Volume 1 Chapter 50 The Demon Lord's Daughter, A New Invitation
A report came in that civilians were being attacked by Demonkin, from a fire dragon (recently evolved from a wyvern).
When I rushed to the scene, there was a Demonkin with a jellyfish-like head.
It had wrapped its tentacles around a civilian, who was completely covered by a hooded cloak.
I destroyed the tentacles with my ice sword and saved the child.
"Are you okay?"
"Y...yes... Who are you...?"
"I'm Zeke. A beast veterinarian."
"! Then, you must be... that person...?"
I picked the child up and leaped away from the spot.
"Hmm, you're quite skilled~"
"Who the hell are you?"
"I am [Poison Jellyfish], a Marquis-class Demonkin. I've come to kill that [daughter]."
The jellyfish-headed, muscular humanoid said.
"What has this kid done to you?"
"Nothing in particular. Well, if I had to say, it's because her existence is a problem for [my master]."
I didn't fully understand the situation, but I could clearly see that this jellyfish Demonkin treated others' lives like snacks.
"I'm warning you. Leave now."
"Hah! A weak human (monkey) like you giving orders to a Demonkin? You're a thousand years too early! Die!"
Whoosh!
Poison Jellyfish shot its tentacles toward me.
They were surprisingly fast, binding my arms and legs.
Sizzle... The sound of my skin burning echoed.
"Bwahaha! Those tentacles secrete an instant-acting poison! Your body will melt away in seconds!"
"Well, it's not working on me."
"What!? What the hell!?"
Perfect Healer grants me holy magic that completely nullifies status ailments.
"Amazing...! Just as the rumors say, you're incredible...!"
The girl was looking at me in awe.
...But something doesn't add up.
She should've been hit by the tentacles too, yet there's no sign of the poison affecting her.
"Tch! Damn it! Take this!"
Poison Jellyfish bent its body back and spewed out a massive cloud of black smoke.
With my Eye of God, I could tell it wasn't poison.
And then...
"Bwahaha! Die!"
The Poison Jellyfish opened its mouth wide, about to clack its teeth.
"Too slow."
I closed in at high speed and thrust my ice sword into its mouth.
"Planning to use a flammable gas explosion attack, huh?"
"Wha!? How did you know!?"
Its voice sounded muffled since I'd shoved something into its mouth.
"I analyzed the gas composition with my Eye of God. Predicted your next move from there."
"A-Amazing! Your combat sense is like a seasoned warrior's!"
I froze the Poison Jellyfish and shattered it into pieces.
"Phew... You okay?"
"Yes! Thank you for saving me♡"
She stepped closer and bowed her head.
"Excuse me."
I took her hand and noticed burn marks on her arm.
"Is it from that jellyfish's poison?"
"Ah, yes, but I'm fine."
"Fine, my foot. Hold on, I'll heal it for you."
The girl shook her head in a panic.
"N-no! It's really okay!"
"Relax. I know you're a Demonkin."
The girl flinched and shrunk back.
It was strange──she'd survived an instant-death poison.
Using my Eye of God, I discovered she was a Demonkin (her coat was a magic item that masked her identity, making her appear human).
"Even if you're a Demonkin, I'm not gonna harm an innocent girl or child."
I used my evolved Hand of God to heal the Demonkin girl's burns.
"Incredible... The burns are gone instantly. Healing magic works on a Demonkin... This is unheard of."
She murmured in awe.
"Good. Take care of that pretty skin of yours."
"! ...Th-that's the first time anyone's said that to me."
She fidgeted shyly.
"Now then. Mind telling me why a Demonkin like you was being attacked by other Demonkin?"
The girl nodded and pulled back the hood of her coat.
Her pure white hair and stunning figure were draped in a midnight-colored dress.
She holds the edge of her skirt and bows deeply.
"My name is Elaina. I am the daughter of the current Demon Lord."
"Huh...huh?! Daughter of the Demon Lord?!"
Elaina smiles elegantly and nods.
"Wh-why are you here...?"
"I have come to you to ask a favor of you, in place of my sick father."
Sick?
Is the Demon Lord sick...?
"Sir Zeke, please come to the country where my Demon Lord rules as a doctor."
