Volume 19 Chapter 7 Assault
The released blue-white arrows flew straight toward them.
One hit Prince Theodore, and one hit Serena, but those 2 were deflected by the light shaped like a hexagonal shield.
This was the effect of the Quick Shield spell that Al used.
And the last arrow hit Al in the chest.
"!"
He felt a shock he had never experienced before, and he let out a soundless groan.
When Al looked at his chest, a blue-white arrow was stuck in his black shining chest armor.
The chest armor was made from the skin of a giant alligator lizard, and thankfully, the blue-white arrow did not go through the armor.
The blue-white arrow turned to sand and flowed away, leaving only a small hole mark in the armor.
He reluctantly made the leather armor at Orson's recommendation, but it seems to have performed admirably.
'Ally? Are you okay?'
Glee asked in a worried voice.
"Yeah, it was stopped by the armor. It has a long effective range, but its power seems to be about the same as a 'Magic Missile'."
When Al casts the spell 'Magic Missile', he adds the option Focused Power to increase the distance.
Then, only one arrow will be shot, and the distance will be increased accordingly.
But there were 3 arrow-like things that came flying.
That means it's not an option, but rather there may already be a spell with a long effective range.
Al was a little excited.
'Hey? Maybe the next one will come'
Glee warned in a way that asked what was happening.
This was not a fun situation.
Indeed, from far away, they could only be shot at.
'Shield'──Serena, Myself.
There is a limit to how many attacks the shield spell can block.
Who will be targeted next?
With that kind of power, Prince Theodore in metal armor should be fine.

While saying this, Prince Theodore took the reins from behind his own carriage and jumped on his horse.
It was a big white war horse.
The horse seemed used to Prince Theodore, so it must be his mount.
Serena, on the other hand, was told by Audrey to hide, and she was hurriedly trying to go back into the carriage.
A pale arrow-like object flew again.
The targets were Prince Theodore, Serena, and Al, just like last time.
Why are they targeting them?

The remaining number of shield spell effects is now 0 for Prince Theodore, 5 for Serena, and 3 for Al himself.

Prince Theodore wore a helmet, lowered his face, and pointed to the direction in which Melvin from the magic team flew.
'Anti-Magic Field'
Prince Theodore cast a spell.
This is a legendary spell known only to the royal family of the Sylvester Kingdom.
A yellow, shining, transparent light spread from Prince Theodore, reaching about 3 meters around him before disappearing.
Prince Theodore seemed to be a knight who could use spells, even if he was a bit different from what Naresh was looking for.
By chance, Al, who was in the 3-meter magic area, saw the window of the 'Floating Eye' spell disappear from his view.
So, if he was using that spell, it means he wouldn't be afraid of being attacked by magic.
But, as a magician, he couldn't do anything if he was next to it.
"Only 3 knights follow me. The rest stay here to guard."
Prince Theodore said this and pulled the reins, gently patting the horse's belly with his foot.
The horse, as if understanding his intention, started to run toward the men who attacked them with magic.
Of the members of the kingdom's second knight corp, 3 knights on horses followed Prince Theodore, while the others spread out to protect the carriage Serena was riding in.
Gustave worked together with the remaining knights while talking to them.
As Prince Theodore left, Al saw the window projected by the 'Floating Eye' spell again.
'What happened? It went dark for a second...huh? Time moved suddenly?'
In the Anti-Magic Field spell area, Glee's assistant device seemed to have temporarily stopped working.
When they got outside of the area, it felt like time suddenly jumped ahead.
"It's the royal family's Anti-Magic Field spell. It seems okay to leave Prince Theodore over there. Since I got instructions from the prince, I'm going to help His Excellency Baron Melvin."
──I hope I make it in time.
Al started to run hard to catch up with the back of the line.
It was a terrible scene back there.
The back half of the supply team and the second team of the Margrave Rain knights were badly hurt. Injured people were lying on the ground, and food, tents, and packages meant for the Marquis Tagard family were scattered everywhere.

'Magic Missile'
Just when Al caught up, 6 magicians from the magic team, including Melvin, had surrounded a magician who was floating in the air and had just fired 'Magic Tornado'.
More than ten glowing arrows flew toward one magician.
But most of them were blocked by the 'Shield' spell, and the rest were stopped by the armor the magician was wearing.
'Dispel Magic'

Melvin and the other 6 lost their balance in the air after the 'Fly' spell was 'Dispel Magic'd, and began to fall.
The distance to the ground is probably about 10 meters.
'Falling Control'
Al immediately uses Falling Control.
Melvin and the others' fall suddenly slows, and they land softly and safely.
But they looked around, confused as to what had happened.
"Damn you, you blond brat. Get in the way."
The magician shot a 'Magic Tornado' towards Al, reaching out his hand.
A 'Quick Magic Missile' appeared.
A 'Quick Shield' was ready.
In response, Al cast the Quick Shield spell.
A bright hexagonal shield showed up for a moment on his body and then disappeared.
Immediately, 2 blue-white arrows of the 'Quick Magic Missile' flew at him, but the light in the shape of a hexagonal shield blocked them.
'The other one in the back ran away. Wow, that's Veil.'
Glee whispered in Al's ear.
The "other one" was probably the second person who had come from behind during the attack.
Looking over quickly, he saw a man in a black robe flying away in the distance.
Veil?
Lord Veil, huh?
Before, he had called himself a powerful magician who led the magicians of the Marquis Prentis family when he was escaping with Patricia.
Did he join in this attack?
"The enemy magician is 'Veil' with the 'Piercing Spear.'"
He was just barely within reach of Lord Veil.
To stop him from escaping, Al casts the spell 'Piercing Spear' on both the magician who cast the 'Magic Tornado' and Lord Veil.
It's not a 'Magic Missile' because the magician who shot the 'Magic Tornado' in front of him looked to be wearing very thick armor.
Now, Four javelin-like pale lights, much larger than the Magic Missile, shot out from Al's palm.
The magician who had fired the Magic Tornado, was first pierced by 2 of the spears of pale blue light.
"Ugh..."
The magician who had fired the Magic Tornado in front of him was blown away by the impact of the Piercing Spear and fell face up.
But the two attacks aimed at Lord Veil were blocked by a shining, 6-sided shield.
He must have used a shield spell ahead of time.
Lord Veil then flew higher and escaped from the spot.
Should he chase him?
No, that feels too dangerous.
Besides, there could be more attackers around.
Al took a moment to catch his breath and look around.
