Volume 5 Chapter 17 Bonding Party - Re-Introductions
Nighttime. Toxy and I dressed up a bit and went to the designated restaurant. The waiter greeted us, saying, "Wade-sama, we've been expecting you."
The room we were guided to was a private room located deep inside. Frain and the others were already lined up there.
Frain, Kadras, and Sylvia.
The other three seem to be outcasts again. Poor them.
"I don't know what they're thinking, but those guys have work today again. Well, I'll just divide their share and give it to you guys."
Frain said, and Kadras teased him, "You're really meticulous about these things, you brat."
"Come on, sit down. The course won't come if you don't sit down."
And then there was Sylvia, who was clearly more interested in enjoying the food than the purpose of the bonding party. Seriously, everyone in this party is at their own pace.
So, Toxy and I sat down opposite the Frain party. As we waited for the food to come, I cleared my throat.
"Well, then. The self-introductions at the lord's mansion were pretty brief, so let's start with self-introductions. All I have is Frain's insults about you guys."
"Ah... yeah. Speaking of which, I've only been called an idiot."
Kadras chuckled. He's really taken on the role of a hardworking guy since I last saw him.
"Alright, I'll go first."
Frain sat up straight and began his self-introduction, touching the large burn around his eye as he spoke.
"I'm Frain. Wade and I have been fellow trainees since we got into a fight at the training ground. By the way, this big burn of mine is from Wade's counterattack. I won't forget this grudge."
"But you attacked me after the fight was over, so I had no choice but to do that!"
I hurriedly replied, and everyone except me and Frain looked surprised.
"You brat, is that so!? Did you get that burn in such a lame way!?"
"Frain, you're so lame. Seriously, you're disgusting."
"I'll give you guys a lot of tough quests in the future."
"You brat."
"The worst leader."
Toxy and I could only chuckle. This war of insults must be a regular occurrence for the Frain party.
I said to myself that it would be better if each party introduced themselves separately.
"Then, let me introduce myself next. I'm Wade. I became friends with Frain after we defeated a Chimera together during our training days."
"Wade, you defeated a Chimera during your training days!? Seriously!?" Toxy exclaimed.
"Wow, as expected of the boy. The training grounds... I heard you defeated it somewhere," Kadras said.
"As expected of the strongest Slow Magic... You were out of the ordinary even during your training days," Sylvia said.
It was a different reaction than I expected. I was aiming for a reaction like "We overcame hardships and became friends."
As I was thinking about this, Frain shook his head.
"No, Wade. You and I are not friends."
"Then what is this gathering for!? At least show some spirit to 'become friends'!"
This gathering is bad. It's more chaotic than I thought.
I couldn't hide my dissatisfaction and closed my mouth. Then Kadras made a cool face and said, "It's my turn next."
"I'm Kadras! I met this brat, the boy and the girl over there as enemies in Nightfather's Financial Department! And after a fierce battle, we reconciled."
"Wade was the one who beat you up. And then you were about to be scapegoated and ran away when you ran into me and we ran away together. It just happened to become a party. Don't embellish it."
"Brat, do you really hate hearing good things about people!? What kind of disposition is that, where you belittle others even if it means lowering yourself!"
Kadras, with a sullen face, yelled at Frain. Frain didn't say anything while looking annoyed.
Toxy said.
"Anyway, I get it that they're friends."
"Frain's party certainly looks close."
We exchanged opinions in whispers since it was annoying to be interrupted. Frain's party was staring at us suspiciously as a group. That's how they are.
Then Toxy cleared her throat.
"Alright, it's my turn now. I'm Toxy. Well, I'm known for my magic attributes, and I used to be a solo adventurer until Wade took me in."
I announced proudly.
"She's my wife."
"Ah, haha... That's embarrassing, but yeah, that's about it."
The Frain party looked surprised. Toxy, now even more embarrassed, started saying unnecessary things.
"Ah, ah, um, well, that's right! I'm going to be Wade's wife! But, I'm not the only one! There are 2 other wives too!"
Toxy said, her eyes rolling around. The Frain party looked at me with a 'Seriously?' expression.
I said.
"For now, we're aiming for 30 kids."
"Wade!? Hey, 30!? Even if you just divide it by the number of people, that's 10 per person...!?"
"Boy. --I've just witnessed your true power."
"Wait, Kadras. Don't give in. I'm shaken too, but it's too early to admit defeat."
"This is the best adventurer in Karditsa, except for the dungeon maniacs..."
Toxy's face turned bright red in confusion. Kadras surrendered. Frain looked at me with a threatening gaze. And Sylvia was just overwhelmed.
Phew, that was close. I was almost looked down upon due to the situation. I won. That was close.
And finally, everyone's attention naturally turned to Sylvia.
Sylvia said with a very disgusted look on her face.
"...I don't want to introduce myself after that overly intense introduction."
"Hey, it's okay! It's just Wade who's overly intense!"
"Well, maybe that's true."
Toxy's words cheered Sylvia up. Hmm, so I'm overly intense, am I...
Sylvia took a breath and introduced herself.
"I'm Sylvia. I use iron magic. I was about to be turned into a puppet by a Puppet Master who treated me as an illegal sl*ve, but I escaped and was rescued by Frain and Kadras."
"Can't you read the atmosphere, Sylvia?"
"Lady, now's the time to say something punchy while having a lively atmosphere. Don't say anything too serious, okay?"
The freezing tension in the air was shattered in an instant by Frain and Kadras' merciless disses, and that was the highlight of this time.
