Volume 12 Chapter 19 The Usual Role
Ice and the other 2 were walking towards him, but Fenrir didn't attack them right away.
They were at a distance where they could talk to each other. Until they reached that point, Fenrir had been waiting quietly. He crouched down, bringing his face close to the ground, and stared at the 3 of them.
As soon as Ice and the others stopped, Fenrir spoke up.
"...I've been disappointed. I never thought that master would be saved by the person they're supposed to protect, and now that person is being protected by them instead."
Fenrir looked down at the 3 of them with a mix of disdain and contempt. No, he was looking past them, seeing Wade behind them, and that's what he was saying.
Ice said,
"Fenrir-kun, we're really angry. We're truly angry."
She spoke calmly, but Fenrir shut his mouth, seeing the expression on her face.
"We were indeed protected by Wade-kun. But we've always wanted to protect Wade-kun. We couldn't protect Wade-kun because we were weak."
Ice sent ice birds flying around the surroundings. In a one-on-one battle against a strong enemy, the ice birds would be more effective.
Toxy, as usual, summoned the illusion of Hydra and spread his wings, fluttering them. But that was not all. She was still hiding the power she gained by killing her own god.
Sandra wrapped her body with purple lightning and opened and closed her fists to get a feel for it. Sandra was the only one who had completed the magic seal solely through her own abilities. A true genius, and the only one who could rival Wade's strength.
Ice waved her hand, giving orders to the ice birds, and declared...
"We're sick of being protected as the weak. We'll prove our strength by taking you down."
"Then, let's do it, Ice-sama! ――Domain Control, 'Fang of Fenrir'!"
Fenrir shouted as he attacked Ice and the others. He opened his massive jaws, baring his enormous fangs, ready to devour the 3 of them whole.
But Ice simply broke the ice clock and said,
"Domain Control, 'Helheim'."
Time stood still. The ice clock became the center, and a certain space around it froze completely.
It was the same for Toxy and Sandra. 'Helheim' would never allow anyone except Ice to move. It was the same even if Ice wanted it to be otherwise.
So, Ice created an ice soldier and had it carry the two away. They would be shocked, but since they had been warned, they would get used to it after a few times.
Ice also sent an ice bird flying at Fenrir's injured eye, but it didn't quite hit the mark. If Ice couldn't whittle down Fenrir's strength, she wouldn't be able to defeat him alone.
It wouldn't be easy. Ice thought to herself as she moved away from the scene.
In an instant, Ice and the others had vanished from sight.
"Tch...! Just as expected. Hel's Domain Control. What's going on? Did Ice-sama eat Hel? But, can humans devour Demons and steal their sorcery? I don't get it...!"
Fenrir didn't understand. But, either way, what needed to be done remained the same.
"Take down the 3, and kill Master Wade."
In other words, unless he killed Master Wade, he couldn't kill those 3. Rollo had told him so.
...He thinks he understands the intention. He, Fenrir, has no intention of going against Rollo's wishes.
Even now, as he's fighting, he only feels gratitude and affection towards Wade and the others. He's not fighting because he hates them, not at all.
"Well, what's next?"
If those 3 aren't going to show up, he has no reason to actively search for them from his side.
If they attack, he'll just deal with it. Either way, he still can't kill those 3. First and foremost, it's got to be Wade. So, finding Wade becomes the top priority.

Fenrir's body trembled without any strength, and he fell onto his side. The building beneath him crumbled. Toxy had somehow crawled out of his mouth.
And with a voice that sounded like she was on cloud nine, she said,
"Yes! My poison works on anyone! The poison of the god-killer, combined with the poison of the gods! Instant paralysis! It was a pain to calculate because of your huge body, but..."
Toxy danced on top of Fenrir's body, laughing like that. Fenrir desperately tried to get up, baring his teeth and snarling.
"Toxy-sama... You're way too laid-back!"
His body isn't listening to what he's saying. Well, he'll just have to make it listen with his willpower, then.
Fenrir gathered all his strength and jumped up at Toxy with the power of his will.
―――First, take down one person. Nullify their fate and make them fall. Then, spit them out without killing them―――
Just as he thought that, he realized Toxy was still laughing nonchalantly, even as Fenrir bit into him.
"Hee! I got bitten by Fenrir! Hahaha!"

Toxy just laughed. He touched Fenrir's fangs, stroked them, and then...

Right after, he heard a voice in his ear, and Fenrir shook his head. The voice saying "Hahaha!" grew distant.
"W, what's going on? What's happening? Where did Toxy-sama go? I'm sure I bit her with these fangs..."
"You're going to get it, dog! This time, I'll make you pay with your life!"

Just as he realized it, Sandra had jumped in, and his body, lacking strength, jumped up at her. But Sandra, with the main god residing within her, wouldn't miss her target.
"Thunderous Ceraunos! Pierce through!"
Dark clouds gathered, and numerous lightning bolts gathered in the air, then struck Fenrir's body with great force.
"Gaaaaaa!"
Fenrir screamed from the impact. His entire body was numb. The numbness from the paralyzing poison was amplified, and his body, already unable to listen to what he was saying, became even more unresponsive.
"G, u...! This, this is, crap...! ."
Fenrir growled. And then, he collapsed on the spot.
His body won't move. Despite his determination to keep fighting, his whole body is numb and can't move properly.
"Hahaha, dog. You've finally fallen to my lightning."
"Sandra, can't you do something about that tone? It's giving me the creeps."
"What's important is getting into character, girl. If you confidently say 'I am Zeus!' you'll get a good power sync. But if you overdo it, you'll lose half of your control."
"What's with that creepy magic..."
Just as Fenrir was thinking that, Toxy and Sandra appeared. They seemed confident in their victory, and approached Fenrir with ease, as if to deliver the finishing blow.
Fenrir glared at the two, cursing them in his mind.
Ice still hasn't shown up. Well, that's fine. He'll just take care of these two first.
"Gleipnir."
Out of nowhere, Gleipnir appeared, binding the two who had let their guard down.
"Ah!?" "No way!"
"You can't afford to get careless in a fight... it's not good at all!"
Gleipnir swung the two around, slamming them into a nearby building. The building's wall scraped against their bodies, and they were smashed to a pulp.
Even if they were tough, the attack was almost the same as the one Wade used on me. This has to be effective.
After finishing the attack, he cautiously approached Gleipnir to check if they were dead.
Both of them were lying there, motionless. It was hard to tell because of their small size, but they were still breathing faintly. They must still be alive.
"Alright, now it's just Ice-sama left alone――――."
Just as he thought that, the two bound by Gleipnir suddenly exploded.
"Ah!?"
Fenrir was blown away and stumbled. When he looked, the two people he had restrained turned into ice blocks and shattered into pieces with a "plopping" sound.

"Yeah, that's right. My magic."
"I-Ice-sama!"
Fenrir tried to shake off Ice, who was standing above him, but Ice endured the impossible burden and clung to Fenrir's body.
"Fenrir-kun, you're strong, you know. Your body, your Gleipnir, and your Domain Control are all strong. That's why I let you rampage from a safe distance. And that's how I figured it out."
"What do you mean you figured it out?! Let me go!"
As Fenrir said this, he shook his head, but Ice continued to cling to him with ease.
"Fenrir-kun, you can't be defeated by normal means. Not even with Sandra-chan's attacks, Toxy-chan's attacks, or even my own. You see, you're already recovering to the point where you can get back up."
Fenrir was left speechless.
That's right. Ice's observation was correct. Ever since Fenrir got this body, he had been growing nonstop.
In the process, he could recover from lightning and poison in just a little time. Of course, his hair was a mess, and he was all bloody, but underneath, he was unscathed.
That's what Fenrir thought. Did he realize it?

Ice said.

Ice exploded.

Fenrir cried out as countless ice shards pierced his eyes. However, due to the influence of his growing body, the wound quickly healed, and the pain disappeared.
Then, Fenrir clicked his tongue.
"Tch, if my true nature's been exposed, I'm done playing along. From now on, I'll attack you head-on, okay?"

The cat-and-mouse game was over. From here on, Fenrir would trample everything and reach Wade.
Fenrir began to run through the city-sized streets with his massive body.
