Volume 4 Chapter 13 The Villainous Guildmaster, Tempting a Youngster from the Countryside V
Yaboy came to the Guild of Act Age, called Gem of Heavenly Gift.
After greeting Madame Grijo, the Town Mayor, the two headed to the Guild.
"You will work for real this afternoon."
"Yes-ssu! Got it-ssu!"
Yaboy looked at the black-haired Guildmaster ahead, his heart filled with EXCITEMENT.
He had come from the countryside to become a villain.
Act Age.
A great villain.
He admired such a figure and came to the city.
(Finally, I will work under Mr. Act! What kind of evil deeds will it be? Kuku, but I've decided. I will become BIG, no matter if it's bad or not; I will do it!)
...Yaboy was making a TERRIBLE misunderstanding.
And of course, the Guildmaster, with his foresight, must have noticed.
Soon, they returned to Gem of Heavenly Gift.
"Welcome back, Sir Act!"
The one greeting them was his disciple, Yui.
Act and Yaboy went to the reception counter deep inside the Guild.
"Yaboy. I'm giving you work."
"Yes-ssu! Leave it to me-ssu! I will GLADLY do any job!"
Yaboy was full of motivation.
Meanwhile, Act smirked, showing a wicked grin.
"You won't take that back, right?"
"Of course-ssu! Anything Mr. Act gives me, I will do it ALL!"
Act nodded and then looked at Yui.
She went inside and returned with a lot of papers in her arms.
With a thud, a mountain of papers was placed on the counter.
"Clean this up. By today."
"Huh...?"
Yaboy said with a silly face.
The papers seemed to have NOTHING to do with any evil deeds.
They were papers about the Guild's income and expenses.
"First, check this paperwork for any mistakes. If there are errors, fix them."
"Y-yes..."
This job for a big bad guy was surprisingly plain.
I thought they would give me a more exciting, blood-splattering job...
"What's wrong, not happy?"
Act looked at Yaboy like he was testing him.
He understood.
(I see... you're TESTING me, Mr. Act! You want to know how far I can go!)
Evil deeds should stay hidden.
You can't trust just anyone for this work.
"So you're testing my abilities!?"
"That's right."
"I knew it! Got it! This Yaboy will check these papers with my FULL power!"
Yaboy sat down and quickly started checking the numbers.
"Uh, um... Sir Act. Is that okay?"
Yui cautiously asked.
"You're letting him handle all those papers alone? That's a job for MULTIPLE people over days!"
"Just watch."
Act crossed his arms and waited for Yaboy to finish.
Yui nervously thought about helping Yaboy.
Yaboy moved his eyes and hands at AMAZING speed, going through the pile of papers.
In less than an hour...
"All done-ssu! Please check it!"
With a smile, Yaboy submitted the papers.
Yui stared wide-eyed and said,
"W-wait, you REALLY finished all of it...?"
"Of course, sis!"
Yui glanced nervously at Act.
He silently nodded.
As she flipped through the papers, she saw the parts Yaboy corrected in red.
"No way..."
As each page turned, Yui's eyes widened.
Yes, everything was calculated PERFECTLY.
The red parts did have calculation errors.
Yui was speechless, and Act smirked.
"So, how about it, Mr. Act? I'm useful, right-ssu?"
"Not yet. You need more. Hey, Yui. Bring the rest of the papers. All of Q1."
"Ah, Sir Act... that's TOO much..."
A quarter means 3 months' work.
That's definitely not a job for just one person.
But Yui just saw Yaboy's amazing calculation skill.
"Leave it to me, sis! I can do ANYTHING! Please show me to the library!"
"I-I understand..."
Yaboy leaves the counter with Yui.
"Impressive, Master."
"Frederica, you were here?"
"Yes, I have ALWAYS been here."
Frederica picks up the document Yaboy corrected.
"Such terrible speed and accuracy in calculations. He looks so foolish, yet..."
"It's not just about how much knowledge someone has. He just doesn't realize his own ability. He's actually quite SMART. He proved that even at the restaurant."
Frederica nods in understanding.
"As expected of the Master. You see right through any raw talent and guide it in the right direction... But are you sure about this?"
"Sure about what?"
"That boy seems to be quite confused..."
Frederica also feels something off about his actions.
But Act says.
"Yeah. He wants to become a villain's apprentice and climb the ranks."
"...What a rude guy. Can I bite him?"
Frederica was DISPLEASED to hear Act, her master, thought that way.
Act may seem like a bad guy on the surface, but he is kinder than anyone.
Frederica couldn't forgive Yaboy for misunderstanding Act.
But on the other hand, Act calmly speaks.
"No. He is useful."
"...Hmm."
"Are you unhappy about that?"
"...Let's settle this later with some tail brushing."
"Do as you wish."
Flap flap, Frederica shakes the dog tail she magically made.
"Sorry for him, but he will train as my assistant. One day, I'll make him capable enough to handle individual accounts."
"Oh my. Master, you ignore what others want and only raise him for your own convenience. What a BAD person you are!"
Frederica giggles.
"As expected. You guide him to a better job than being a villain."
"Don't get the wrong idea. He's just sharpening his talent for me."
"Yes, yes. Really, I wonder why anyone thinks you're a bad guy when you're so KIND."
Frederica smiled and said this, but Act just snorted with disinterest and left the scene.
