Volume 6 Chapter 10 Know The Enemy
The next day, the entire party visited the guild.
"Yesterday, I was really worried, you know..."
"Seriously. Why did I believe you and send you off? Only for you to come back as a doll?"
"I was really in a panic."
"I'm really sorry, everyone."
I just hung my head in silence as my 3 wives scolded me. "Is Wade weak to the woman he fell for?" "Women he fell for? How many?" "All of them." "Wow..." I hear the voices around me.
I raised my head.
"Well, I managed to get everything I wanted, understand what Mudi wanted to say, so..."
"Have you reflected on your actions?"
"Yes!"
"Then I'll forgive you..."
When I got Ice's forgiveness, I let out a sigh of relief. I glanced at the other two, "Well, if Ice-chan forgave him, then it's fine." "No objections from the First Lady."
I was a little curious, so I asked,
"Do you 3 have a hierarchy?"
"It's not really a hierarchy, but there is an order. Wade dropped me first, but he doesn't monopolize me, so there's still consideration for Ice-chan."
"If Ice wasn't so understanding, it would have been a mess."
"Huh? But Wade-kun isn't the type to settle for just one person like me, and when he doesn't take care of himself, that's when I scold him, so..."
"No, I think that's a very valid reason to be angry. I'm sorry."
"Since I've already forgiven you, there's no need to apologize excessively, Wade-kun."
I was scolded, but the content was comforting. Ice is so cute.
"So, when will this harem couple's fight be over, Clay?"
"I think it's already over, Frain-kun."
Frain seemed dissatisfied with the completely unrelated teasing. Clay was drinking something as if it was nothing new.
"Oh, sorry. So, should we start the information sharing meeting?"
When I said that, everyone changed the atmosphere.
The members consist of my party and Frain's party. In total, there are 11 of us. Frain recently received a gold Sword adventurer certificate, so the majority of us have become openly recognized as gold adventurers.
This sight seems quite spectacular, as people around us are saying things like, "Wow, the 2 young giants are standing side by side," and "Is this about a war? It might be good to listen to what leaks out."
Frain must have been listening in on the surroundings because he starts off by saying to us,
"I'll preface this by saying that we're assuming the information will spread among the people around us. We don't know how useful it will be to them, but it's better than not knowing―――Listen up, guys! We're not hiding anything, so feel free to ask! No matter how much you spread the word, there won't be any consequences!"
When Frain says this loudly, the adventurers around us start looking around and slowly gather around us.
I confirm with Frain,
"This is about the pre-war information, right?"
"That's right. The names and characteristics of the notable enemy generals. We were told by the lord to spread the word at the guild. It was the day when you guys refused, saying you wanted to rest."
"Ah... that day."
A few days ago, Windy had informed us about the gathering, but we declined. We simply wanted to take a rest because we were exhausted.
"Seriously, I've never seen anyone reject Lord's orders like you."
"Well, now we're like half-family, so he listen to my whims. It's all thanks to Lord's mercy."
"Tch. I wonder how you made those connections, Wade."
I look at Clay. Clay shrugs and says, "It's because nobles have a culture of blood and family. If you want to get your will through, there's no other way but to cozy up to them."
"I see. Anyway, let's get to the main point then―――The army currently approaching Karditsa is the Fist of the Dragon. He will become the main force of the Arrogant King. Do you grasp that much?"
"Yeah. I think that's within the range of common knowledge."
"If Wade, who lacks common sense, says so, then there's no need for an explanation――"
"Hey, Frain――"
"――Let's get into the details of their composition right away."
Ignoring my protest, Frain continues.
"The Fist of the Dragon Army is composed of the commander 'Fist of the Dragon' and 4 commanders who wield power under him, known as the 'Four Heavenly Kings of the Fist of the Dragon,' as well as countless soldiers under their command."
One leader and 4 sub-members, as well as countless armies.
"The strength of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Fist of the Dragon is generally considered to be at or above the gold level. They don't belong to a guild, so they don't have an official rank, but they are said to have achieved the equivalent level of success."
"I sort of understand, Frain. So, they're the ones we have to defeat, right?"
"Exactly. I might be able to handle one of them, but overall, that's the plan. Especially the top member, Fist of the Dragon, Wade, probably has his eyes only on you."
Frain looks at me. I nod silently.
"I will explain each of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Fist of the Dragon individually."
Frain declares in a relatively loud voice, and I can tell that the surrounding adventurers are paying attention.
"The members known as the Four Heavenly Kings of the Fist of the Dragon each have a nickname. Since I don't know their real names, I will introduce them by their nickname and their ability."
"Got it."
"First, 'Wrath'."
As Frain speaks, Kadras quietly places a portrait on the table. It shows a man with a lethargic, listless face and a beard.
"He wields the magic sword Gram, one of the Thirteen Blades of Victory, and is a formidable swordsman who can kill everyone around him, friend or foe, with a single swing of his sword. That's all there is to say about him. As an individual fighter, he is overwhelming. Anyone without skills at the gold level or higher should run away."
"Gram..."
Sandra mutters. The Cursed Thirteen Blades of Victory. The sword that nearly killed me. Just hearing the name of this sword makes me realize, 'Ah, this is a dangerous opponent.'
"Second, 'Discarder'."
Kadras places a portrait. A woman with a dignified atmosphere and blonde hair is drawn. She is clad in armor, with the appearance of a female knight.
"This one's a swordsman too. I heard she's in an abnormal realm in terms of sword skills. No sword can match her skill, and as a result, she has a strange fighting style that seems to discard famous swords."
"Hmph. Discarding weapons that are like companions make her a second-rate swordsman at that point."
"I agree. Weapons should be carefully maintained and used for a long time to become attached to them."
Gold spits out. He seems to have mixed feelings as a blacksmith and a swordsman.
"Third, 'Phantom Beast Army'."
Kadras takes out a portrait. A demure lady with closed eyes is drawn. She is dressed in a dress and doesn't look like an enemy in a war.
"She may look like some noblewoman, but she has the abilities befitting her nickname. She learned a different magic system from us and is said to summon a vast number of mythical beasts from mythology to form an army."
"Summoning magic, I guess. It's a legitimate way of using magic, unlike us weirdos."
"If she can form an army, then she must be a skilled fighter. Philia-san also said she gave up on that path. This woman probably has a huge amount of magic power and knowledge."
Toxy and Clay analyze with difficult expressions. The surrounding adventurers say, "I can't believe a slim girl like her" and "I think even I could win," with puzzled looks.
"The 4th and final one is the 'Narcissistic Bard'."
Kadras takes out a portrait. It's a refreshing young man wearing a hat and showing an archaic smile. He has a rather suspicious air about him.
"He's the strangest one. He fights while praising himself all the time. But he's strong, that's all I know."
"I only understand the weird part."
"Yeah. I don't understand this guy either. I think he uses a different magic system."
Frain and I frown as we look at the portrait. This one has almost no information. He's like a 'mystery' man.
"And the commander, 'Fist of the Dragon'."
Kadras takes out a portrait. It's plain but has a strong face. The same face I saw the other day. Fist of the Dragon. A great hero with powerful arms that seem capable of punching even dragons to death.
"He uses his fists. That's all I know. He's said to settle every fight with just his fists. Be it monsters, thieves, or dragons, he's punched them all to death. He doesn't seem human. His strength is at a platinum rank. If you meet him, other than Wade, it's all over."
Then, Frain looks at me.
"Wade, you're the one who has to win. Whether you can win or not, there's no point in asking. Just win. Otherwise, it's all over."
The room falls silent. Everyone's attention is on me.
That's when I remembered the request for a speech. It's to encourage the adventurers sent by the guild to participate in the war.
I look around. They must all be adventurers who are interested in our conversation and are participating in this war. They're all looking at me with some kind of expectation in their eyes.
Then, should I live up to their expectations?
I stand up and climb onto the table. I'm not used to this kind of thing, but I'll try giving a speech.
