Volume 3 Chapter 9 The Work Of God

Volume 3 Chapter 9 The Work Of God

"Well, let's grab something to eat first."

 It was dusk.

Having safely arrived home, we decided to have dinner before our discussion, as it was getting late.

Since we were all together, we thought it would be nice to eat as a group.

In the end, Rose and Cosmos decided to stay over, so while they went to grab their things from the guest room, I began preparing dinner.

 "I-I'll help too!"

Thanks to Fran's offer, we managed to get everything ready before they returned.

Unlike me, Fran seemed quite skilled at various things.

He had hobbies like sewing and crafting, which helped him cook reasonably well.

He didn't exhibit the typical clumsiness you might expect from a guy.

I was good at cooking too, but a bit clumsy with my hands.

After all, he was a blacksmith.

Before long, Rose and Cosmos came back, and we all sat down to have dinner together.

"Alright, let's talk about what's next."

After finishing the cleanup, we decided to have our discussion.

The topic was about what we should do moving forward.

We needed to figure out the specific actions to take in order to win against Brue at the auction.

Just then, Fran hesitantly raised his hand.

"Um, I think it's good to have a discussion, but there's something I'd like to know first."

 "Something you want to know?"

"Well... you mentioned that I have a 'talent for blacksmithing,' right?"

Fran asked with a worried expression.

I recalled my earlier words and realized I had mixed up the order of our conversation.

"Now that you mention it, I did say we'd talk about it in detail later. So, let's start with that."

Actually, it would be quicker to address that first.

So, I decided to explain Fran's talent.

I picked up one of Fran's belongings that was nearby—his "worn-out sword" that he had forged.

Holding it up for everyone to see, Fran shyly lowered his gaze.

He seemed embarrassed to have everyone looking at the sword he had made, feeling a bit inadequate about it.

"Just to confirm, this is really the sword that Fran forged, right?"

 "Uh, yeah. That's right."

"Did you really make it all by yourself, from scratch?"

Just to confirm, I asked, and Fran nodded firmly.

"I made this sword from scratch. I didn't get help from anyone, and I gathered all the materials myself. Even though my dad taught me a lot, I can only make a sword like this..."

 Fran's voice gradually trailed off.

With each word, it seemed like his confidence was fading, and by the end, he fell silent.

I didn't want to bring him down, so I tried to comfort him.

"Sure, this sword isn't exactly impressive. No matter how you look at it, it looks like something a blacksmith apprentice messed up."

 "..."

Seeing Fran's shoulders droop even more, I shook my head and said.

"But in my eyes, I see real potential. The possibility that Fran has more blacksmith talent than anyone else."

"I-I can't see that at all. I can only think that Roezé is just trying to comfort me. What do you even see, Roezé...?"

With his light brown, round eyes glistening and a sad expression on his face, I conveyed my thoughts in one sentence.

"This sword... it holds 'Divine Revelation.'"

 "...Huh?"

Fran seemed to freeze, unable to understand the meaning of my words, his mouth slightly open.

Rose and Cosmos were also at a loss for words.

It was impossible to fully grasp what I meant with just that one statement.

Even if I explained in detail, it wouldn't be something they could easily accept.

Fran's sword had qualities that were beyond common sense; it was made of "unknown material.".

So, I continued, trying to answer everyone's questions as clearly as possible.

"Just like humans are born with a 'job class' from the gods, the sword Fran made has levels and skills attached to it. You might not see it at first glance, but this is what I see."

I picked up a piece of paper and a pen from the table and quickly started writing.

Once I finished, I slid the paper to the center of the table, and the three of them leaned in to take a look.

 [Name] A Delicate Blade

 Level: 1.

 Attack Power: 10.

 Skill:.

 Durability: 50/50.

Everyone looked at it with curious expressions.

After exchanging glances, Rose was the first to voice her question.

"Wow, this looks a lot like the Divine Revelation we have. Does this sword that Fran made have the Divine Revelation in it?"

"That's right. When I use my Divine Eye skill to look at this sword, this information appears near it. Normally, just looking at a weapon only tells you what materials were used."

"Wow," Rose said, sounding impressed. Meanwhile, Cosmos frowned suspiciously, tapping the paper with her finger.

"Are you really saying that this sword has a Divine Revelation like a human? You're not just making this up, are you?"

"Of course not. If I were making up a story to comfort Fran, I wouldn't go that far with the details."

 "...Well, that's true."

 Cosmos nodded, seeming convinced.

Then she picked up the paper with the Divine Revelation and waved it around.

"But if this is true, what does it mean for a weapon to have a Divine Revelation? How is it different from a regular weapon?"

"I wondered about that too. So this is just my guess, but I think if this sword defeats monsters like we do, it might level up and become 'stronger' too."

 "...?"

When I shared my thoughts, everyone looked puzzled.

So, I asked Cosmos to give me back the paper and pointed to what was written on it as I explained.

"The 'Attack Power' mentioned in the Divine Revelation seems to be a combination of the weapon's sharpness, hardness, and weight. And it increases with levels. I couldn't figure out how to level up with my Divine Eye skill, but I think it's probably similar to how human Divine Revelations work."

"It seems that by defeating monsters and acquiring divine growth points, the level of the weapon will also increase. The reason I said I saw 'potential' in Fran's sword is because of this. Fran's sword is not yet complete. This current state, which is still somewhat dull, is akin to an immature state in terms of job classes.

If it defeat monsters and obtain divine growth points, it will continue to grow. Not only will its performance as a weapon improve, but it's likely that skills effective against monsters will also awaken. This is a supernatural power granted only to Fran's weapon, something that no other weapon possesses. The weapons and armor he crafts can uniquely be strengthened through monster hunting in this world."

"W-What? My sword has such power...?"

At this realization, Fran trembled and let out a shaky voice.

"That's why I told you. Fran has a talent for blacksmithing that could be called 'divine power.' I don't know exactly how strong the weapons Fran crafts will become, but I believe they will definitely be better than they are now... so please don't give up."

 "..."

After conveying what I wanted to say, Fran placed a hand on the sword resting on the table and gently stroked the blade.

Then, a quiet smile spread across his face, as if to express his happiness.

The weapons crafted by Fran need to be gradually strengthened from level one.

So, it's understandable that all the weapons he has made until now appeared dull.

He seems to lack the means to confirm the weapon's Divine Revelation, so it's no wonder he couldn't realize his own potential.

The sword he sold to the weapon shop also had Divine Revelation inscribed on it, but he mentioned that he let it go for a low price.

If he had properly forged the sword, it might have transformed into something extraordinary.

"But, why does the sword I made have something like Divine Revelation? I don't remember doing anything special..."

"I didn't understand that either, so I apologize, but I used the Divine Eye skill to check on Fran. As I suspected, it turned out that your 'job class' is related to it."

 "Job class?"

At that, Fran suddenly gasped in realization.

Perhaps he had an idea, as he quickly opened his small hand and began to chant.

 "[Show Divine Revelation]."

As a piece of paper appeared in Fran's hand, he spread it out on the table for us to see.

 [Job Class] Artifact Craftsman

 [Magic]

 [Divine Blessing]

 - Strength: F100.

 - Agility: F75.

 - Resilience: F75.
