Volume 9 Chapter 1 Arrival At Demon King City
It's been a few months since we set out for the Demon King's Castle.
Our journey has been a big production. That's because we enslaved most of the demons in Bael's territory and brought them with us. It's been a tough road, but we're almost there. Just a little farther and we'll reach the Demon King's City...
One morning, I woke up feeling weird in my stomach. When I opened my eyes, I saw that my internal organs were being eaten by a demon!
"Ah, Master's awake? Good morning!"
"Good morning, Master. We've prepared your breakfast."
The demon who greeted me so calmly was Renril and Rollo, the first demons I enslaved. They were the ones who used to eat humans on the surface, and I had killed them. But I spared their lives and made them my slaves.
I thought they were doing a good job, but...
"What? You're rebelling? Gah!"
"Hehe, Master's so surprised! It's just a little surprise!"
"I'm sorry, I came to wake you up, but I'm a bit hungry..."
"You're hungry, so you're going to eat me?"
"Yeah!" "Yes... Don't humans usually do that?"
Even as I protested, the demon siblings just kept eating my internal organs. My face was covered in blood. Ugh.
"...Sigh."
I realized that demons and humans just can't understand each other. Then I ordered them to stop eating.
The siblings immediately stopped eating. As master and slave, our relationship is clear: I give orders, and they obey.
I told myself that as a slave, they should be better trained.
I looked down at my internal organs, which were already healing. My Anahata Chakra was working well, thankfully. If I didn't have it, I would have died in this ordinary situation.
I thought to myself, "This is what hell is like." I glared at them and said.
"If a slave rebels against their master while they're sleeping, I'll kill them once and for all, and send them back to their hometown in the countryside."
When a demon dies, it returns to its hometown. Because it's essentially a spirit, it can't die until it's reborn as a pillar of salt.
So, I'm going to kick them out of our group, and I'm warning them about it.
Then, Rollo, a cheeky little demon girl, burst out laughing and said,
"Hahaha, no way! I've already set my respawn point to be near my master, so even if I die, I'll just come back to life near Master!"
Rollo exclaimed, "Belo belo bar!"
"Wait, what's Relli, Rollo saying? What does it mean?"
"Well, demons can choose where they want to respawn. If we're slaves and we die, we can escape, but if we're forced to respawn somewhere we don't want to be, it's a total disaster."
"Wow, demons have a really convenient respawn system."
I thought to myself, "If I become a slave to a master I hate, I can just die and escape, but if I'm a slave to a master I like, I can respawn near them. Nice, huh?" As I looked at Rollo, I thought, "This little demon is totally messing with me..."
I look at Rollo and think, "A beloved master, huh?" She's totally making fun of me.
I look away from Rollo and ask Renril,
"Is that the same for you, Renril?"
"Yes. Actually, I think the grand master has already changed the resurrection locations of all the demon sl*ves following the master. This journey has been quite comfortable."
"Well, I made sure you wouldn't go hungry."
I nod, understanding, and then say to the 2,
"So that means even if I kill you now, it won't have much meaning like expulsion, right? I can just kill you quickly?"
"Yikes!" "Oops, I messed up."
"A flick on the forehead."
I use a combination of Anahata Chakra body modification and gravity magic to enhance the power of a flick on the forehead, and I blow their heads off. *Bang!*
Their heads burst, and they die. "Ow!" "Maybe I shouldn't eat my master next time I get hungry..." They revive, and I stand up.
"Master? Where are you going?"
"Just outside for a bit."
"See you later." "See ya!"
"Take care of my body."
"Alright, let's have breakfast." "Okay! Oh, brother, can we switch breakfasts? I'm sick of eating meat."
I waved goodbye to my siblings, who were having a deep conversation about things like 'the dignity of corpses.' I adjusted the horns on my head and stepped out of the tent.
A world of pure white snow stretched out before me.
It was the road to the Demon King's castle town, a place that was always covered in snow. We were deep in the forest, halfway there.
I looked around and saw countless tents belonging to my companions and sl*ves spread out across the path.
"...when I think about it, we're quite a big group."
Only one day left until we reached the Demon King's castle town.
Our journey to defeat the Demon King in Nilfheim was finally reaching its climax.
After my speech, I decided to move with all the demons I had gathered.
Our destination was, needless to say, the Demon King's castle town.
The journey so far had been tough.
For example, there were the rebellions of the sl*ve demons, the attacks on passing villages, and the fierce battles against wild monsters. It was a journey filled with pointless fights.
"Why do these demons keep attacking us...?"
"Master! Be careful! Oof!?"
"You're such a pain in the morning."
I remembered something the demon siblings had told me earlier, so I punched the demon that had attacked me without holding back.
"G...as expected of the master...! But don't let your guard down. Your bored sl*ves will keep attacking you for fun!"
"I've almost forgotten what a sl*ve is."
I pulled my fist back. The demon died. And then, the demon I had just killed revived and dragged its own corpse away, saying, "Alright, I'll eat this for breakfast."
"..."
I wondered if it felt any resistance to eating itself. Probably not. I didn't know in the past, but now, definitely not.
Because of these frequent, casual rebellions, I made a decision.
"Let's tighten up our defenses..."
I entered the nearby forest as a warm-up before breakfast.
I walked through the crunchy virgin snow and found Clay training in a clearing in the forest.
"Hey."
"Oh, good morning, Wade-kun."
Clay seemed to be training in the cold with his upper body bare. The intensity of his exercise made sweat rise from his skin like steam.
"You're full of energy today."
"It seems like Wade-kun is also admired by the demons."
"This morning, I was eaten by 2 people and attacked by one."
"They're just playing around, right?"
He teased me, and I shrugged my shoulders, saying, "Give me a break."
"Since I understood their nature, I don't dislike them as much. They're just mischievous troublemakers, after all."
"Even so, it's a bit much to be bothered like that... By the way, aren't Clay and the others bothered that much?"
"In my case, Typhon automatically repels threats."
Clay said, tapping his left and right hands where there were magic seals.
Then, a face appeared there.
'What's this, Clay. Enemy?'
"I've never shown this state to Wade-kun before, so I wanted to show it to you."
'Mm. Oh, indeed. Since my true form can reach the sky just by standing, this small form must be precious! Take a good look!'
"Typhon is nice. You're always in a good mood, so I'm jealous of Clay."
"I won't give it to you."
'Until Clay dies, I will act as Clay's summoned beast! Hahaha!'
I laughed it off and then asked for advice.
"Hey, since it's a good time, can you help me with something?"
"Of course, I don't mind. What's the problem?"
"It's not really a problem, but well, it's true. I was thinking of acquiring some invincible defense skills while I can."
"It's not just a little thing."
As usual, Clay dismissed it with a gentle smile.
