Volume 6 Chapter 2 Daily Life - Morning
Early in the morning, or rather, in the middle of the night, Moruru and I took a walk around the city and when we returned, Moruru said, "I'm sleepy." and went back to Ice's room to sleep. On the other hand, Ice came out as we passed each other.
"Good morning... Wade-kun."
Ice said with a timid tone, but with an affectionate smile that she didn't hide. I smiled back and took her hand, saying, "Good morning, Ice."
"Ah... hehe."
Ice blushed slightly with a white face as I held his hand, and our fingers intertwined. I thought it was cute when she looked up at me with embarrassed eyes.
"I'll make breakfast, okay..."
"Yeah. Should I help?"
"...! Yes... Let's make it together."
Ice replied with a smile full of happiness, and we headed to the kitchen. It was a time when the sky was gradually getting brighter. Besides Ice and me, no one else was awake, and there was a sweet atmosphere between the 2 of us.
Once we were in the kitchen, Ice seemed excited and said, "So, what should we make?"
"Since we have the opportunity, let's make a lot of dishes... Moussaka, Tzatziki, Taramasalata, Greek Salad, and Gemista would be nice, and while we're at it, let's make Spanakopita too."
She said, with an overwhelming repertoire.
"Ah, Ice... Well, it's morning, you know. I think it would be enough to have a couple of light dishes. Besides, there were quite a few dishes that I don't even know how to make."
There were some that I had never even heard of. Moussa...? Gemis...?
Ice looked a bit disappointed with my opinion.
"I-I'm sorry... It's my first time cooking with you, Wade-kun, so I might have gotten a little carried away."
"No, I understand your feelings, and I appreciate it, but having a table full of dishes that we can't finish in the morning would surprise me."
"You're right... Well then, let's just have boiled eggs."
"That's quite a contrast."
I remarked, as a row of boiled eggs lined up in the morning would be quite surprising.
"How about we make some bread or salad too? Just one more light dish would be enough. We can save the fancy pie-like dishes for lunch."
When I made the suggestion, Ice responded cheerfully, "Yeah..." Then, after looking at me for a moment, she suddenly stood on tiptoe, lightly kissed me, and said,
"Um, I, I forgot, so... good morning, kiss..."
"..."
I almost attacked her.
After finishing cooking with Ice, everyone started to gather for breakfast.
The morning routine of the Wade party, where everyone usually ate together, was noisy, with the 2 kids making a racket, Windy looking worn out from keeping an eye on them, and someone quietly tidying up the place once everything was confirmed to be in order.
And so, we finished our lively and noisy breakfast, and the atmosphere became relaxed.
"Wade-sama, is it okay?"
Ridge approached me and asked so. "Is something wrong?" When I inquired, Ridge straightened up and said,
"Today, I received orders from my father to spend some time at the lord's mansion. I will return with Windy once and convey our father's message at that time to you."
"...I understand. It's all planned out, so it's not a problem. By the way, can Moruru come along too?"
As I said that, Moruru protested, "Ehh, for how long?" I ruffled her head and shrugged, saying, "Until everything is settled."
Ridge humbly replied,
"Yes, that's correct. The lord's mansion is the safest place within Karditsa. It's appropriate for Moruru to be there as well."
"That's right. Moruru, you better behave."
"Mmm... I got it, I'll behave."
"Oh, you're agreeing so easily. I thought you'd protest a bit more."
"I... I played in the morning. I won't ask for more."
"Mmm. Good job."
I ruffled her head. Moruru looked a bit teary, but she held my hand with her own for a while, then hid behind Ridge.
I called out to Windy.
"Windy, do your best until Shadowmira comes out. Well, I don't plan on doing that."
"As you wish, Wade-sama."
Windy took Ridge and Moruru's hands with a flourish. It seems like they're going to get ready and leave soon.
Just as I thought that, Alex spoke up.
"Wade, I've decided to move a little away from the party house. You know, I'm just a powerless ordinary person."
"If Alex is an ordinary person, then so am I."
"Hahaha, that's impossible. Well, that's how it is. Even if you don't see me for a while, don't worry about me. I'm doing well."
"Alex, you seem more like the one worrying about us."
"You guys are, well, it's not unreliable, but you carry too much on your shoulders."
While saying that, Alex ruffled my head. It feels good to be treated like a little brother.
"Listen, remember this well."
Alex said.
"You guys have really become strong. But that doesn't mean you're safe from death. There are plenty of ways to kill a hero. And a battle between heroes is just as deadly as any other fight."
"Yeah. I'll keep that in mind. I won't let my guard down."
"Yeah, do that. Take care."
Alex seemed to have already packed his things and headed for the entrance. In the meantime, the party members quietly said something to Alex. I decided not to listen to what was said.
After a while, Moruru, Ridge, and Windy also headed to Lord's mansion, leaving only the party members. From 9 people to 5. It feels quite lonely when about half of them are gone.
I pondered in silence for a while, then got up from the sofa.
"Wade-kun, where are you going?"
Clay asked, and I replied, "Just going shopping." Then Toxy stood up and said, "Oh, then I'll come too. Let's get the Gold Sword adventurer certificate together."
