Volume 6 Chapter 11 Let Out a Mighty Roar

Volume 6 Chapter 11 Let Out A Mighty Roar

As I suddenly climbed onto the table, the members of my party and the Frain party looked at me with surprised expressions. However, they quickly regained their composure and continued to remain silent.

I took a deep breath to calm my nerves and opened my mouth.

"It's a good opportunity, so I'd like to say a few things here"

As I spoke to everyone, the adventurers who were quietly whispering to each other also began to quiet down.

"This time, Karditsa is in a desperate situation. The enemy is the Fist of the Dragon. A great hero who is unknown to no adventurer has come to trample our territory."

I spoke in a normal tone, and a slight atmosphere of unease spread throughout. It's important to start with something light and avoid creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.

"It's a real pain. Adventurers like us live day-to-day, winning and losing, and making a living. That's just the way it is. But then, a war breaks out, and the enemy is as strong as platinum-rank. It's ridiculous."

The emotions felt by those around me were a slight sense of unease and fear. However, that emotion could be covered up by another emotion.

 "Honestly, it's a ridiculous story."

 Anger.

I used words to make the adventurers feel that anger.

"Why Karditsa? Don't you think so? Why is our city being targeted. It's unfair. But even so, the Fist of the Dragon army will come. There's nothing we can do about it. Even platinum-rank adventurers like 'Oath' couldn't stop him. We don't have anyone left to protect us."

 I took a deep breath.

"I was born in Karditsa. This is my hometown. I know that there are few who know that I was born in the slums. Who has been beaten by their parents and raised like that? It's common knowledge that my magic is Slow Magic."

I joked, and the silence that followed was expected. This is a kind of debt that I owe to all adventurers. The adventurers who did not mock me for my Slow Magic are few.

"I mean, it's weird for me to say this, but the first thing I got was pretty rough. But I'm grateful to Karditsa for it. If I hadn't gone to the adventurer training center, I'd probably still be rummaging through garbage cans in the slums. I'd get beaten by my parents and wouldn't be able to eat a decent meal, and I'd be a skinny dog like that.

As I said, there were some adventurers who looked at me with suspicion. They thought I was a monster that was beyond their reach. Maybe they even hated or resented me.

But that's not the case. We all started the same way. In fact, I was at the bottom. But I'm grateful to Karditsa. And when people hear that, they'll all listen to me with a sympathetic ear.

I clenched my fist and continued.

"Karditsa gave me a chance. No matter how scummy you are, you can become an adventurer for free, and Karditsa will give you a chance. Are there many adventurers like that among you? People with scars on their legs and former sl*ves? Maybe so. But if you can live as an adventurer, you can survive in this city."

I looked around. The adventurers in the audience looked at me with thoughtful expressions, as if they were thinking about something.

"Many adventurers were helped by the training center. If you go there, you can eat even if you're in a bad situation. If you train hard enough, you can become an adventurer and live. Some adventurers may die, but that's just the way it is."

I'm an example of that. If I had just stayed at home, I would have been killed by my crazy father.

"So, who set up the training center? It wasn't the Guild. The training center isn't just found in any territory. Karditsa funded the adventurer support project, and that's how the Guild-connected training center was established."

Then, I pause for a moment and declare to everyone.

"And now, Karditsa is about to be crushed by the Fist of the Dragon."

 The audience gasps in surprise.

"Are you going to let them shoot arrows at our hometown? Are you going to let them? Whatever the circumstances, we've grown up to be a adventurer, and we've been raised to be one. But Karditsa is falling."

I'm talking with emotion. My anger is spreading to those around me.

"I won't forgive it. That's why I'll fight. For Karditsa. To protect our hometown."

I clench my fist tightly. Ah, that's right. I've thought about not being favored many times. But now, I'm favored. By my comrades. By fate.

"What about you guys? Are you going to abandon Karditsa and run away? Is it meaningless to fight against an opponent you can't win against? Are you raising the white flag?"

 "Fight! I'll fight! Wade!"

My friend who has been bothering me, a fellow adventurer, shouts with passion. That's great. People like them are born to incite passion.

"Hey, but Wade...! The enemy is the Fist of the Dragon, you know? We're just ordinary adventurers, and even if we gang up, it's meaningless...!"

The middle-aged adventurer says with a trembling voice. I make a firm declaration.

"The generals are all going to die at our hands."

The guild falls silent in an instant. I add my words.

"I won't push my luck. The Fist of the Dragon are all our prey. Our battle. Your battle is not the same. If it's possible, I want you to protect Karditsa and our hometown with everyone's methods."

The adventurer who spoke to me with tears thinks to himself, "What can I do...?"

I take a deep breath and shout at the top of my lungs.

"―――Listen! This war is a war to protect our hometown! If we lose to the Fist of the Dragon army, our hometown will be lost! Your parents, loved ones, friends, and even children will all suffer miserably!"

My voice echoes, and many people look at me with a dazed expression.

"Enemies might kill us! Enemies might r*pe us! We might be sold as a sl*ve! We might suffer an even worse fate! That's what we have to protect. Only us! Only you!"

The adventurers tremble with fear, and then with anger that surpasses fear.

"Can you forgive this?! Such injustice! Can you forgive it?! The suffering of precious people! If you can't forgive it, then stand up! As adventurers who have lived, you can defeat your enemies under the freedom you've earned!"

 Don't worry! I'll laugh gruesomely.

"All heroes are our prey! We'll hunt them! We'll crush them! You guys just defeat the enemy in front of you! I'll defeat the Fist of the Dragon! That's why, let's continue!"

The fervor begins to fill the air. Before the war, a crazy fervor settles on the adventurers.

 "Shout! Answer my question!"

I, meanwhile, bang my foot on the desk.

 "WHO WILL PROTECT KARDITSA?"

 '...We will.'

A faint voice. I repeat the question.

 "WHO WILL PROTECT FAMILY!!?"

 '...WE WILL...!'

The voices begin to converge. As the voices from around me rise, many begin to shout.

"WHO WILL DEFEAT THE FIST OF THE DRAGON ARMY!?"

 '...WE WILL!!'

The voices converge. I shout at the top of my lungs.

 "WHO WILL WIN?!!"

 '...WE WILL!!'

It's full. I bare my teeth and laugh.

 "―――YOU GUYS! LET'S GO! IT'S WAR!"

 'YEAAAAAHHH!'

Everyone raises their voices, brandishing their weapons. The fervor fills the guild. The rough, boisterous voices of the men blend together, piercing my ears.

I raise my fist high, making sure everyone knows.

"The war will start soon! When that time comes, those who participate will receive a summons! Wait for that time!"

 'YEAAAAAHHH!'

 "That's all! Dismissed!"

The adventurers scatter, grinning bravely. Ah, I'm satisfied. I've finished my job. I'll receive my reward from Nai later.

I sit back down, finally noticing that all the members of the group are staring at me with wide eyes.

 "Uh? What's going on, everyone?"

 "Uh... what... well...?"

Ice turned red as if she were feverish, looking flustered. Toxy blinked rapidly as she looked at me, and Sandra was blushing and muttering "Oh no, oh no, oh no."

In the midst of that, Clay asked,

"Um, Wade, do you have experience in public speaking?"

 "Not at all."

"Ha, haha... if that's the case, then you're a genius. I knew you were a genius, but I didn't think you could give a speech."

Clay said with a wry smile. Frain chuckled and said,

"I'm not surprised at all. No matter what you do, nothing is strange."

His tone was that of someone completely astonished, and we burst out laughing.
