Volume 2 Chapter 3-2 The Former Mean Villainess Gets Married

If it were just that the two of us were compatible, I would happily accept it, but the Earth God, huh.

I previously told the Earth God to "leave us alone," but I wonder if that was okay.

Well, according to the fortune-telling results, it seems the Earth God is feeling quite cheerful.

Is it really the time to be cheerful?

 "Lady, are you alright?"

 "Hmm?"

"You've suddenly become quiet. Are you feeling unwell?"

"Not at all. I was just thinking about what to pray for at the temple. First, I'll pray for Rolus to call me Elena."

 "Huh?"

"Huh, wait. Are you planning to call me 'Lady' forever? You said you would call me that once we were officially married! Besides, I won't be 'Lady' for much longer, you know!?"

 "...I will do my best."

 Do your best right now.

As we exchanged such conversation, the carriage came to a stop.

It seems we have arrived at the temple.

The temple is a stone building with a shining spire rising in the center.

That shining part seems to be made of crystal.

Upon entering, the light passing through the crystal sparkled in 7 colors, and it was very beautiful.

If this were an RPG world, it would heal any status ailment.

While thinking such silly things, we stood side by side in front of the altar deep within the temple.

We bowed our heads once, closed our eyes, and clasped our hands.

Though we didn't exchange vows or a kiss, by offering this prayer, the wedding ceremony is complete.

Even though I thought it might be strange to pray to the Earth God for our happiness after telling them to leave us alone, I didn't feel any complaints in the atmosphere, so it should be fine.

When I suddenly opened my eyes and looked at Rolus, it seemed he was still in the middle of his prayer.

I wonder what he's praying for so long.

I thought while admiring Rolus's long eyelashes.

 "...Thank you for waiting."

 "No problem."

We bowed our heads once more towards the altar before leaving the place.

With this, we had officially become a married couple.

"Oh, Rolus, let's do this before we head back."

This, this, I pointed to a little fortune-telling activity.

It was something like writing a wish on paper and floating it in water; if it dissolves quickly, the wish will come true, similar to something found at a shrine in Japan.

The vessel holding the water was crafted from an enormous cut of iolite.

This surely doesn't exist in Japan.

"Let's make the same wish together."

"The same wish, you say? Then... is it alright if we wish for our eternal happiness?"

"Sounds good. I'll write it down. Um, let's see, may our souls be eternally happy."

 "Souls."

"Oh, I almost slipped up. If I write 'souls,' it might mean we'll be together not just in this life but in the next as well."

 Should I rewrite it?

Before I could ask, Rolus had already written my name on the paper.

If Rolus is fine with it as is, I wrote my name too, and we both stood ready above the water.

"On the count of 3, we'll let it float."

 "Okay."

 "1, 2, 3."

 We let it float.

The moment I thought that, the paper had already dissolved and vanished.

It was so fast, it felt like it had been dipped in acid.

 I was shocked.

 "It dissolves that quickly, huh?"

 "That was surprising."

 "Is it usually like this?"

"I thought there would be more left since there's a tool to scoop up the remnants..."

 "...there's not a trace left."

The fact that it dissolved so instantly likely means our wish will come true.

As long as it leads to happiness, I'm fine with anything.

"With this, we shall be eternally happy."

I looked up at Rolus, who said that, and was about to nod in agreement, but I accidentally stumbled over my words.

Because Rolus was smiling so happily.

This usually taciturn man, who rarely showed emotion, was smiling with such joy.

 "Lady? ...Ah, um, Elena?"

 "No need for 'Lady.'"

 "...Elena."

"Thank you, I'm so happy I might faint."

 "Huh?"

I was on the verge of fainting, and it was no joke.

 All because of Rolus's smile.

 This is dangerous.

 A smile bomb, indeed.

 So risky.

"It's about time we should prepare for the party, shall we head back?"

 "Yes."

Just as I was about to walk, Rolus offered his arm, and I unhesitatingly intertwined my arm with his.
