Volume 15 Chapter 1 Baron Naresh Territory Development Job

Volume 15 Chapter 1 Baron Naresh Territory Development Job

A few days later, early in the morning, Al placed Kane on a chair made with the 'Carrier' spell and took off from Nora Village. Kane had asked for this help before, and they had done aerial surveys several times.

 "Al, head north."

 "Al, now go west."

"Al, a little lower and slower."

As Kane said this, he was busy writing something on a piece of parchment. Sometimes, he would almost spill ink from the ink pot and let out a little scream, looking quite flustered.

"How is it? Can you confirm the target?"

"Yeah, I think so. I've roughly confirmed the locations of the rivers and forests around the ten villages that will become Sir Naresh's Baron territory. However, there are really a lot of wastelands. Some areas are quite advanced in desertification. That's probably why Viscount Parker didn't develop this area. It's really a tough region."

Kane said, his voice filled with concern.

"But from up here, I can clearly see the remaining greenery and the flow of the rivers. I can make a rough plan with this. Depending on the situation, I might have to consider relocating some villages, but I wonder what to do."

He continued, his eyes scanning the landscape below.

"But really, Al's 'Fly' spell is a lifesaver. The other day, I asked Viscount Parker for help, and the magician from the Viscount family just talked big but didn't make any progress. Plus, he could only carry me while flying, so he couldn't stay in the air for long, and he couldn't write anything while flying either."

 Al, nodding vigorously, said,

"Well then, with this, it's about time I'm..."

"Hey, that's not okay! I'm going to negotiate with the village heads based on this information."

Kane asserted, his voice filled with determination. In the next breath, he added,

"But I think there will definitely be some village heads who won't agree. Everyone has been working hard on their own for the past 6 months. It's only natural that they wouldn't easily accept it. At that time, we will need to confirm things from the sky again."

Kane paused, his eyes meeting Al's, as if seeking understanding.

"Well, I won't say it has to be forever. I want you to stay for another week," he began, his voice softening slightly. "No, actually, including the actual confirmation work, I want you to stay for another ten days. Think of it as a vacation. Please."

Kane pleaded, a hint of desperation creeping into his voice.

Ten days, huh... In just ten days, it will be the New Year.

Al was planning to welcome the New Year in Channing Village and then head out to explore the border areas, or the northern lands where the Tempest clan lived before the natural disasters occurred. But seeing Kane like this, Al gave up and accepted that it couldn't be helped.

It wasn't a rushed journey with a specific goal.

"Well, I should really be receiving a reward for my efforts," Al began, a hint of jest in his voice.

"But since there's no danger, and Kane has helped me a lot, I'm more than happy to extend my stay."

He continued, his tone turning more serious,

"So, just make sure to tell Lord Radyard and Mr. Craig that I'll be staying at the Levy Merchant Guild's mansion because of Kane's request. I don't want Naresh's friends to be staying there with their heads held high without doing anything. Of course, since Baroness Tabasa can't leave, it's for her too."

Al's words carried a sense of justice and consideration for those who had worked hard and those in need of support.

"Lord Radyard is one thing, but Mr. Craig can be really annoying. But I understand."

Kane made a grim face but nodded as if to say it couldn't be helped. It seemed that the budget was still tight. Becoming a Baron must cost a lot of money.

Al knew this, so he didn't mention money. However, it was necessary to let them know that he was taking on requests.

"By the way, is the rumor about Baroness Tabasa true?"

While flying leisurely in the sky, Kane suddenly asked.

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"I heard you've been spending quite some time in Baroness Tabasa's room."

Kane said, a smile playing on his lips.

"Your presence seems to have had a positive impact. Since you started visiting, Baroness Tabasa and her maid Doris have become much friendlier and more cheerful. It's wonderful to see."

He paused, a thoughtful expression crossing his face.

"She used to look gloomy, often lost in thoughts of Lady Patricia, but lately, she seems to have found some happiness and comfort. I think Baroness Tabasa is a remarkable woman. Despite her young age and the tragedy she's endured, she carries herself with grace and strength."

Kane's words reflected his growing admiration for Baroness Tabasa and the positive changes he observed in her demeanor.

Wasn't it supposed to be fine as long as it wasn't Naresh? Craig said Al still looked like a kid, so it should be okay... Hmm, it seems it wasn't a problem, but it had become a rumor.

Al felt complicated. Of course, it wasn't a big mansion, and it was true that he visited her room almost every day, but...

"I'm just learning manners and stuff, really..."

 Al answered a bit flustered.

"Really? We're close, so there's no need for secrets, right?"

Kane grinned and playfully patted Al's shoulder.

 "It's really true, though."

Hmm, it was unfortunate that rumors had spread about him, a mere adventurer, regarding Baroness Tabasa. What should he do... Al scratched his head while thinking about this.

Even if he desperately denies it, it might have the opposite effect. Maybe he should consult with someone like Craig a bit.

"Umm... well, it's fine for now. Next time, tell me the details while we drink."

Kane said, nodding knowingly for some reason.

"I don't have anything to say, but by the way, is Kane the only one for Internal Affairs Minister?"

Thinking it might be a bit pushy, Al changed the topic.

"Yeah, that's right. Sir Naresh has asked my father, Viscount Lester, several times, but no one has come,"

Kane said, his voice carrying a hint of frustration. He continued,

"Well, since it's still uncertain what will happen in the Baron territory, many people might not want to go there. It seems the only response is that Baron Scully, the governor of the border city Lester, is handling it. Guildmaster Levy said that Baron Scully is the brother of Lady Agnes, the biological mother of Sir Sanjay, the legitimate son of Viscount Lester, so he thinks reinforcements from Sir Naresh are unlikely."

 Kane sighed,

"I've also asked if we could reach out to Baron Hawthorne instead of Baron Scully through my father, but it seems complicated. I really don't know the truth."

His expression changed completely from earlier to a serious one.

"But, you know, recently, Guildmaster Levy has been saying that he wants to arrange for a smart kid to help me out. That way, I can have my own subordinates."

 "Wow, that's great! Good luck~♪."

 "Yay~♪."

Al and Kane were chatting about this while continuing their work of checking the terrain from above.
