Volume 8 Chapter 33 The Evil God ●●●●● Battle - Part Ii

"I'll decide the division of labor," I said.

"Ice, you're in charge of restraining those scattered Demons. Toxy, you'll handle the giant. Mudi and I will take on the Evil God."

"Roger that." the girls replied. ."Then let's go kill some gods, shall we?"

Ice flew away from me, riding an ice bird back into the sky. As the bird flew, ice fragments rained down from its trail, quickly growing into a giant ice soldier.

Toxy flew up even higher, her wings spread wide as she glared at the giant Demon. The Demon let out an eerie cry, but Toxy didn't flinch.

We landed, watching as the Demons were instantly restrained by the ice soldiers. We stood before the Evil God, who gazed at us with an unhealthy pale complexion and bloodshot eyes.

So, it was up to Mudi and me to take on the Evil God, 2 against one.

Toxy would handle the giant bone Demon on the other side.

The countless Demons swarming around us were being suppressed by Ice's ice soldiers.

The 4 of us thought we had excessive power, but I guess you could say it was just right for taking on a god.

I muttered to myself, "Maybe it would've been more fun to take it on alone..." Mudi teased me, saying, "Look at the cocky disciple!"

Then I took a deep breath, focused my mind, and glared at the Evil God.

As I looked, I saw that the poison Toxy had inflicted on it was supposed to have melted his skin, but it had already healed. Mudi said, "I guess even god-slaying poison doesn't work on gods from a different mythology."

Oh well. We were all set to provoke the Evil God.

"Hey, Evil God. No hard feelings, but we're gonna kill you here."

"It's been a while since I've killed a god. What's your name, you piece of trash? Tell me, and I'll crush you in an instant."

 "―――!"

The Evil God glared at us, his wrath palpable. He pulled out a whip from thin air, and with a swift motion, summoned a horse from the void.

In an instant, he mounted the horse, and with a fierce cry, he began to gallop through the village. He took out a horn and blew it loudly.

The Demons covered their heads, howling in pain, as different body parts on each of them began to glow. I grew cautious, sensing something was off.

"What's the evil god doing, Mudi? Is it powering up the demon?"

"Yeah, that's probably it. Look, even the giant is sparkling all over."

"Hmm... Well, let's think about it after we attack once."

I swing my Durandal and strike the evil god, but it's surrounded by light and dodges my attack, continuing to run.

 "Huh?"

"You're too hasty. Didn't I say we should start by figuring out the god's name?"

"Ah, I see. So it's like Roman's initial invincibility or something, right? That's what it means to be a god."

It's more like Toxy's poison, which can deal damage even on the first try, is amazing. That's some god-killing poison.

As I'm impressed, the demons start attacking us. No choice, let's take care of them first, I think, and prepare my sword. Then, a voice comes from above.

"Wade-kun and the others, focus on the evil god...! I'll take care of the demons, so..."

The ice soldiers attack the demons from behind, but these demons aren't ordinary demons. They're demons powered up by the evil god. Each one tries to unleash a massive sorcery in an instant.

But the ice soldiers aren't affected by it at all.

For example, they can withstand a massive flame torrent by quickly tracing a rune and floating on the ice, then break through it. They can also take down a mysterious magic beast by attacking it simultaneously with multiple ice soldiers and binding it quickly.

 "Whoa!"

I involuntarily let out a voice. The ice soldiers are like individual rune magicians, using runes to deflect sorcery, slash, and sometimes even coordinate their attacks to take down their enemies with flair.

At a glance, they seem like an invincible, elite army. The ice soldiers can shatter and quickly restore themselves, then attack again. With just one of them, they can exhibit powers rivaling a top-tier, immortal gold-rank.

"This is the first time I've seen so many ice soldiers in action... it's amazing."

I'm deeply convinced by what I'm seeing. I guess this is why everyone trusts Ice. With just one person, she can change the tide of battle. No wonder everyone recommends Ice.

"Got it! Let's leave everything to Ice! Mudi, teach me the procedure for killing gods again. Was it about revealing their names?"

When I said that, Ice replied "Leave it to me...!" in the air, and Mudi nodded, saying "Alright, let's start from there."

Mudi pointed at the evil god running wild.

"The flow of god-slaying is to first identify the name, then determine the role in the myth and, if necessary, the cause of death."

 "I know that. So what?"

"From there, it's up to us. We'll do it with our actual strength. So, the important thing is to identify the name."

 For example, Mudi said.

"That guy is a god from Norse mythology. Since we're in the Norse mythological hell, Nilfheim, that's definitely correct. And, the black light is shining frequently. So, he's probably a god of light too."

 Then, Mudi said.

"There are only 2 notable gods of light in Norse mythology. Baldr and Heimdall. And, having a horn is also a distinctive feature. So, it's decided to be Heimdall."

The moment that name was called, the evil god――Heimdall――clearly reacted. He grasped the reins, glared at us, and blew the horn towards us.

The sound was unlike anything I'd heard before. It wasn't just trying to enter my body. It was more like it was trying to reach deeper...

I dodged it in a flash. But Heimdall, as if he had seen the future, accurately targeted us.

"Haha, so that's what it means to be a god-slayer."

Right after Mudi's boast, our chakra was shattered into tiny pieces.

 "Whoa, what the... ."

"Don't panic! I taught you what to do in times like this, didn't I?"

 "Brahma!"

"That's right! It's Brahma! It's getting interesting, Wade!"

We chanted the true words (mantra) together and restored our chakra. Then, the approaching Heimdall kicked us with his horse's legs.

"Ugh." "Hahaha, you're getting desperate, Heimdall!"

We dodged it, but it was as if we were read and trampled by the horse. I was torn apart for an instant, and Mudi laughed, saying "One arm is taken. That's a good one."

In an instant, I revived, and Mudi also restored his arm.

"There are enemies that can hurt Mudi, huh?"

"That's because he's a god, after all. But, it's not that big of a deal. Unless it's a war god or a main god, it's not that troublesome."

Kakakaka laughing, Mudi observes Heimdall. Heimdall, slightly distant, turns his horse around and comes back towards us.

"You gonna destroy myr Chakra right before I charge, huh? You're really trying to kill us, aren't you? That's just like the god's horn, Gjallarhorn, isn't it?"

"Hey, Mudi! If you know the name, tell me the weakness! I didn't study mythology, you know!"

"Hahahahah! You're so impatient, stupid disciple! What's Heimdall's weakness, anyway? He got killed by Loki in Ragnarok, is that his weakness?"

"Who's Loki? I think I've heard of him, but I don't know what kind of god he is!"

"I don't know, either. I know about the Trickster and all that, but was he a fire god or something?"

"Yeah, fire! Crap, Sur should've given us that info! Oh well, I'll just have to do it ourselves!"

As we're talking, Heimdall approaches us, getting closer and closer. The Gjallarhorn sounds, and our Chakra starts to break. Heimdall on horseback closes in.

But I'm not just a guy with Chakra.

 "Deep Gravity! Object Point Shift!"

My gravity magic, accompanied by divine love, can even reach the gods. Even if they have defenses against ordinary gravity magic, Deep Gravity's [Collapse] can pierce through it.

I use Deep Gravity to destroy Heimdall's divine power, and then knock him down with my gravity magic. Heimdall and his horse tumble to the ground, rolling on the ground while scattering snow.

As one pillar and one head slide on the ground, I hold Durandal and trace the Great Rune.

"Durandal, recreate. State the Aphorism. ——— 'Anger is the source of my power'!"

Durandal takes on the properties of the Wrath sword Gram. My entire body is filled with the power of controlled anger, governed by Sahasrara Chakra. But the important part is from here on.

In my anger, I discover the properties of flame imbued with magical power. I grasp it with my second eye, Ajna Chakra, and release it with my second brain, Sahasrara Racha.

Durandal is enveloped in flames of anger.

"IF FIRE IS THE WEAKNESS, THEN THIS SHOULD WORK, HEIMDALL!"

The gravity magic-imbued, Durandal's range-ignoring massive blow. It's swung down at Heimdall.

If it were just a normal blow, it wouldn't mean anything. But the flame-wrapped blow is reminiscent of Heimdall's myth.

The sword cuts Heimdall in half. Heimdall lets out a scream.

 "Ga, gaaaahhh!!"

There's a sense of impact. For Heimdall, who had been like a formless entity, there's a clear sense of impact.

"Loki... I won't forgive you... Ragnarok and more, I won't forgive you... Lokiiii!!"

Heimdall, whose consciousness is clouded, lets out a loud, clear cry, and the demon giant resonates with a howl.

However, the giant is already a corpse.

"Noisy. You're about to die anyway."

'Little girl, either way, it's over for you'

In front of Toxy, who had been fighting in mid-air, the 9 heads of Hydra gather. At their center, a poisonous purple energy sphere is swirling.

"That's right, Hydra. Shall we erase them?"

'Ah. Then, souls of the deceased who have been blasphemed by the evil gods. Become a hell victim again and live in a barren land'

 [Poisonous Dragon Breath]

Toxy unleashes Hydra's poisonous Dragon's Breath, which pierces the giant like Moruru's light beam.

From the center, the giant is melted away, crumbling, and disappearing. Heimdall watches, powerless, with a "Aa...".

"Wade-kun... He's restrained the other demons too...!"

Ice's ice soldiers have restrained all the demons, who had lost their selves and were rampaging, with ice, and locked them in an ice cage. No one can move inside the cage. It's like a cage, after all.

 "That's it, Heimdall."

Mudi, who had somehow ended up behind Heimdall, grabs the burning evil god Heimdall's neck and lifts him up.

"You've lost. What a shame. You were called by a demon, became an evil god, and couldn't even last an hour before being toyed with and killed. But don't worry. We've come to stop Ragnarok."

 "U... A..."

"...You don't even have the energy to answer anymore, huh? Well, Wade! Take responsibility and finish it off yourself!"

Mudi threw the Heimdal at me. I caught it with my gravity magic and suspended it in mid-air.

 "Heimdall."

I invoked the god's name. I readied Durandal, and exhaled.

And then I let out a fierce laugh.

"You may not know, but that was a fun fight. If I get the chance, I'll do it again."

The Durandal, wrapped in flames, slashed Heimdal horizontally in one swift motion. "Lo...Ki..." Heimdall muttered as it died.
