are Team Black?"
"Um... who are you?"
When Elwood asked politely, the man replied.
"I'm Bob. I'm an A-rank adventurer in charge of Team Black. Nice to meet you."
"... Team Black?"
"Yeah, the team with the black stick, right? Apparently, that's just a convenient team name."
"I see."
Elwood nodded.
The adventurer who called himself Bob had dark skin, dreadlocked hair, and wore a tank top with a jacket. He carried an axe on his back.
He had a friendly smile and greeted Elk and the others.
"Once again, I'm Bob. I'm the A-rank adventurer who will guide you. Nice to meet you."
And so, the real 'Dungeon Practice' began.
