Volume 6 Chapter 34 Discarder
The goals Sandra had set in her mind were 2.
One was to protect the remaining delivery team from "Discarder" and others. Fortunately, "Discarder" didn't notice that the 2 who were trembling in fear were actually working on unlocking.
The other was to defeat "Discarder". Although it seemed like a formidable opponent, Sandra didn't think it was impossible. The magic sword that could track its target was troublesome, but she didn't feel like she would lose to that extent.
So Sandra used her magic, "Electro Barrier", to protect the 2 behind her and faced "Discarder".
"Are you ready, 'Thunder Strike' Sandra?"
"I'm fully ready. I'll crush you."
"You're not saying 'kill', so you might have a kind heart, huh?"
As she said that, "Discarder" suddenly closed in on Sandra. Magic sword. Sandra judged and chanted.
"Spark!"
This attack was faster than her magic.
A flash of light magic burst forth at close range. Its power was unlike anything usual. By releasing the hidden power she had been accumulating day by day, she could unleash an even greater magic.
However, "Discarder" was blown away, but she seemed to have defended against Sandra's magic with the single-edged sword in her left hand.
"Whoa! You're doing it! Instead of trying to avoid the attack and reduce the damage, you're forcing your way through and making the attack land! You're indeed the daughter of 'Chaos' and 'Destruction'!"
"...Do you know my parents?"
"Of course I do. Those 2 are legends. When I was a silver-ranked adventurer, they were rumored to be on the verge of becoming platinum-ranked. In the end, that didn't happen, though."
"No choice. I don't know the details, but the 2 of them died, taking an entire city with them."
"I've heard it was a magnificent finale. That's why I've been interested in you... So, I'll get a bit more serious now."
The 'Discarder' sheathed the 'Magic Cutter', a single-edged sword, and grasped the Following Sword with both hands. Then, as she poured her strength into her grasping hand, the magic sword's eyes opened wide, and it began to surge with power.
Sandra sensed it intuitively.
"You're forcing it on the sword."
"You're right. This is one of the curses I bear. It's why I've got this terrible nickname 'Discarder'... but it's also saved me many times."
Here I go.
The 'Discarder' swung her sword. The blade stretched out like a whip, attacking Sandra. Sandra dodged it with her "Thunder Speed" at high velocity.
But Sandra wasn't done yet. In the same flash of lightning, she circled around behind the 'Discarder'. She landed. The 'Discarder' still couldn't react to Sandra in normal time.
"Thunderbolt!"
Sandra released static electricity from her arm into the air, summoning a lightning bolt. The 'Discarder' turned around, and Sandra met her.
"Spark!"
"Too sweet!"
The sword flash that was swung in reverse, cutting through the lightning bolt, was also cut down. Sandra barely dodged it with her Swadhisthana Chakra, but lost her footing and fell.
"Whoa, but that's a chance!"
Sandra fell, lightly landing on her hands, and then did a flip, descending from roof to roof. When she landed on the ground floor, a phantom beast surprised her, but an ice soldier immediately pierced it with a spear.
With the ice spear at its center, the phantom beast froze from its core. As she looked, an equal number of ice soldiers were engaging in a fierce battle with the phantom beasts in the plaza.
"Ice, you're doing great!"
'Sandra-chan, focus... 'Discarder'-san is coming after you, okay?"
"Don't worry, I've got your back. Spark!"
The 'Discarder', who was falling while stretching out her following sword, was cutting at Sandra. Sandra dodged it while running through the plaza, where the phantom beasts and ice soldiers were clashing.
"Whoa, it's come to this in the plaza! 'Thunder Strike' has brought so many allies!"
"Secret. Thunderbolt."
"I'm telling you, it's not like I can just casually use magic that can drop lightning bolts But..."
"You can use what you can use."
In other words, even if she says that magic can't be used so easily, the 'Discarder' that's chasing her down with a single sword is way too strong.
Sandra thinks. In terms of offense and defense, they're almost evenly matched. Sandra can somehow dodge the 'Discarder's' attacks, and the 'Discarder' can handle Sandra's attacks.
So, I need to come up with a plan. Sandra thinks, and then it hits her.
"That's it. If the enemy is a swordsman, I can use it for the first time in a while."
Sandra herself rarely uses this magic. It's a single technique she used when she was under Eiosnight's command.
"Electromagnet."
"What the... ."
Sandra uses electromagnetic force to strongly attract and steal the 'Discarder's' sword. She grabs the sword that's flown into her hand and releases a counterattack.
"No way, you were hiding that kind of magic."
"No, I forgot."
The following sword that's passed into Sandra's hand stretches out and knocks the 'Discarder' down. As expected of a skilled swordsman, she quickly pulls out a 'Magic Cutter' to defend against the following sword.
But this is where the tide turns.
Sandra judges the situation and wildly swings the following sword at the 'Discarder'. All of her attacks are blocked by the 'Discarder', but that's okay.
Right now, Sandra is dealing damage not to the 'Discarder', but to the following sword itself.
"Guu, return it!"
"I won't return it."
Sandra uses a flash of lightning-fast magic to toy with the 'Discarder', who's trying to take it back. She dashes up the wall in one go and strikes the 'Discarder' from above. Of course, it's blocked, and the time has come.
The following sword shatters. The 'Discarder's' face turns pale.
"...It's over now."
Thunder Speed. Sandra stood in front of "Discarder" once again, radiating electricity. "Discarder" gritted her teeth and drew her sword, but it was already meaningless.
Swadhisthana Chakra allowed Sandra to dodge every attack with ease. With just a slight tremble, "Discarder"'s sword strikes missed their mark without fail.
"Ugh, is this it? Is this also useless? Then what about this side?"
"Discarder" kept drawing and discarding her sword, and finally grasped her favorite single-edged sword, cornering Sandra against the wall.
"Do you have any last words?"
"...Haha."
"Discarder." forced a smile and said,
"I'll take off your neck as soon as I can."
"Sorry. I don't kill people easily. Spark!"
As Sandra received the flash of light head-on, "Discarder" collapsed. Her fallen figure declared,
"I said it earlier, I love my parents, but I don't respect them. Because killing enemies and dying in satisfaction is just too cliché."
Sandra thought of Wade, remembering his previous near-death experience. After becoming immortal, Sandra's husband, who had faced true strength and approached death.
But Wade had laughed in the face of his own death.
"―――That's living. Even in the midst of despair, trying and erring with a bright heart is the ideal madness."
"That's...true, hard to imitate, huh."
With those final words, "Discarder" lost consciousness. Sandra wondered if the 2 of them had safely unlocked their restraints, and looked back.
There, Fist of the Dragon stood.
"Ah, first―――Thunder Speed!"
Sandra fled in a flash, transforming into electricity and speeding away. Fist of the Dragon didn't bother to chase after her with his eyes like last time. Instead, he matched Sandra's electrified speed and pursued her.
Sandra ran wildly to buy time, scaling walls, traversing roofs, and climbing higher and higher.
And then, she realized the dire situation.
"...Annihilation."
Clay and Toxy, as well as Ice's ice soldiers, were all defeated. Not a single phantom beast was left standing, and the dead bodies were piling up.
So, what about Kadras and Dream? Sandra saw the door to Wade's room through the broken wall that had suddenly collapsed.
There was no one in sight. They hadn't escaped ―― no, they just couldn't be seen. Sandra had been freed from Dream's invisible magic, which was why she couldn't see the 2 of them anymore. The 2 were still trying to break free.
So, Sandra had to fulfill her role.
"Where are you looking?"
Sandra reflexively turned around at the voice she heard from behind her ear. Fist of the Dragon was closing in on her from a very short distance. She tried to escape, but it was no use. Her speed was being stripped away. The magic of the lightning-fast stone was being undone.
"Ah, 'Indra'..."
"It's no use."
Fist of the Dragon grasped at Sandra countless times. The Swadhisthana Chakra, which didn't exist, was dodging Fist of the Dragon's hands for Sandra. But it was clear that her concentration was being physically drained with each attempt.
Sandra tried to escape. But Fist of the Dragon was closing in on her from a short distance, almost like teleporting. The grasping hands, which continued to appear one after another like a raging wave, were chipping away at Sandra's concentration.
Poof, and Sandra's concentration was finally broken.
"I've got you!"
The Swadhisthana Chakra, exhausted, closed its eyes in Sandra's belly. Fist of the Dragon's hand grasped Sandra's hand, pulled her with all his might, and threw her.
From the broken wall, Sandra was slammed into the wall beside Wade's room door, accompanied by a loud crash. Her entire body was numb, and she couldn't move properly.
The Durandal that was slipping out from her waist was the last hope she had to deliver to Wade.
At that moment, the sound of a key unlocking was heard. Sandra opened her eyes wide. This was――
"Ah, I see. So the 2 of them were there after all."
Fist of the Dragon's hand swept away. Kadras and Dream were blown away in an instant. Silence. It was impossible for 2 silver-ranked individuals to be opponents for Fist of the Dragon.
"Is this the end? Or do you still have a trick up your sleeve?"
Fist of the Dragon gazed down at Sandra, asking in a calm tone. Sandra trembled, but continued to think with her exhausted brain.
The door was... slightly ajar. Were there any other options? Clay and Toxy were no good. Ice's snowman had crumbled somewhere along the line. Kadras and Dream couldn't get back up.
So, she said:
"Frain, shoot Durandal!"
I knew that without you saying it. Snipe Fire.'
In that instant, Durandal jumped on its own and slipped through the gap in the door. Fist of the Dragon's eyes widened, and he let out a "Ha!" of laughter.
"You did it. That's impressive."
Fist of the Dragon struck the door, destroying it.
The broken door flew to the back of the room. Immediately after, it split into 2 in mid-air and scattered.
There, Wade was standing. With multiple crystal swords floating around him, he held the long sword Durandal in his right hand, having cut down the door.
Fist of the Dragon said.
"That's how it is. Your friends seem to have used up their last strength to entrust you with their trump card. That's enviable."
"Ah, it's enviable, isn't it? My proud friends. It's thanks to everyone that I, a captive princess, can act like a hero."
Wade smiled softly at Sandra, and she felt a surge of emotions.
So, he said.
"Wade. We did our best. We super did our best. So, we won. We won for ourselves―――for Karditsa, we won."
"Leave it to me."
Wade readied himself. He held out his left hand, and placed the Durandal on his shoulder.
Then, as if remembering something, he asked.
"Can we escape?"
'Wade-kun... That's okay. Right now, Frain-kun and my Ice Soldier are facing the other, so...'
"I got it. Count on me, Ice, Frain."
As Wade heard Ice's words from the Calling Ring, he relaxed his shoulders and let out a unnecessary tension. Then he said,
"Brahma = Atman."
Magic was cast on Wade. The sorcery took residence. His chakra was activated, and the gods blessed Wade.
Wade said,
"It's about time. I've finally gotten the fangs that can reach you, Sieg. Now, I can fight you on equal terms."
Fist of the Dragon laughed before that.
"Finally, the preparations are complete, Wade. I've waited for this moment, this instant, for so long... I'll enjoy it to the death."
But then, Fist of the Dragon took a stance. Something behind him touched his shoulder, as if protecting him.
"I won't let you win easily. Wade, you'll surely catch a glimpse of the gods."
Wade and Fist of the Dragon faced off. The last and only hope of Karditsa and the great hero, equal to a god, clashed.
