Volume 12 Chapter 15 Fenrir
Sandra was staring at the enormous wolf that appeared before her, her eyes wide with wonder.
"Huge!"
She had heard that Loki was originally a giant and that many of his family members were also gigantic, but this was the first time Sandra had seen a wolf of this enormous size in her life.
Sandra had been blown away by Sur and had been knocked out for a while. However, since she had already acquired the second heart, Anahata Chakra, she regained consciousness and quickly revived.
And now, she could hear the screams. When she arrived, Renril had already finished eating the head of the beast girl, and it seemed pointless to interfere anymore, so she just watched.
But what was astonishing was Renril's current size.
He was bigger than the nearby buildings, of course. The roofs of the buildings only reached up to his knees, and if he stood up, his front legs would likely reach the roof of the protection tower.
The Demons living in Bazaar sensed the danger and fled in panic. There were many people in Bazaar, and likely, many would die in this battle.
Just a while ago, Sandra had been looking down from the roof of a building, but now she found herself being looked down upon from high above, gazing up at the enormous wolf in awe.
"Incredible... huge!"
"...You're still so childish, Sandra-sama."
"My heart remains youthful."
"You're still in your teens, aren't you?"
Even though he had grown, he was still Renril-like. The way he engaged in casual conversation made him seem more like an old friend rather than a complete enemy――
"So, let's play."
"...Haha. Sandra-sama, didn't you secretly eavesdrop on our conversation?"
"I don't know anything."
"Is that so? Your words are really difficult to read."
As Renril was about to transform into a gigantic wolf, he felt a strange sensation, like he was unaccustomed to it. But at the same time, he felt nostalgic, like he was revisiting a familiar place.
"Ah, yes."
He smiled, his wolf's mouth curling up.
"That's right, it was like this back then."
And then, he charged forward.
Sandra chanted "'Indra'" and activated her Thunder Speed, releasing multiple chakras simultaneously. At the same time, she burst forth with all her might, aiming to dodge.
But her dodge failed.
Even with her Thunder Speed, she couldn't outrun his attack. His incredible charge destroyed everything in its path.
Buildings collapsed, demons were torn apart and scattered on the ground, and the earth was left scarred and exposed.
In the midst of that charge, Swadhisthana Chakra was destroyed in one hit. The crying infant-like chakra was comforted with a "there, there", but it was still out of commission for the time being.
"Everyone, stop bullying Swa-chan with one hit. You're being too harsh."
"What are you saying, Sandra-sama..."
He said, about a hundred meters away from where he had charged through. Sandra had thought she was talking to herself, but he could apparently hear her.
Setting that aside, Sandra thought to herself.
Swadhisthana Chakra was destroyed in one hit. But that was all――it had simply reached its limit and was temporarily stunned.
On the other hand, the next chakra, the second heart, Anahata Chakra, was still unused and pulsing.
In other words, only one of her guards was broken. Only one out of the two.
And what's more, she had already obtained a considerable harvest.
"But, Sandra-sama. I don't really understand, but what do you think about the impact you just took? I've gotten pretty strong, right?"
Renril said with a provocative tone.
"Very strong. But, that shoulder exercise was a bad move," Sandra replied.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"The attack you just launched was about 70% of your actual power. If you gradually increase it from now on, I can anticipate and react accordingly."
*Zap*, electricity crackled around Sandra. It was clear how much she had anticipated and how she would move next. All that was left was to execute it.
Renril laughed with a fighting spirit at Sandra's words.
"Then, you can dodge this too, right?!"
Renril charged forward.
Sandra, however, had already moved at lightning speed and dodged to the side, using her dynamic vision to her advantage.
And so, Sandra dodged. After Renril charged past, the building began to collapse, and the demon residents started dying.
Sandra remained unscathed. She landed lightly on the rooftop, gave Renril a peace sign, and said,
"Child's play."
"――――Hah? Hahaha, yeah, that's amazing, Sandra-sama! I, in my previous life as Fenrir, killed Odin, the main god of Norse mythology!"
While saying that, Renril's gaze began to fill with a faint killing intent.
"The main god, huh? That's a coincidence. My god is Zeus, the main god of Greek mythology. Since I've completed the magic seal, I can fight with power equal to Zeus'."
It's still a bit too much. She can wield Zeus' power, but whether she can fight on the same level as Zeus or not, it's probably impossible.
Sandra still has room for growth. She can get stronger. She can get even stronger. In other words, Sandra is still weak.
Fenrir laughs at Sandra's story.
"Hahahahaha! No way, that's amazing! Seal of Completion, the Creator said it's 'impossible'! What's with you guys? Are you really human!? ."
"You're the one who's casually bringing up the Creator's episode, it's terrifying. I feel like I'm having a conversation with a god."
"Well, I'm almost a god, but I'm categorized as a monster, though."
What's that supposed to mean?
"If you're a monster, we have one too. We're married to Wade together."
"Toxy-sama was like that, haha, I mean, it's true, I never get tired of talking to Sandra-sama. But probably, it'll be more fun if we fight, don't you think?"
Renril starts to gather power in his body once again. This time, it's different from the previous 2 charges, and the real battle is about to begin. That's the atmosphere that's starting to emanate from Renril.
Sandra nods deeply in response.
"Let's do it. Renril is different from Sur, and your aim is rough, so I think I can be your opponent."
"Ahahahahaha! Then let's start!
Renril charges at Sandra.
With tremendous force, Renril bites his teeth and dashes towards Sandra. Sandra avoids it by jumping into the air at lightning-fast speed.
"Don't let your guard down!"
In sync with that, Renril swings his tail. His massive tail swings towards Sandra.
"As expected."
Sandra dodged that with ease. Then, she grabbed Renril's tail with her hands, and stuck to him.
"Whoa?"
"I'll test how sturdy this body is. Thunderbolt Burst Out."
Through Renril's tail, Sandra's maximum output of lightning ran through Renril's body.
"Woah! Hahahahahaha!"
Renril shouted. He shouted, but it didn't seem to have any effect. As Sandra thought, the raw power didn't seem to be able to break through Renril's defense.
"That was amazing! Now it's my turn!"
Renril swung his tail with all his might.
Sandra withstood it for an instant, but her Anahata Chakra was still immature, and she was easily knocked down. She crashed into the roof with incredible force, her body contorting in an unnatural way as she flew off.
"Ugh..."
While bouncing off the roof multiple times, Sandra got battered and bruised. Eventually, she lost her momentum and fell to the ground in a pitiful state.
"Ugh... it hurts. 'Indra'."
Since her Anahata Chakra was weakened, she muttered the mantra. Her Anahata Chakra pulsed, and her body began to recover.
What she realized after mastering the Anahata Chakra was that it wasn't healing, but rather reconstructing. It was like molding her body back to its original state, rebuilding it like clay. That was what the Anahata Chakra did.
And she realized that, unlike Wade, who could recover instantly, it was much harder than she thought. Mastering Chakra in a short period of time was, in itself, a genius-level feat, but it was impossible to do it as smoothly as Wade did.
"Huh? Sandra-sama, where are you? The scent is coming from this direction, though."
The giant wolf, Renril's footsteps are getting closer. It's like a small earthquake, she think as she stands up straight.
"I'll lose for sure if I get caught now."
She mutters under her breath. That's why she prays. Please don't let her get found.
While she's praying like that, she gets found out.
"...Sandra, you're all battered. Are you okay?"
It's Wade, her beloved husband.
"...I'm okay. But I had a rough time, so please comfort me and pamper me."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Hold me like a princess, and squeeze me tight. If you do that, I'll regain my energy and recover faster."
"Well, maybe. Haha, okay then. Here, I'll hold you like a princess."
She's lifted up and held tightly. She listens to Wade's heartbeat as she's held.
Thud, thud, thud, a regular rhythm. A soothing sound. With that tempo, she starts to recover.
And then, she recovers.
"Oh, you're back to normal."
"Not yet, just a bit more."
"Liar, I'll put you down."
"Wade's stingy."
She's put down, and a voice calls out.
"What are you two doing, flirting in the middle of a battle?"
"Renril, I finally found you. You're late."
"You're the one who was hiding, Sandra-sama!"
Renril growls, and Wade laughs. "You guys are fighting without any sense of urgency," he says with a chuckle.
"That's how it is. Renril, it's your turn. Since we're at it, fight me too. I just fought Surtr and my shoulders are still warm."
Because of Wade's words, Sandra and Renril both come to a realization. Sandra exclaims, "As expected, Wade is amazing!" and hugs him tightly.
Renril bursts into loud laughter.
"Hahahahahaha! You were amazing too, Sandra-sama, but master is on a whole different level. I mean, Surtr-sama was undefeated even in Ragnarok, after all."
As he speaks, Renril's body begins to grow larger, as if he's regaining his true form. No, he's actually growing larger. Renril is still in the process of regaining his true form.
"But I'm getting stronger too, master. I'm gradually regaining my powers. I'm sure I can satisfy you."
"That's good. I'm looking forward to it."
Wade readies his sword, and Renril focuses his energy once more. Sandra stands beside Wade and says,
"Wade's here, so I'll go all out too. I can only maintain it for a short time, so let's make it a quick battle, okay?"
"Alright. Then, let's go!"
Wade takes a step forward. Sandra takes a step forward as well. And then, Renril unleashes his massive power.
