Chapter 68 Eshurareze Midgard
Eshurareze Midgard didn't have any memories until she was ten years old.
When she became aware of her surroundings, she was called Eshurareze and found out she was an orphan taken in by the Midgard Orphanage.
She didn't know anything about her parents. But she didn't really want to know either. All the other kids in the orphanage were orphans too.
So, the head of the orphanage, Sati, was like a mom to everyone.
Shura had always been strong. She never lost in strength competitions with the boys her age. So, it was her job to take the herbs grown by Sati at the orphanage, grind them into powder, and carry them to the next town in a rickshaw.
Even when Sati told her it wasn't a job for girls, Shura wouldn't back down. Unlike Yuo, who was good at cooking, and Mimi, who was great at sewing, Shura was clumsy and couldn't do those things.
But she wanted to help the orphanage with its funds. So, carrying the herbs was perfect for her.
Maybe she was chosen for her talent. When she picked up a sword, she quickly got the hang of it and learned the techniques fast. In the strength competition held in the next town, Shura was so strong that even adults couldn't beat her.
When she used the prize money to buy food and shared it with everyone at the orphanage, she felt a sense of accomplishment. But Sati worried and asked if she was hurt, scolding her not to do dangerous things.
At the moment, Shura suddenly realized something crucial. She felt cared for, which was why Sati and everyone at the orphanage meant so much to her.
They were irreplaceable.

After finishing her usual delivery job and returning to the orphanage, she saw a nightmare.
'E... shura... reze...'
Mimi, who was good at sewing and had given her a ribbon, had her arm turned into a toy for a black little beast.
Yuo, who was great at cooking, had a 'shadow' stirring a pot with his foot.
Toni, who always picked on her, had his head rolling, and Senri, who loved books, had her eyes gone, along with everyone else.
'Miss, Sati...?'
'...help, me...'
Sati's hand, which had been pierced by the monster's arm, fell limp.
The colors around her began to fade away as the light grew dim. A group of evil creatures stood before her, their malevolent presence suffocating.
But with a fierce expression that overshadowed those monsters, Shura killed every single beast.
That day, a warrior was born.
To keep her vow of revenge against the beast that took everything, she ran through Asgardam.
During this time, she was thanked sometimes. She received gifts of gratitude. She even had men who fell in love with her beauty. But she showed no interest and spent her days burying the beasts.
In the midst of all this, she met a knight.
The man with a strong face told Shura that her way was inefficient. If she wanted to be a sword to kill beasts, it would be better to have a proper status.
Shura replied that if he could beat her, she would accept his suggestion.
And then──Shura lost, and thanks to the knight, she was transferred to Valkyrie Academy.
Shura regretted it, but her pride wouldn't allow her to break her promise after losing. However, her days at the academy were boring, and the knight candidates her age annoyed her with their laziness.
Moreover, the knights she had to look up to were mostly corrupt, only caring about their own gain, and there were hardly any people she could admire. For someone who chose the path of fighting, they all seemed like weaklings.
But Eshurareze met Hiiro Merifar.
She met him, observed him, and got to know him.
Even though he was weak in strength and skills, he spoke with big words and had a sharp tongue. But he worked incredibly hard.
He had an unbreakable will, stubborn pride, and an endless desire to improve. All of it was "real."
For Shura, who spent her days disappointed in everyone around her, Hiiro was a kind of salvation.
Meeting Hiiro felt like the only good thing in her days of having to aim to be a knight.
And finally, she was truly saved in Korghi Village.
She wanted to see him up close for a little longer.
If he was going to move away, she wanted to chase after him.
She wants to repay him properly.
So, Eshurareze Midgard really wanted to save Hiiro no matter what.
"...We've arrived."
The sound of footsteps echoed on the stone floor.
Shura had reached the old building of Valkyrie Academy. It was no longer in use because it was falling apart, and the dark area around it seemed empty, not even a single animal was around.
"See, I came just like I promised."
But Shura called out to someone who should be there in the darkness. She didn't just randomly decide to come here.
'If you want to save Hiiro Merifar, come to the old school building's landing tonight. I will teach you how to save him.'
The mysterious letter from Sham had a time and place written on it. That's why Shura came here without hesitation. She was looking for a way to save Hiiro, that guy.
"──In every age, a person's worth is decided by their birth. And a person's greatness is wisdom. Those born into noble families and those who aren't show clear differences in their intelligence. Don't you think so too... you filthy commoner?"
"You..."
But Shura's desperate plea was mocked by a proud voice coming from the darkness. It was like a predator, thinking about how to deal with its caught prey.
"Thanks for showing up, Eshurareze. Haha, did you enjoy your little journey to this pathetic village?"
From the darkness stepped out the malice that had been lurking for a long time.
Ruzure Senegal had appeared.
