Volume 10 Chapter 9 The Evil God's Appearance
There was still more to the story about the evil god summoning strategy that Wade has not told about.
'Let's talk about what happens when you kill an evil god.'
As the evil god summoning was a form of sorcery, Sur was the most knowledgeable about it.
'An evil god is composed of a physical body created from tainted blood, a divine spirit tainted by the physical body, and the divine authority. And the divine authority is designed to assume that the divine physical body and spirit will always exist.'
Sur continued, 'And what does that mean?'
'The divine authority assumes that there will always be a host. If the host is lost, the authority becomes a lump of energy without direction. If it loses its way and control, it will just explode.'
In that sense, the evil god Heimdall they killed last time was an exception. Sur explained.
'It seems that Mudi-sama did something behind the scenes, so it didn't happen that way. Mudi-sama said, "Don't talk about it, it's embarrassing...".'
Anyway, Sur returned to the main topic.
'In any case, when a god loses its host, its authority can mistakenly recognize someone with the same magic seal nearby as its new host. When an evil god dies, its authority will transfer to the holder of the same magic seal.'
Sur took a deep breath before saying,
'This is the true power of god-slaying. By defeating an evil god and stealing its authority, we can gain an immense, sacrilegious power worthy of sorcery.'

Right after Clay poured the blood from the jar into the magic circle, he sensed his impending death and retreated from the area at full speed.
Luckily, there was a brief moment of delay.
So, he quickly gave the blood to Typhon and jumped into the giant's mouth that had opened on the ground.
Immediately after, a massive earthquake occurred from the magic circle. From Typhon's perspective, Clay witnessed the devastating scene.
Within a radius of several kilometers, all buildings had collapsed. Moreover, the ground had cracked, and massive rocks had pierced through the buildings of the slum.
The demons walking along the roadside were on the brink of death, but due to the runes directly engraved on their brains, they let out a sorrowful cry, "Oo... God..." while shedding tears.
And at the center of it all, where the magic circle was laid out.
There, a man with a robust upper body, carrying a trident and sporting a wet beard, stood tall.

Right after Toxy used Hydra's illusion to dump the contents of the barrel onto the magic circle, she was hit with a chilly sensation, and in an instant, she soared high into the air using Hydra's wings.
Then, a poisonous mist spread out from the magic circle, covering a section of the slum like a blanket.
The demons walking along the roadside took only one breath before sinking into the mist and dissolving away. Demons die and revive, so they repeated the cycle of reviving, inhaling the poisonous mist, dying, and dissolving.
The poisonous mist moved like water, flowing down to the lower areas and accumulating. At the bottom, the sludge created by the dissolved demons piled up, growing more and more visible.
Toxy gasped, looking at the spot where the magic circle was. There, a woman in loose clothing, holding a cup entwined with snakes, stood.
However, she looked up at Toxy, flashed a strange, warped smile, and inhaled the poisonous mist, dissolving away. The divine sludge created by her dissolution mixed with the sludge of the other demons.
And so, the god disappeared, leaving behind only remnants and influence.

I, along with Ice's ice soldiers, was watching the magic circle, where blood was being spilled, with caution.
The other 2 might be able to summon safely. Even if something happened, they had the ability to protect themselves. I didn't worry about them, even if they were near the evil god.
But Ice was different. I had no idea what would happen.
So, the 3 of us――I, Sandra, and Sur――were prepared to move quickly, no matter what. Rollo and Renril would be fine, even if they got caught up and died, since they'd just revive.
The contents of the barrel were completely absorbed into the magic circle. The massive amount of blood was stored, blocked by an invisible wall within the magic circle.
Then, after a brief pause, a strong sense of unease ran down our spines.
"Everyone! Be on high alert!"
At my command, everyone went on guard. The blood stored in the magic circle began to condense, taking on a human form.
And, like blood that had congealed, or a rusty red surface that had been peeled off, the inner workings were revealed.
"...Eh...?"
What was there was Ice. Sitting there, completely naked, without a single article of clothing.
"...?"
I was left speechless. Then, I turned my gaze to the real Ice.
Ice was also staring at the Ice standing in the magic circle, her eyes wide open.
There were 2 Ices.
Not a single person could accurately grasp the situation. I was late to react, and called out the name of the most skilled sorcerer Sur.
"Ah, I'm sorry, Wade-sama. I, too, don't understand this situation...!"
We were all confused. But there, one person began to move.
None other than Ice――the real Ice outside the magic circle――began walking towards the magic circle.
"?"
Ice was being drawn to something, and was approaching the magic circle with an unsteady gait. I was unable to decide whether to stop her or not, and simply watched the scene unfold.
And then, the two Ices touched. There was no hostility between them, just a gentle overlap of their hands.
The Ice suspected to be an evil god, the one inside the magic circle, collapsed.
"..., ....! ...Ah, Ice...!"
I hesitated, but still approached Ice in a hurry. Ice was staring at the hand that had touched the summoned Ice, her eyes fixed.
"Ice, are you okay? What just happened? Why did the evil god..."
"..."
But Ice just kept staring at her hand. Then, after a little while, she opened her hand, moved her fingers, and spoke.
"The evil god summoning failed, it seems."
"Eh?"
"But it didn't become a big deal. Rather...uh. There are too many things I don't understand, so... Sorry, Wade-kun. I'll explain it again when I figure it out, okay...?"
Ice didn't seem any different from usual. But somehow, I felt like she knew something I didn't, something beyond my understanding.
"...Got it. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know."
That's all I could say to Ice's words. Ice was already strong. If I overprotected her, she'd just get angry again.
"...I don't really get it~, but it feels like we should retry if we fail~?"
When Rollo asked, Ice shook her head, saying, "No... I think the result will be the same no matter how many times we try."
I crossed my arms, frustrated by the inexplicable situation.
"So, what do we do? If Ice fails, it'll worry the other 2 as well."
"Wade-kun! Run away now!"
Just as I was about to speak, Clay's words and Typhoon's fist burst into the abandoned house where we were.
In that instant, Typhoon's hand lifted the entire abandoned house, including the ground, and tossed it high into the air.
"Woooooaaaahhh!!"
I let out a pathetic cry at Clay's sudden betrayal. No, wait, Clay wouldn't betray us now. Calm down, me.
"Object Weight Reduce! Object Point Shift!"
I temporarily reduced the weight of everyone in the area, including the building, to near 0 and fixed us in mid-air. Then, Clay, who had ridden in on Typhoon, screamed at me.
"What are you doing?! I told you to run away now!"
"Huh?! No, because I――."
"That's not enough! That god, Poseidon, is not something we can handle at this level!"
Clay's words were cut off, and a silver flash ran between us. When I looked, a trident with 3 prongs had grown from the ground, its tip pointing upwards.
"Eh?"
"Run――."
My confusion was met with Clay's continued agitation.
And then, a voice echoed.
'Rage, storm!'
The air began to swirl around the trident at its center.
