Chapter 18 [SIDE Teti Harmit] The Feelings of the Beast Girl Teti

Chapter 18 [Side Teti Harmit] The Feelings Of The Beast Girl Teti

 "Ouch... haa...!"

 My head is spinning.

There's a pain in my chest. It feels like someone is gripping my heart.

 "Teti, are you in pain?"

 "I'm okay... I know I need Archbishop's treatment."

In a room in the church.

Today, I'm receiving treatment from Archbishop Klaus.

As Archbishop Klaus lowers his hand from my head, his hand, which was faintly glowing purple, returns to normal.

"It may still be painful, but please endure it. Just hold on until tomorrow."

 "I understand..."

"You're doing great, Teti. Tomorrow, you and your companions will finally be saved."

 Tomorrow.

 Yes, tomorrow...

For me, it was a very special day.

"Teti, tomorrow you will turn 10. Your beastman blood will awaken."

"...If I do that, can a medicine be made to save everyone in the village using my blood?"

"That's right. But there's no need to be scared. It's just a small amount of blood that needs to be taken."

Archbishop Klaus said softly with a gentle smile.

His smile seemed bottomless, and I didn't particularly like it.

--About two months ago, a mysterious illness spread in the beastmen village, my hometown.

All my friends in the village fell ill, and I was no exception.

That's when Archbishop Klaus appeared before me.

Although he couldn't completely cure the illness, Archbishop Klaus used his Job ability to suppress the progression of the beastmen tribe's illness.

Earlier, I had the same thing done to me.

It seems that this person's Job ability is to heal diseases and injuries.

One day, Archbishop Klaus, who had stayed in the village, said, "I have found a way to eradicate the disease."

A medicine for the illness can be made using the blood of the beastmen race.

And so, I volunteered to save everyone in the village.

There were a few reasons for this. Archbishop Klaus mentioned that the blood right after the beastmen awakened was most suitable for medicine, and I happened to be the closest to the awakening age requirement.

--But more than that, I wanted to save everyone in the village.

And then, I ended up moving to the Holy Church in the capital city of Ridale where Archbishop Klaus resided.

The room I was assigned was like a storage room, definitely not a comfortable environment.

I was not given proper meals and sometimes had to work as a servant late at night.

 However, none of that mattered.

If it meant saving everyone in the village, I could endure this much.

The doubts and fears about whether he would really make the medicine disappeared strangely after coming to the church.

Maybe it was because I was given an iron collar that supposedly slows down the progression of the illness.

 "Then, Teti. See you tonight."

 "Yes, Archbishop."

Archbishop Klaus left the room, leaving me with only the necessary words.

 --Slam

Alone now, I lay down with a thud.

It wasn't a bed, more like a hard makeshift bed made of stones.

Even after Archbishop Klaus's treatment, my body still felt heavy.

 "..."

I recalled and reached into my tattered clothes, pulling out a piece of paper.

Given to me by a stranger whose name I didn't know, that paper had become more of a support to me than Archbishop Klaus's treatment or the healing iron ring around my neck.

--That's a meal voucher for my tavern, the Silver Apple Inn. You should come by sometime. I'll make sure you eat your fill.

As I remembered the words of the person who handed me the paper, the pain in my body eased slightly.

"Was it the Silver Apple Inn...?"

At that time, I wondered why he would do such a thing to a beastman he happened to meet, but maybe it was just normal for that person.

After all, the person in the black clothes had such pure and beautiful eyes.

I felt the person's kindness in the meal voucher handed to me, and as I looked at it, my heart was filled with a warm feeling.

"When this is all over, I'll definitely go see that person. Thanks to his kindness back then, I was able to do my best. I'll go and thank him like that."

With those thoughts in my heart, I drifted off into a light sleep.

 And then, at night...

As the date changed, Archbishop Klaus came to my room.
