Volume 2 Chapter 4 Class Assignment
After the entrance ceremony, I headed to my assigned class.
Of course, Nickes and Emma are in the Skill Commerce Department, so we won't be in the same class.
There was a bulletin board for class assignments in front of the school building, so I checked it... It was a struggle to find my name because there were so many students.
"I'm in Commerce Department Class B," said Nickes.
"I'm in Commerce Department Class D," said Emma.
"I'm in Skill Department Class A," said Merry.
"Everyone found their classes quickly... um, I'm."
I checked classes A to E, but I couldn't find my name.
After a few minutes of searching... I found Elk's name and student number in Class F.
"Oh, found it. I'm in Class F."
"Seriously? Elk, look closely."
"Huh?"
"Class F has the new student representative named Yato."
"Oh, you're right."
It seems that the class assignments are made without regard to commoners or nobles.
By the way, the application form submitted to the academy includes your name, desired department, and skills. Nickes said that class assignments are decided based on who has what background, noble title, and skills.
Anyway, we decided to part ways here.
Emma looked at Elk with a worried expression.
"Mr. Elk..."
"Emma, our school life is finally starting."
"..."
"Don't worry about me. You just focus on studying."
"... Hehe, Mr. Elk, you're like my mom."
"Huh, really?"
Emma chuckled.
It seems like she's worried about Elk... which is understandable.
Elk laughed and said to Emma.
"Emma, please take care of me again."
"Yes!"
"Hey, hey you two, can I join in too?"
"Ahem. Brother, you shouldn't interrupt."
"Ahaha. Sorry, sorry. Nickes, Merry, nice to meet you both."
"Mr. Nickes, Ms. Merry, nice to meet you."
Elk said lightly, and Emma bowed her head.
Nickes and Merry also nodded to each other and bowed.
"Nice to meet you too."
"Nice to meet you. And Ms. Emma, you can just call me Merry."
"Yes! Then Merry, you can call me Emma."
"Okay. Emma."
"Oh! My unsociable little sister has made cute friends. I'm so happy!"
"Brother... I'm going to kick you, you know?"
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry!"
Elk and Emma laughed.
This was the start of their school life with friends Nickes and Merry.
* * *
Elk was heading to Class F.
He checked the Class F list, but Rosho and Sarissa's names were not there.
He didn't have much time to check, but they must be in some class.
When he arrived at the Class F classroom... Elk opened the door.
"What the hell are you doinggg!!"
"Shut up... it's your fault for trying to touch me. If you touch me with your dirty hands, I'll catch a small fry. Gross."
"Haaa!? I was just trying to be nice to you, but now I won't forgive you!!"
...Elk closed the door.
Why was Gambo, one of Marcos's followers, arguing with the new student representative Yato in front of the Class F teacher's desk?
He thought he would enter the classroom in a good mood, but it was ruined.
Elk quietly opened the door.
"Huh? ...You!? You're that weakling with Telekinesis!!"
Elk was immediately spotted by Gambo.
Because Gambo's voice was so loud, the whole class learned that Elk's skill was 'Telekinesis.'
To make matters worse, Elk was the last one to arrive in the classroom.
"Telekinesis, really?" "Hey, is he a commoner?" "Seriously?"
"Telekinesis is weak, right?" "Haha, that's hilarious."
The students who were watching Yato and Gambo argue suddenly turned their attention to Elk.
Gambo, with veins popping on his forehead, said,
"You really did it earlier, you trickster!!"
"Uh, um... what? You're the guy Gambo and where's that noble kid?"
"Wait!? Chuta is one thing, but calling Sir Marcos a kid!?"
"Your voice is too loud..."
"Shut up!! Chuta is in Class I, and Sir Marcos is in Class A!! Of course, Sir Marcos is in Class A because he's a noble!!"
"Hmm."
"More importantly... I'm going to pay you back for earlier, you trickster!! I'll show you my skill!!"
"Hey, don't do it in this classroom... ah, fine, whatever."
"Watch this!! My skill 'Steel Form'!!"
Gambo's right arm turned silver, along with his uniform.
Steel Form. It literally makes your body and anything you're wearing as hard as steel.
Elk pointed his right hand at Gambo, but───.
"Enough already."
"Wh-what!?"
Yato.
Yato had a 'sword' in her hand without anyone noticing.
But it wasn't just any sword. It was an ultra-thin single-edged sword.
Elk didn't realize that the 'sword' from the Yamato country was a katana.
"If you make any more noise, I'll cut you... Just so you know, this isn't a threat."
"Ugh...!!"
"Hmph. This level of hardness doesn't even need my skills. I don't like noisy people... This time it's just a warning, but next time I'll be serious about cutting you."
"Ugh..."
"...Hmph."
Yato lost interest in Gambo and sat down at a random seat.
Elk released his 'Telekinesis'. Gambo almost fell forward but ended up tripping instead.
"Ugh!? Ugh, ugh..."
"Are you okay?"
Elk whispered to Gambo.
"If you kept moving like that, you would've really been cut."
"Ugh..."
"You should thank me for stopping you, okay? That girl Yato seems really dangerous."
"...I'll remember this!! I'll pay you back at the 'Newcomer Tournament'!!"
Gambo stood up and plopped down in a random seat.
Elk also tried to sit in an empty spot, but...
"Did you see that Steel Form?" "That's crazy." "That sword is amazing."
"Is he really using Telekinesis?" "He looked scared."
Elk felt fed up.
Gambo, who showed off Steel Form, and Yato, who showed her sword, were getting praised... but for some reason, Elk, who used Telekinesis, was being labeled as a "scared weakling" who couldn't move.
"...Sigh."
Even though school life had just started, Elk's reputation was off to a bad start.
