Chapter 49 Reward For Clearing
In the Abyss Wood dungeon, I successfully helped the ancient hero, Ain-san, find peace.
"Well then, let's destroy the dungeon core and claim our reward before we escape."
Comet Witch Mercury says while gazing at the large crystal before us.
It's about the same height as me.
This is the dungeon core. By destroying it, the heart of the dungeon, we can clear it.
"Are we really going to get a reward?"
"Yes. When you destroy the core, the person receives the power they need the most, such as abilities, skills, incredible items, or artifacts. That's the reward."
So that's how it works...
"I'm good. Tai-chan or Mercury-san, please destroy it."
"Huh!? No, no, Leaf-kun defeated it!"
I might have been the one who defeated it.
But...
"I didn't clear the dungeon because I wanted a reward."
"I'll pass too. Shouldn't Mercury-jou take the reward?"
"Yes, please, go ahead, Mercury-san."
Mercury-san looked apologetic.
"But, without Leaf-kun, we wouldn't have been able to clear it."
She's quite hesitant. She's a really nice person, but I still want Mercury-san to take it.

Then Tai-chan spoke up.
"Mercury-jou, sorry to say, but you're the weakest in this party. It's better to strengthen yourself, especially if you're going to be partners with my Lord."

Mercury-san's face turned bright red as she headed towards the dungeon core.

It created a sky full of light, and soon, the light entered Mercury-san's body.

"Yeah... it seems like my Appraisal ability got stronger. I got the [Super Appraisal] skill. Also, my magic power increased, and I got the [Cast Cancel] skill. Oh, and the [Concealment] skill too."
Super Appraisal is like an advanced version of Appraisal. It seems she can now understand not only objects but also the timing of attacks. Amazing.
Cast Cancel means you can use any magic without needing to chant a spell, instantly. That's really awesome!
Concealment skill is about blocking your presence so enemies can't find you. Super cool!
"You're amazing, Mercury-san!"
"Thank you, Leaf-kun... But even though I've gotten this strong, I don't feel like I can compare to you at all..."
Tai-chan said, taking a breath.
"Still, getting stronger must mean you can be with my Lord now, right? Until now, you were just a walking Appraisal device."

Mercury-san sighed heavily.
Well, anyway, we cleared it with this.
"Shall we go back?"
A magic circle of light appeared on the ground where the dungeon core was.
This is a teleportation gate, a device that teleports us back to the entrance.
As we step onto the teleportation gate...
Shing! The magic circle shines brightly.
The dungeon shakes, and the ceiling and floor start to crumble...
"The dungeon is falling apart."
"It's kind of sad, isn't it?"
"Yeah... but just because the dungeon is gone doesn't mean the tombs will disappear."
"Yes, with this... the souls of the dead can rest peacefully, right?"
Shinggg! As the teleportation light shimmered, we momentarily lost consciousness.
But soon after, when we woke up...
"Leaf-sama!"
"Eileen-san"
There stood Eileen-san, who had been acting as the acting lord.
She rushed over to me and hugged me tightly.
Oof. B-big breasts….
"I'm glad you're okay... I was so, so worried... Are you hurt?"
Drip, drip... I felt something warm on my shoulder.
Looking down, I saw she was crying.
She had been worried about us. Maybe she felt guilty for sending us to a dangerous place.
But she shouldn't worry about that; she's a kind person.
"We're fine! And we cleared the dungeon!"
When I looked back, the shrine at the entrance had shrunk a bit.
Maybe the dungeon had been lifted, and it had turned back into the entrance of the original tomb.
"You're amazing, Leaf-sama! Not only did you conquer that impregnable dungeon, but you also saved the wandering souls...! That's truly incredible!!"
Eileen-san hugged me tightly...
Mwah...♡ She kissed my forehead.
"Hey, hey, hey, w-w-what are you doing!"
Mercury-san pulled me away from Eileen-san.
"What are you doing, you shotacon!"
"Huh? Who's the shotacon here? You're planning something dirty with this innocent boy at home, aren't you?"
"N-n-no, I'm not planning anything like that!"
The two of them bickered back and forth. As I watched them argue, I looked up at the sky.
And so, after a long journey, we safely completed the dungeon conquest.
