Volume 2 Chapter 11-2 Stone Diviner Apprentice, Goes Out to the Town
"Is that so...?"
I tilted my head in confusion, but Rolus nodded earnestly.
"I'm worried you might get caught up with troublesome people."
He said that in a voice that sounded incredibly exasperated.
"I'll make sure troublesome people don't get close to Elena."
Suddenly, Rolus said that.
"Ah, please do. Rolus is reliable, especially when it comes to Elena."
I wondered about that, and as I tilted my head, the teacher chuckled softly.
"Elena might not know, but when strange people try to approach her, Rolus glares at them with an intense look."
"Huh?"
Seriously?
I thought, glancing at Rolus, who was sipping tea with a completely indifferent expression.
"Didn't the flower divination teacher say something to you in the past?"
Speaking of the flower divination teacher, was it the one who exploded the seeds and declared it 'interesting'?
"Maybe they did."
"I think they did. That teacher mentioned that they might never let Elena near again."
"Rolus, do you remember?"
"Yes. When Lady Natalia read Elena's fortune, the flower seeds exploded, and the teacher, upon learning that, went out of their way to read the fortune and make the seeds explode, saying it was 'interesting to see.' I judged that it was harmful to Elena and unnecessary for her future."
I remember it vividly and was extremely angry about it.
"I see, I see."
"That's the kind of thing, Elena."
There was no room for rebuttal.
I had completely forgotten, and I probably only got angry for a moment when it was amusing.
Now, I couldn't even tell if I was angry or not.
I must have been annoyed, though.
"...Speaking of which, I've never seen Rolus glare at anyone. He laughs a lot these days, but back then, his facial muscles didn't seem to function at all."
Let's change the subject.
"He always sent a scrutinizing gaze towards anyone trying to get close to Elena."
"Really?"
"Who knows?"
A casual reply came without hesitation.
"You were scrutinized too."
"Oh really?"
The teacher too, huh.
"And I was forgiven."
That's good to hear.
"I had no idea at all."
"Well, Rolus was usually standing behind Elena. But I'm happy that such a protective Attendant like Rolus could marry Elena."
As I wondered why the teacher was so happy, I glanced at Rolus's expression, and after a moment of confusion, his face turned red.
"Uh, happy...?"
At Rolus's murmur, the teacher nodded deeply.
"I was worried that if Elena married another man and they were separated, Rolus would die. So, I'm happy. It's like a parent's heart."
The teacher I saw back in school rarely showed emotion and had a strong impression of being strict, but perhaps that was also due to a parent's love.
Now that we were no longer in a teacher-student relationship, he was just a kind father figure thinking of his graduate.
If that's the case, Mister Eliseo is such a great person.
As expected of Lady Ruby's descendant-dearu.
"A parent's heart... But teacher, you're not married, right?"
The expression that was supposed to be gently smiling vanished from the teacher's face.
His facial muscles had given up working more than Rolus's in the past.
"I'm not. It's not that I can't, I just haven't."
No way, could it be that the teacher is a man who can't get married...!?
"But teacher, you're popular, right?"
You're a good-looking guy with a nice voice and face!?
Plus, you're a teacher, so there's no way you wouldn't be popular!?
"Not popular."
No way!
I thought about checking with my stone divination, but I didn't bring any stones today.
"Do you have a desire to get married?"
"It's not that I don't, but... I haven't."
The teacher's face started to look a little sad.
Oh no, how pitiful.
"...Um, teacher, if you don't mind, would you like to come to my mansion next time? If you don't dislike it, would you like to try some stone divination?"
"...Sure."
There was a long pause before I got a response.
It must be a dilemma whether to do the divination or not.
It seems he doesn't have a lack of desire for marriage, but if the result of the divination is "can't get married," that would be a downer.
So, we decided to coordinate our schedules and later do a divination on the teacher's fate.
