Volume 12 Chapter 23 Conquer The World Snake
When I asked "So, what's the plan?" Clay replied.
"Let's make Typhon as big as possible, right up to the limit. If I can make him about a kilometer long, we can probably handle this amount of rubble."
"Typhon's gonna get ridiculously huge, huh?"
"But Jormungand is at least ten times bigger than that. We can't win with just that."
I was surprised, but Mudi shook his head calmly. I thought he was trying to put water on it, but in reality, that's just how it was.
"Making Typhon any bigger than that..."
"Sorry, Wade-kun. That's still too hard for me."
"Yeah... it's not that Clay's not strong enough. It's just that Jormungand is way too huge."
"I get it. I know your personality well."
I forced a laugh and said "Oh well" to Clay, who was shrugging his shoulders. Then, I gazed at the still-distant Jormungand.
His enormous body had 2 heads on either end. One of them was silent and still, but the other was definitely treating us as enemies and closing in on us.
"That thing's gonna reach us soon. Mudi, don't you have any info that could give us an advantage?"
"In the myth of Ragnarok, Thor was the one who killed Jormungand. He's the god of thunder, one of the highest-ranking gods alongside Odin. But it was a mutual kill."
"Thunder, huh... should we call Sandra again?"
I tried contacting her through the communication ring, but there was no response. She's probably still in the middle of catching up with Rollo.
"No good. We'll have to fight alone."
"Well, even Thor only managed a mutual kill. We're gonna take it down one-sidedly, so we don't need to borrow someone else's strength."
Since this is a saying that the highest god is the highest, Mudi's words are pretty impressive. ...No, as a platinum torch adventurer, he's already a big deal at that point. I was careless.
Clay didn't bat an eye as he stared at Jormungand, and finally spoke.
"There's no more time to hesitate. I'll make Typhon bigger first."
Clay bit his finger, and the blood that dripped from it fell to the ground. Then, the ground opened its mouth and a massive hole swallowed Clay.
'Aaah... Next battle, here I come!'
A loud roar echoed. And following that, Typhon stood up.
We were naturally standing on his shoulder. Typhon burst out laughing, 'Hahahahaha! What's with this huge guy!' without losing any tension, even with Jormungand right in front of him.
"That's our enemy this time, Typhon. Before we clash, absorb the nearby rubble and grow as big as you can to fight."
'Oooh! Let's gooo!'
The moment Clay gave the instructions, Typhon took off in a straight line.
Jormungand was coming straight at us. Without any hesitation, Typhon advanced forward.
"Clay! Is this okay? Is Typhon listening to you?"
"He's listening. And with my calculations, there's no problem."
The moment Clay replied from inside Typhon, the height of Typhon's shoulder suddenly shot up.
I calculated the current height from the surrounding scenery. Initially, it was around 50 meters long (≈164 feet), but after growing twice, it had already reached over 100 meters (≈328 feet).
'Not yet!'
Typhon's growth was accelerating, getting faster and faster as it grew bigger.
From 100 meters (≈ 328 feet) to 200 meters (≈ 656 feet). From 200 meters to 400 meters. From 400 meters (≈ 1,312 feet) to 800 meters (≈ 2,625 feet).
The advancing Bazaar is covered in rubble, and Typhon is growing exponentially. The cityscape is getting farther and farther away, looking like a miniature.
If he keeps growing at this rate, he'll surpass Jormungand in no time, right? It's almost unbelievable.
But the growth slows down around this point. It reaches a height of 1 kilometer (≈ 0.62 miles), but Typhon doesn't get any bigger than that.
"The problem is the strength of the rubble he's using as material."
Clay says from inside Typhon.
"Typhon's own body could grow even bigger, maybe even rivaling Jormungand in his true form. But this body is made of dirt and rubble, and it doesn't have the strength to support a giant like that."
This is my limit, Clay says with a sigh.
And so, Typhon faces off against Jormungand.
'Hahahahaha! This guy is huge! I'm scared just looking up at it!'
But! Typhon leaps into the air.
'I won't lose! I won't admit defeat! I'm not a coward!'
Typhon charges at Jormungand, and then starts climbing up his body.
'Hahahahaha!'
Typhon laughs loudly as he continues to climb. I'm impressed by his tenacity, and I can't help but think, "Typhon is amazing!"
But Jormungand isn't going to take this lying down. He won't ignore Typhon's massive size, and he twists his body, raging and trying to shake Typhon off.
'WOOOOOOO!'
Finally, Typhoon was blown away. "Haha, it's my turn now," I said with a wry smile, activating my magic.
"Typhoon, from here on out, it's my show! ————Brahma=Artman! Object Point Shift!"
I chanted the fundamental mantra and curse. I wouldn't hold back against Jormungand, going all-out from the start.
My second brain, Sahasrara Chakra, roared to life, creating magical energy. I poured all that energy into Typhoon, lifting his massive body with gravity magic!
"Typhoon! I'll make you fly!"
Typhoon's enormous body soared even higher.
'WOOOOOOOOOOOO! Wade! Oh, you're the best!'
Typhoon fell from the sky, then dropped down towards Jormungand's head, his fist clenched. Typhoon's massive fist came crashing down on Jormungand's head.
'ORAORAORA! TAKE THISSS!'
The sound of the impact was deafening. Typhoon's massive fist had struck Jormungand's thick skull.
I gritted my teeth and covered my ears at the sound, reminiscent of a Level 100 bell tolling at midnight.
Mudi said,
"As expected of the World Serpent. It's still going strong."
"HISSSS!"
Jormungand let out a fierce roar, blood dripping from his nose as he bared his fangs at us.
And then, he flipped his body over.
'It's bad!'
Jormungand effortlessly moved his massive body, trying to slam his half-body onto us with full force.
I tried to dodge it with gravity magic, but my Sahasrara Chakra's magical energy output couldn't keep up. Ah, man... I guess I can't fly a whole kilometer-long mass like my own body, after all!
Jormungand's attack is closing in. Even with Typhon's strength, which is barely holding on, I don't think hecan withstand that one hit.
Mudi clicked his tongue.
"Ugh, you're really useless, disciples. You can't even put up a decent fight against Jormungand!"
Mudi strolled towards Jormungand's body with an air of casualness, as if gravity didn't exist. He stood upright, parallel to the ground, and raised his hand towards Jormungand's body.
Just as the attack was about to land, he said.
"Reverse!"
Jormungand's body flew backwards as if he had been hit by a massive attack.
"Woah! Mudi, you did it!"
I praised Mudi, but he looked down at his hand with a scowl, clicking his tongue even more harshly than before.
"Tch... I'm out of magical energy. I need a break."
"Ah... I guess we're in the same situation, then. How long do you need to rest to recover your Sahasrara Chakra's energy?"
"Roughly a few dozen seconds, I'd say."
"I'm about the same. In other words―――."
We stood side by side, facing Jormungand as it approached us again.
"We won't make it in time for the next attack."
"Clay, sorry, but we need to retreat. Let's carry you and make a run for it. Come on out!"
"Got it, Mudi-san. Typhon, it's not over yet, but you'll be our decoy for now."
'Alright! Let's do this again and get even crazier next time!'
We retrieved Clay and quickly escaped from Typhon's shadow.
A beat late, Jormungand's blow struck Typhon down. Typhon's massive body, hit by an even more massive blow, shattered into pieces and scattered everywhere.
