Volume 4 Chapter 7 The Potion Master Exiled from the The Black Alchemist Guild V
Shawn, the potion master, had joined Act's Guild.
The Guildmaster who kicked him out, Bakuman, was now in a PICKLE.
In the Guildmaster's room.
"Damn it...! Returns, refunds... compensation payments... we're drowning in debt!"
Bakuman's Guild, Jewel of Honor, was in dire straits.
Since Shawn left, the quality of the potions the Guild produced plummeted.
As a result, they were hit with a storm of complaints.
Compensation claims were pouring in daily, and they were even becoming a laughingstock among their clients.
Bakuman had bowed his head to Shawn in a plea, but Shawn wouldn't lend an ear.
He was out of options.
Now, they were saddled with huge debts and stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Debt collectors visited the Guild daily, shouting for their money back.
For now, they could manage, but if things escalated, it could even become a matter of life and death.
"What should I do...? Is it time to hang myself...?"
And then, at that moment.
"That's a bit premature."
Looking towards the voice, there stood the black-haired Guildmaster, Act Age, with his arms crossed.
"Wh-Who are you!? What business do you have in my Guild!? Outsiders aren't welcome!"
Bakuman shouted, but Act showed no sign of disturbance on his face.
Snorting, Act looked down on Bakuman as he spoke.
"Outsider? You're mistaken. This is my Guild."
"Wh-What do you mean!? This is my Guild!"
Snorting again, Act continued.
"Hey Shawn. Show this foolish man."
"...Ah, um... okay..."
"Shawn!? What are you doing here...? So, after being expelled, you joined Act's Guild!?"
Hiding in Act's shadow was the timid young man, Shawn.
It seemed Shawn had been called over as Act's assistant.
Shawn pulled out a parchment from his pouch and showed it to Bakuman.
"W-What is this Guild's deed!?"
"Yes, it's the deed you submitted as collateral when you borrowed money from the lender."
"W-Why do you have it!?"
"I bought it. You seem unable to repay the money within the contract period."
"Ugh...! I-I was going to pay it back!"
"I doubt that. At least, your credit from the financial institution was 0. You looked very pleased when I bought it for a high price."
Act grinned.
As expected of someone called the Villainous Guildmaster, his smile looked wicked.
"G-Give it back! The deed!"
Bakuman tries to snatch the document from Shawn.
Startled, Shawn flinches, but Act steps in front of him.
Just one glare from him made Bakuman feel overwhelmed.
His gaze was so intense, it felt like he was staring down a predator.
"Don't be foolish. I am the owner of this deed. In other words... I hold the power of life and death over this Guild and you. Is it wise to speak like that...?"
Act takes the deed from Shawn and smirks as he speaks.
"Everything in your Guild is now in my hands. What do you think will happen if you defy me?"
"D-Damn it...!"
Even if he wanted to stand strong, the other party held the Guild's deed.
This meant Act had taken everything from him.
If Act says he's fired, even Bakuman, the Guildmaster, could be kicked out.
"Now then... Bakuman. I'm not a monster. Depending on the conditions, I might just give the Guild back to you."
"W-What!? Is that true?!"
"Yes, of course."
"Tell me the conditions! I'll do anything I can!"
"I see. Then I will say it."
Act grins widely as he speaks.
"I'll return the deed to you. But, Bakuman, you must leave the Guild."
...For a moment, he couldn't understand what Act was saying.
Shawn felt the same way.
"Uh, um... what does that mean?"
Act nods and replies.
"The Guild is now mine, Act Age's property. That means rights are given to outside humans. But if Bakuman agrees to this deal, at least the ownership document will go to the humans inside. No one will be able to sell the Guild without permission."
Sure enough, Shawn agrees.
But one person suddenly explodes with dissatisfaction.
"You, you're talking nonsense!"
Of course, it's Bakuman, the top of this Guild.
"Jewel of Honor! This is my Guild! Why should the top leave? Don't joke around!"
He tries to grab Act, but Act gracefully dodges it.
As Bakuman collapses in a ridiculous way, Act looks down and says.
"I'm not joking. If you care about the Guild, accepting this deal is best. Instead of letting this villainous Guildmaster hold the rights, it's better to pass them to the Guild members."
"But! But this Guild is mine!"
"Hmph. Fool. You only failed because you hold such foolish ideas, don't you think?"
