Chapter 43 Terminology Explanation Of The Third Daughter Skuld Vol Ii

It's been a while! I'm Skuld, the beloved third goddess of fate that everyone loves!

Since the new chapter started, there have been a lot of interesting terms popping up, so I'm here to explain them all! You should be grateful!

Oh, and feel free to give me some snacks as a thank you!

 [Einherjar Knights]

This is the main fighting force of Asgardam, made up of a group called "Knights."

Led by the knight commander Leonhart Sig, they are the strongest fighting group on the continent and mainly deal with beast incidents happening in the country.

There are 3 types of teams in the knights.

 - First! 'Brunhilde'

This is the largest team, and Leonhart is part of it. They mainly handle battles, and that's why the Einherjar Knights are said to be the strongest on the continent!

 - Second! 'Skorg'

This team is responsible for securing battle lines, getting and transporting supplies, scouting, and running facilities directly managed by the knights in Asgardam (like request desks, libraries, and archives). This team has the most members!

 - Third! 'Ráðgríðr'

They research, store, and "make good use of" beasts and magic. They also gather information about orphans across the country and their connection to the Ygg religion. This team doesn't seem very popular because their job doesn't feel very knight-like.

So, the Einherjar Knights are made up of these 3 main teams!

There are also secret organizations and other parts of the teams that I haven't talked about yet, but I'll introduce those later. Don't rush, everyone!

 [Magi and Four Primary Colors]

Magi is like the source of power that exists in everything, kind of like the basic atoms that make up this world.

You can also think of Magi as energy, and just like Hiiro said, it works like the MP in games.

It helps you be faster, tougher, sharper, and stronger. That's why skilled martial artists are good at using Magi.

Magi has different attributes, and there are 6 types in total.

Out of those 6, the 4 main Magi are called the '4 primary colors.'

 They are:

 'Fire Attribute' → 'Red'

 'Water Attribute' → 'Blue'

 'Wind Attribute' → 'Green'

 'Earth Attribute' → 'Yellow'

So, they are named by these colors.

Attributes have advantages over each other, just like in rock-paper-scissors!

*Red is strong against Blue, and Blue is strong against Green.

 Red

 Yellow Blue

 [Magic]

Magic is the 'art' used to handle Magi. There are magic types that match the 4 primary colors, and there are also general attributes like 'White' and 'Black' used by beasts.

But just thinking about magic won't make it happen. There are steps and extra elements needed to activate magic. I'll explain that now, so listen carefully!

What's important in magic are the spells and catalysts.

Magic is based on legends and myths, so the spells and catalysts often relate to those stories.

For example, there's a low-level magic called 'Ifrit's Claw' under the red category. Let's break it down:

 ────────

 - Magic Name

 'Ifrit's Claw'

 - Spell

'Burn, burn, the beginning of red'

 - Catalyst

Using fire increases the effect. (like a candle flame, lantern flame, or burning torch)

 - Magic Effect

 This magic creates flames.

 ────────

So, you hold a candle with fire and say 'Burn, burn, the beginning of red.' After that, you say the magic name 'Ifrit's Claw,' and you can release flames!

Oh, and while I said spells and catalysts are important, some skilled magic users can cast magic without them! That's called skipping the chant!

But the highest-level magic can't be activated without spells or catalysts. They are super powerful, so when they are shown, make sure to pay attention!

I've also summarized the characteristics of each of the four primary colors of magic.

It's good to remember these in a general way!

 - The [red] fire attribute:

Many aggressive elements like 'flame', 'light', and 'laser' excel in destructive power!

 - The [blue] water attribute:

This attribute, with its versatile elements like 'flowing water', 'healing', and 'ice', can produce significant results depending on the environment!

 - The [green] wind attribute:

'Wind', 'thunder', and 'obstruction' are its main elements, which excel in wide-range attacks and debuffs. It's a magic attribute well-suited for taking control.

 - The [yellow] yellow attribute:

With its versatile elements like 'earth', 'repulsion', and 'abundance', this attribute can be used in both standard artillery-style attacks and more technical ways!

 That's the gist of it!

Hmm, very clear. As expected of me! Wahaha!

 [The Ygg Religion]

This is the name of a faith and philosophy that has some support in parts of Asgardam.

 Be wise, be strong.

 Be a warrior who prays.

Be one who never ceases to pray for the souls that have ascended to the heavens.

That's the basic idea—a religion that praises those who fight!

It regards the Saga and Edda as its holy scriptures and venerates those who die in battle. It embraces the aesthetic of perishing while fighting for loved ones and has a bit of a "gone off the deep end" feel to it.

Believers wear feathered badges on their chests, and bishops and priests wear feathered bishop hats. These churches, which can often be found in various locations, often double as orphanages.

Additionally, devoted followers are called Ygglith. The Batigan family, which is part of the Quollio lineage, is also Ygglith (Rev: Yuglith into Ygglith)!

Phew, that's it for this time!

There were quite a few important settings this time, so I'm tired. Well done, everyone! You have my praise!

Now that I've finished one part of my work... it's time for my reward!

Bring me the sweets! Bring them now!

Huh, Urðr-san!? Why are you here...? Oh! My reward is postponed!? Why!? What do you mean, a jian might appear? And that there's probably nothing prepared for me!? Well, it's not necessarily... Uwa, don't pull me like that!

Curse you, curse youuuuuuuu!! Next time, I'll definitely... aaaahhhh!! Uwaaaaan!!!
