Chapter 85 Lyam Neshana's Ability

Chapter 85 Lyam Neshana's Ability

"Sister, I'm glad you're not hurt. But don't push yourself too hard, okay?"

"Hmm, that's weird. I thought I was supposed to nail it back there."

"Ah, I see. Lyam is a user of yellow magic. She's quick at drawing the catalyst circle, so she's definitely a skilled magic user."

"Thinkin' Sham's gonna steal the show from ya, Quollio, huh? Gettin' all worked up?"

"No way, Hiiro. Aren't you the one who's worried about being overshadowed by Sham?"

 "How did you know?"

 (You didn't, you didn't.)

I got a little startled when Quollio hit the nail on the head.

But it's fine; something like this won't make my presence disappear.

Still, I can't just sit back and watch. For many reasons.

 So, here we go!

"Shut up if ya can't back it up! Alright, kitty sisters, let's take down them monsters! Watch my six!"

 "Y-yes!"

"Hey, why are you taking charge?!"

 "Cause I'm Hiiro, that's why!"

 "What?!"

I can't let myself fall behind the Neshana sisters.

But I can't just stop and let my teammates shine while I stand still; that's not how a hero acts.

To show my worth, I charged to the front lines with Ruthless in hand.

* * *

 "Get outta here!!"

 [gobuuuu!!]

I felt a bit of danger with the new character showing up, but my martial arts skills were really good.

I guess this is thanks to my training with Quollio. It feels great to see the results of my hard work, even with the beasts' dying screams in the background.

"Wow, Hiiro, you're better than I thought!"

 "Huh? Hiiro?"

"Cool nickname. You can call me Sham, okay? Hiiro!"

"Nah, kitty girl, not gonna happen."

I guess she was impressed by my charge. While swinging a heavy ball, Sham smiled at me.

I want to get along, but Hiiro feels a bit too much like a heroine for me.

 [geeeeiiiii!!!!]

 "!"

Thinking during a fight is a big no-no. Just as I was distracted, a beast that looked like a fishman (sahagin) crept up with a spear.

 "'Bloom, bloom, stretch far'──'Gnome's Nose'."

 [gi!?]

But before the spear could reach me, it got stuck in a tall stone that shot up from the ground.

"This is... Lyam's yellow magic, ain't it?"

"S-sorry, Mr. Hiiro! I just chanted it without thinking... Did I get you caught up in it?"

"Whaddya mean? Like you can see for yourself, I'm good."

 "R-really? That's good to hear."

Just as I expected, it was Lyam who helped me with her low-level yellow magic.

But the way she kept bowing her head, worried she might have messed up, made me think she might not have much experience in group battles.

"'Strike, strike, core of the thunder drum. Bloom, bloom, green thunder flower'──'Heyoka's Thunder Summon'!"

 "Huh? ...Whoa!?"

 [woloff!?]

While I was thinking about how cautious Lyam was, a snap of fingers echoed from somewhere, and green lightning struck. Not me, but the wolf beast.

Of course, it didn't happen by chance. The sky was clear. So, this sudden lightning was also due to magic.

And when it comes to green magic, the culprit was obvious.

"Don't worry about it, Lyam. That guy is tough as nails, so he'll be fine even if he gets caught in it."

 "N-no way, that's a bit much..."

"Hey, Quollio! At least give a shout-out!"

"It's your fault for looking away during a fight, Hiiro."

Sure, that's true. But I know Lyam was just trying to make sure she could fight without holding back.

If that's the case, then she should be nice to me too.

Just casually showing off new magic like that. Damn it.

"Wow, green Intermediate-level Magic. You're pretty good too, Quollio..."

"Hah. Just talking big won't make you my master."

"What?! Just so you know, my real skills are way better than this!"

 "...What did you say?"

And now, something unexpected is heating up again.

"Lyam! Let's do that thing, that thing!"

 "Eh! B-but sister, everyone is..."

 "It's fine, it's fine!"

What's this? It looks like they're really going to show off something special.

Lyam didn't want to do what his sister asked, but after a sigh that sounded like he gave up, he walked over to the river where the Sahagin were gathered.

"Freeze, freeze, in silver. Let it freeze, stay in this moment."

 "What!? That spell is...!"

 (⋯⋯, ⋯⋯Huh?)

 (...What? ...Wow.)

It must be a catalyst. As she chanted, Lyam gently kissed the blue paper she took out.

I didn't know what kind of magic that was. I also didn't know what would happen when Lyam finished his chant.

But I think my surprise was the same as Quollio's.

Because the color of the magic Lyam was gathering was... not yellow, but blue.

"Here we go, sister──'Whispers of the Wendigo'."

Then, when Lyam dipped the blue paper into the river... the moment it touched, part of the water's surface froze instantly.

"Leave it to me!! Here we go!!"

As the ice prison created by his sister formed, Syam jumped high.

 "Icicle, BREAK!!!"

She brought down a literal hammer on the beasts whose feet were frozen and couldn't move.
