Volume 6 Chapter 7 Let's Get Ready

Volume 6 Chapter 7 Let's Get Ready

After returning home, I thought about what I should do in this limited time.

The war is about to begin. Without a doubt, within the next few days. I'll probably be summoned by the lord. I've also received a request from the guild regarding the start of the war.

Before that, I need to become as strong as possible. Time is extremely short. It will be extremely difficult. And the results will be directly revealed in the war.

But, I can do it. I'll show them.

 I exhaled and stood up.

"I'll be out for a bit. I might not come back today."

"Huh, at a time like this?"

Clay widened his eyes, and I shrugged my shoulders.

"I want to do what I can. It might be inappropriate for this war, but I've decided to enjoy it."

As I said that, Clay chuckled and said, "Enjoy it, huh. But, it would be reassuring for us if Wade-kun also enjoyed it. I think that's fine."

"Alright, I'll do that. Well, let the others know too."

"Got it. ...But still, what happened yesterday? No one else is coming except us."

"Ah, I'm busy, see you later!"

 "You're running away."

I rushed out of the house and headed to Drop's shop with the same steps as yesterday.

"Drop, do you know any skilled blacksmiths?"

"...Huh? Wade, even though you're an adventurer, you don't have a favorite blacksmith?"

Drop's expression as she asked back was exactly like she was disgusted. I remembered the game from my previous life and realized that I hadn't strengthened my weapons even though it was the end.

"Well, I've always been using a trainee's weapon."

"I see... That's why geniuses are like this. So? Is the weapon that big thing on your back?"

 "Yeah, that's right."

"Can you show it to me? Oh, but don't hand it over. Just put it there."

As I offered it, Drop said as if to deter me. "It'll be crushed." and gave me a nasty look, and so I placed it on the table.

 The table broke and collapsed.

 "..."

 "I'll compensate."

 "One silver coin."

I quietly handed over a silver coin. "Certainly." Drop said, and then began to observe the sword closely.

"Hmm...? I've been curious about it for a while, but it's a strange sword. It seems like it wasn't intended for human use. The quality is good, but it doesn't seem to be designed for practical use."

 "Are you knowledgeable about weapons?"

"I can manage a magic tool shop to some extent. But I'm not as skilled as a blacksmith, so I think I'd be better at introducing a suitable blacksmith for the weapon. Oh, no introduction fee is needed. In return, please continue to favor us in the future."

 "You're good at business."

Drop smirked mischievously and said, "Hmm, I guess it's confirmed that the maker is a weirdo," and then turned to me.

"Hey, you've been carrying this sword since your trainee days, right? Did you buy it at the training ground's weapon shop?"

"Yeah, I did. It was made by a trainee from the past, and no one could use it, so it was abandoned."

"A trainee from the past... And a quirky blacksmith. In that case, it's probably that person. There's no one else it could be."

 "You know who it is?"

"Definitely. There's a blacksmith near the main street chicken skewer shop, so try visiting there."

I thanked Drop and left, hearing her voice saying, "We look forward to your next visit."

I went out to the main street and followed the smell to the chicken skewer shop. From there, I found the blacksmith that Drop had mentioned.

As I entered, I heard the sound of metal being hammered and a disinterested voice saying, "Welcome."

 It was Sylvia.

 "Oh, it's Sylvia. Hey."

"! Wade. Since the Nightfather attack."

Sylvia seemed surprisingly fond of me and stood up from her chair with a bit of excitement.

I glanced around the shop. It was a place with a strong, rustic atmosphere, with a lot of iron being used. Sylvia had been sitting on the other side of the counter.

I tilted my head towards Sylvia.

 "Are you working here?"

"I'm not working. Just helping out my family. Since Rebellion Flame is off today, we both are doing our main job together."

 "Both?"

I tilted my head further to the opposite side. "Ah, that's right. Now I remember. Frain didn't introduce him." she said, looking satisfied.

Then Sylvia took my hand and said, "Come this way. I'll introduce him properly since you're here."

She led me to the back of the store, behind the counter. Despite it being winter, I could feel the heat.

There was a furnace. In front of it, a muscular man with only a thick apron on was earnestly hammering a sword.

His most noticeable feature was his bald head, which glistened with sweat.

I recognized the man and asked Sylvia about him.

"Yeah, he was at the Frain party."

"Yep, he's my big brother. Big brother! Wade's here!"

She called out loudly, and the man turned around and said, "Huh, what is it?" Oh, this guy. He's the one who threw Frain to the ground from his princess carry when I called him during the nightfather's battle.

"Oh, it's you, Wade. It's been a while since the cooperative battle. Do you remember me?"

"Sorry, Frain prevented self-introduction, so I didn't know."

"Haha... It's always that idiot leader's fault."

Frain really treated everyone like this in the party. It might be a sign of trust going full circle.

I sympathized, then cleared my throat and reached out my hand.

"Once again, I'm Wade. I recently found out my nickname is 'Slow,' and I'm quite disappointed."

"Haha! You're still an interesting guy. Oh, I should introduce myself too."

Sylvia's brother patted his bald head and introduced himself.

"I'm Gold. A member of the Rebellion Flame and Sylvia's brother. Like Sylvia, I'm magician with iron attribute. I've wanted to talk to you for a while."

 "It's an honor."

We shook hands again. "So." Gold asked me,

"what did you come here for today? You're carrying a big weapon, so did you happen to visit as a blacksmith?"

"Ah, it's an introduction from Drop."

"Drop! Isn't she the daughter of the top magic shop in Karditsa? It's an honor to be introduced by her."

After a little laughter, he was asked, "Well, show it to me right away." I took off the iron lump sword, and then, Gold furrowed his brow and said, "Huh?"

As I explained, I presented the iron lump sword to Gold.

"Drop said that there's only one 'weird' blacksmith who's a 'trainee' and that's you. She suspected that you might be the creator of this sword, so she brought me here."

"This is... nostalgic. Haha, it's so nostalgic that it makes me laugh. I heard that Wade uses a huge sword, but I never thought that I made it!"

The world is small. Saying this with sparkling eyes, Gold touched the iron lump sword. After a moment, he furrowed his brows intensely and said, "Huh!?"

"Hey, Wade... What did you do to this?"

Seeing this, Sylvia asked, "What's wrong, big brother?" But I had an idea, so I said, "Gold, you're amazing." and then I explained.

"As you might have guessed, this sword was once broken. I forcibly repaired it. What I want to discuss this time is about that. Can this sword be made unbreakable in Fist of the Dragon?"
