Volume 2 Chapter 50 To the Land of Fairies
We arrived at one of our allied nations, inside the Anemosgive Forest.
It is said that deep within this forest lies the [entrance] to the world where the fairies reside.
"Why did Cino come along?"
My little sister Cino puffed her chest and spoke proudly.
"Big brother, I heard you told the Fire Dragon that you wanted to go out with me."
"No, I said with everyone."
"Including me, right? Everyone... Hehe♡ Going out with big brother♡"
Cino clung to my arm with a tight squeeze.
It's not really a leisure trip, but oh well.
With the fairy prince Reiss and the guide elf, we headed deeper into the forest.
"By the way, Cino, do you know why I'm going there?"
"Of course. You're going to calm the sealed [Kirin], right?"
"Yep. So, Cino, what kind of Divine Beast is the Kirin?"
"It's one of the Divine Beasts. It's said to be a mythical creature that brings rain and natural blessings to the world. Though it's also said to be the incarnation of thunder, it's known for its gentle nature and is said to never crush even an insect."
Huh, that sounds quite different from what I imagined.
"Reiss, the Kirin is causing chaos, right?"
'Yes, it constantly generates thunder around it and tries to incinerate anything that comes close. Also, because of the rampaging Kirin, heavy rains pour down year-round, and everyone is struggling.'
"Maybe the Kirin has its own reasons. Like injuries or illness."
It's said to currently be trapped in a barrier set up by the fairies.
"Are you still going on a dangerous mission, big brother?"
"Of course, it might be injured, right? Then it's a doctor's job, isn't it?"
"Hehe, big brother, you're still as admirable as ever. I respect you, always♡"
As we continued through the forest, the greenery grew denser.
"Ugh...! Ugh...!"
Cino crouched down, looking in pain.
"What's wrong?"
"No... it's just... the magic density is... too high..."
Magic essence refers to the elemental source of magical power.
Normally, those floating in the air don't harm the body.
But high concentrations of magic essence are said to affect the human body.
'Why is Sir Zeke safe?'
Reiss said, eyes wide.
"Perhaps, my brother has a far greater capacity to absorb magical essence than an ordinary person. As expected of you, brother... ugh..."
I tried to create a spherical barrier centered around Cino with Hand of God.
Then, her complexion gradually improved.
"I feel so much better. Your barrier blocks everything. It specifically prevents the intrusion of magical essence. Divine work, as expected of you, brother."
If everything is blocked, light and oxygen won't reach us, which is dangerous.
'Amazing... I've never seen a mere human survive in this forest rich in magical essence.'
"What do you do when guests come?"
'The fairy realm does not permit human entry. Ordinary people cannot withstand the high concentration of magical essence here and must turn back.'
We advanced deeper with Rays.
The concentration of magical essence grew thicker.
Rainbow-like particles mixed in the air.
"Incredible... even in such a high concentration of magical essence that is visible, you are still fine, brother."

"By the way, are we almost there?"
'We will soon see the Fairy Ring. Once we pass through there, we will arrive.'
"Fairy Ring?"
According to Rays, it is like a warp gate to enter the fairy realm.
"It is the only entrance and exit to the fairy realm."
"Isn't it bad if we break it carelessly?"
"Haha! It's fine. The Fairy Ring is a robust magic tool created by the fairies' technology during the mythological era. It will never break."
Well, it's the only route we can use.
It would be bad if it broke.
As we walked like that... eventually, we reached the Fairy Ring.
'What!? No way! It's broken!?'
There was a place like a ruin, with remnants of white bricks.
It seems this was the Fairy Ring.
'No way... to think it would break... it's over, we can never return to our homeland...'
'Well, it can't be helped! Demon Lord, let's go home!'
I slapped the carefree fairy Lilinne on the head and moved forward.
'Demon Lord... what exactly are you doing?'
"Fixing it."
'W-What a reckless idea... That magic tool was made in the age of myths. There's no fairy alive who knows how to create or restore it.'
Using the Hand of God, I began the restoration.
Like restoring damaged cells, I reconstructed the shattered fairy ring back to its original form.
'Wha-!? What the heck!? It's restored!?'
Ignoring the astonished Reiss, Lilinne dropped her shoulders dramatically, muttering, 'Wow... so disappointing.'
"Is this acceptable now?"
'Y-Yes, Sir Zeke!'
With a firm grip, Reiss clutched my fingers and bowed his head repeatedly.
'Thank you so much! Thanks to you, I can return to my homeland again!'
"I'm glad to hear that. But... who broke it?"
'I don't know. At the very least, it shouldn't have been a fairy.'
Well, no one would destroy the path leading to their own homeland, after all.
"This... doesn't seem like it's just a problem with the kirin, does it?"
In any case, I stepped through the fairy ring, heading toward their homeland.
