Volume 10 Chapter 11 The Wolf's Fierce Battle

The memories that flashed through Don Fen's mind, which had crawled out of the rubble, were those of a great war he had never experienced before.

The giant, rampaging gods and the unending catastrophes that brought every kind of hardship and suffering.

There, Don Fen fought on. He fought on, baring his teeth. He had definitely killed someone.

But he had forgotten who it was and what it meant. He probably wouldn't remember it anyway.

He may have been torn apart himself.

 "...What is this?"

As if shaking off the memories that had suddenly flooded his mind, Fen muttered in a low, growling tone.

The rubble spread out before his eyes, the rubble, the rubble, the rubble. A storm was brewing right in front of him. And at its center stood a small, dark figure.

A god. Fen instinctively knew it. He had never seen a god in his lifetime, but somehow, he knew it at a glance.

"What is this?! Who brought a god into this peaceful Nilfheim?!"

Fen's furious roar echoed, but there was no one to answer him.

A little later, his subordinates crawled out of the rubble.

 "Don, this is...!"

"Those who can move, follow me! It's war! Someone has brought a god into this slum!"

"Whoa, got it! Hey! Don's going to challenge that thing at the center! How many of you can move?"

In response to Fen's order, his subordinates scrambled to their feet. The veteran subordinates, who had been sleeping, slowly crawled out of the rubble, one by one.

"What's with you, Don? Are you going to do something that troublesome?"

"Yeah, I'll do it. A god doesn't belong in Nilfheim. I'll kill it."

"What's with this god thing? This is hell, isn't it? Why would a god come here?"

His subordinates laughed, not believing what Fen said.

But they didn't believe it, that's all.

"Well, it doesn't matter what the god is. If Don says we're going, then we're going."

One of his subordinates said, and the others started to gather, saying, "That's right," "It's more fun to challenge a god," "Let's go wild and have some fun," and "My arms are itching for a fight."

 "Let's go, you guys. It's god-hunting time."

 'Roger!'

Fen's order was met with a unified response from his subordinates. At the same time, Fen and his group took off.

The fastest one among them was Fen. He sprinted through the storm with his incredible leg strength. Amidst the storm, the sound of screams echoed from behind, but Fen's tough skin wouldn't allow any wounds.

And then, Fen caught sight of the enemy god with his own eyes. A half-naked man with a 3-pronged spear, sporting a beard.

Fen asked in a growling tone.

 "What the hell are you?"

The god glared at Fen and replied.

'My name is Poseidon. I am the great god who rules over the sea and earthquakes.'

Fen's claws clashed with the 3-pronged spear.

A loud, ear-piercing sound echoed. Fen quickly realized he was at a disadvantage and retreated.

"That spear... it's not just any spear... it's got power!"

'You... you have a familiar scent. Giant. The smell of your blood. Who are you?'

Fen and Poseidon kept their distance, each wary of the other's weapons. Then, Fen thought about Poseidon.

It seemed like they were having a conversation. But probably not. It wasn't a conversation; Fen just sensed something nostalgic within himself.

At the same time, Fen muttered to himself, feeling frustrated.

"What's with the giant's blood? I'm all alone in this world, you know? Seriously."

Around that time, his tough subordinates started gathering around him, one by one. When he turned around, there were about ten of them.

 "Hey! Where's everyone else?!"

"Sorry! They all got blown away!"

"Tch! Whatever. If they got blown away here, that means they're safe, at least."

The members of Ede Wolf's organization, which made up about half of the population of the Dark Guild, numbered around a thousand. And among those who were in the recently collapsed building, there were about fifty people, which is one-twentieth of that number.

In other words, 4-fifths of the subordinates Fen had called out were blown away by the storm. Damn, Fen cursed inwardly.

The building where Fen was staying had gathered strong individuals and those with potential, all handpicked by Fen himself.

And now, they were in this state. The other members who were staying in different buildings were probably all blown away and unable to recover.

For demons, what's terrifying is not their own death, but a change in their environment. For example, like now, being buried alive in a half-collapsed building is way more troublesome than being killed instantly.

Fen regained consciousness and returned to Poseidon. Poseidon, to further strengthen the storm, held the trident high.

 Fen gave an order.

"I'll use my Domain Control to bind him! Take advantage of the opening and kill him with all your might!"

 'Roger!'

There's no reason to hold back anymore. From now on, he'll use all his strength to take down this brutal god.

Fen grasped his own body, as if bound, and said,

 "Domain Control, 'Gleipnir'!"

A massive amount of rope burst out, wrapping around the center of the storm.

 'Hmm...?'

Poseidon looked puzzled. Fen stood up straight, puffed out his chest, and pointed at Poseidon.

 "Bind him, Gleipnir!"

Countless ropes emerged from the surrounding massive ropes, heading towards Poseidon.

Gleipnir is a powerful binding rope that can even restrain gods.

Fen was confident that even this god in front of him wouldn't be able to escape once bound by Gleipnir. All that's left is to crush him mercilessly.

But just as Fen thought he had the upper hand, Poseidon struck the ground with the butt of his trident and said,

'Domain Control, 'Atlantis (City at the Bottom of the Water)'!'

A massive amount of water gushed out from the struck ground.

 "What the...?!"

The sheer quantity of water overwhelmed Fen's Domain Control. He realized it was seawater, and that's what it means to be a sea god.

However, Fen didn't give up. "Gleipnir!" he shouted, stretching out his hand from the sea surface, and using the extended rope to escape from the sea.

 'Hahahahahahaha!'

But Poseidon didn't let up, using his advantage to manipulate the sea and launch a powerful water cannon at Fen.

 "Don't underestimate me!"

Fen repelled that. Gleipnir gathered and created a wall, deflecting the cannonballs that were fired at Fen.

 'Not yet, beast!'

 "Shut up!"

The cannonballs came from all directions. However, Fen, who had regained his composure, deflected all of them with Gleipnir.

And so, they faced off. With Fen, who was suspended in the air by the ropes and constructing a defensive wall, and Poseidon, who was laughing maniacally while being protected by the turbulent waters, a fierce battle scene unfolded.

"Damn it! Did the others... get swept away?"

Due to the raging sea, Fen's subordinates were now unaccounted for.

It was likely that only Fen had survived due to the Domain Control's counter.

"...Sorry. It's my fault for underestimating him. I should've let them all escape."

 Fen gritted his teeth.

Ede Wolf was a community that was like family to Fen. If they were being tormented by the Demon King's army, he had to save them.

In that sense, Fen had committed a grave mistake. Many of his family members were likely suffering, swept away by the waves.

He regretted not evacuating them immediately, misjudging the enemy's power.

"...If it's Domain Control, I can take it down from here... no."

He considered competing with Poseidon's Domain Control, but gave up.

"No use. It's not just Domain Control. The battle situation is completely unfavorable."

If Fen attacked Poseidon and dove into the sea, he would only be swept away by the turbulent waters.

At the same time, Poseidon didn't have an effective way to attack Fen.

 "...Tch."

 'Hmph...'

Without resolving their Domain Control, they silently kept their distance. Fen was suspended high in the air by Gleipnir, riding on a single rope that was stretched taut.

"This won't end well, god. You're the one I'll kill."

'Everything, everything will be devoured. All who oppose me, all!'

Fen, filled with regret, used the recoil of Gleipnir to propel himself away from the scene at high speed.

What's left is only the Sea God's Domain Control. The sea that sank the Slum continues to rage on.
