Volume 4 Chapter 25 Recent Situation

 And then, several weeks passed.

Since I became able to use Siddhi (ṛddhi), I had been busy with practical training with Mudi.

"Oi, are you losing focus!? If you do, I'll kill you, you punk!"

"Shut up! Don't think you can just casually rip my arm off like that, you idiot!"

While exchanging insults, I was exchanging punches with Mudi head-on. My attacks didn't affect Mudi, while Mudi's attacks effortlessly tore me apart.

However, my Anahata Chakra denied my injuries. If my arm is severed, it will heal. If my head is cut off, it will return. If my torso is pierced, it will close up.

It's the same even if my actual heart is crushed. The Anahata Chakra is a second heart, not the physical heart. As long as my concentration doesn't break, even if my heart is crushed, the Anahata Chakra won't break.

In other words, I had essentially acquired an ability close to immortality. Yoga is intense, I think these days.

So, why am I training for combat? It seems to be about training to maintain focus no matter what happens.

In essence, it was maintenance training. It was tough to maintain focus for 5 hours on the first day with nothing happening, but now I can maintain it for about ten hours while engaging in combat.

One good thing about the Anahata Chakra is that injuries heal quickly, but another subtle benefit is not knowing fatigue. I can keep fighting indefinitely.

On the other hand, facing Mudi's lightning-fast attacks, I realized that excessively straining my eyes might be one of Mudi's aims.

It's said that there are seven types of Chakras. If one master all seven, they can become a formidable Yogi like Mudi, but I have only mastered one so far.

Perhaps, by continuing to battle with Mudi, I might be able to develop the Chakras around my eyes. With that in mind, I continued my training.

 "Alright! Break!"

 "Phew..."

I released my Anahata Chakra. As a result of exerting intense concentration, my head throbbed painfully. Mudi chuckled at this.

"Darn it... Laughing at someone's misfortune..."

"Don't be ridiculous, punk. Where do you feel the pain? What Chakra resides there?"

 "Huh? Um..."

I recalled the lectures Mudi occasionally gave.

"Is it the Sahasrara Chakra because it's the head?"

"So, feeling pain means you're starting to grasp the sensations in that area?"

 "―――! I see."

"Ha! If you can't realize that on your own, you still have a long way to go, Wade."

 Mudi laughed heartily. I smirked.

"You're so noisy. But, there's no need to say it anymore. I'll figure it out on my own."

"You're in high spirits. Alright, gather with Sandra in half an hour."

 "Got it."

As instructed, I looked around for Sandra.

Sandra was sitting on a rock, in the midst of activation training.

 "'Indra'."

With a whisper, Sandra activated her Chakra. In her lower abdomen, a Chakra in the form of a baby faintly opened its eyes. Then, Sandra immediately deactivated the Chakra.

Seeing Sandra take a long breath and release her fatigue, I spoke up.

 "Sandra, it's break time."

 "Wade. Already?"

"It's more like a short break, maybe? We're supposed to meet up in 30 minutes."

 "Got it. Break time."

I walked over to the rock where Sandra was sitting and sat next to her. She seemed to have gotten used to leaning on me, as she rested her head on my shoulder.

 "Activation training is going well."

"Yeah, I saw. It's starting to activate smoothly."

"Your Siddhi (ṛddhi) training is paying off, you might get certified at the practical level today."

"Sandra's Siddhi (ṛddhi) is handy. I almost want to trade mine for yours."

"Yours is handy too, Wade. It looks painful though."

 "I don't like pain."

We bantered and chuckled together. When Sandra gazed at me intently, I leaned in, thinking she wanted it.

We exchanged a kiss as a sign of affection. Sandra, who now seemed to seek kisses frequently, lightly expressed her desire.

 "I love you."

"Me too. ...I never thought I'd actually end up building a harem."

But still, somewhere deep down, I feel embarrassed, so I end up teasing like that.

Sandra didn't mind and playfully poked my belly with her finger while replying.

"Wade has had a harem vibe since we first met. Everyone's attention at the party was on Wade."

"Speaking of which, Clay seems to have his eyes on me too."

"That's not entirely wrong. Clay definitely likes Wade the most at the party."

"When you put it that way, well... no, we're definitely best friends though."

 "Don't worry. I'll protect Wade's ass."

 "Sandra, you'll get scolded."

 "Silence is golden."

Shushing with a finger to her lips, Sandra made a quiet gesture. Then, she brought up something.

"Thinking about Clay reminded me. Toxy and Clay haven't been back recently."

"I did get a message from them, but I wonder what they're up to, both of them."

It had been a few weeks since they returned. I remembered Toxy playing happily with Moruru. Clay had been "almost pickled" and spent the whole day managing finances.

I recall asking about their training, and both of them seemed evasive with their words. But they assured there were no issues. Saying so, they behaved confidently with their prosthetic limbs, trying to show their vitality.

Since then, we haven't seen them around.

 "I'm worried."

"...Yeah. They didn't seem to be pushing themselves too hard, but Ice's words were concerning."

As long as they seemed happy, I thought it was pointless for us to worry.

Whether she sensed my somber mood or not, Sandra changed the subject to Ice.

"Ice is apparently doing a quest to earn the Gold Sword adventurer badge."

"...Really? Is that so? Ice is amazing."

I felt a bit awestruck. I always pictured Ice discussing complex topics with Alex at home while we were training.

So, it felt sudden. How did she manage to take on a Gold adventurer quest without going out much?

 "Wait, a sword?"

"Yes, a sword. She's hunting down a large group of mountain bandits near Karditsa on the brink of war related to Fist of the Dragon."

Sandra explained that the current quest involved facing a few hundred bandits.

I glanced at the house. Through the window, I could see Ice and Alex engaged in conversation.

"...Ice stays home all the time, huh?"

 "Yeah."

"What are those two really up to?"

I tilted my head. Sandra tilted her head in agreement. While Clay and Toxy were a mystery, Ice was also shrouded in mystery.

 Speaking of mysteries...

"Sandra, why are you called 'Indra' instead of 'Brahma'?"

 "Huh?"

Sandra looked up at me, her side-tailed blonde hair flowing.

"Remember the activation phrase. 'If you don't have any attachment, go with 'Brahma',' Mudi said."

When I asked if she had any attachment to it, Sandra tried to remember by looking up.

"There was a family friend who seemed to use similar magic as Mudi. They said, 'Sandra is a good name. You must be under the protection of the God of War.'"

"Oh, so that's why you chose 'Indra'."

"Yeah. I thought the names sounded alike."

After a moment of thought, I asked Sandra,

"Was it more of a pun than about that person?"

 "Exactly."

 Wow~ Sandra's consistency was impressive~.

As we chatted, time flew by. Before we knew it, it was almost time Mudi had set, so I took Sandra's hand and headed to the backyard square.
