Volume 3 Chapter 18 The Guildmaster and the Useless Dog Maid's Little Trip I
One day, in the Guildmaster's Room of Guild [Gem of Heavenly Gift].
"Well then, I'll take a few days off with paid leave."
Frederica submits her leave request to me.
She plans to take 3 days off.
Not just for Guild Members—this Guild offers salaries and paid holidays.
It's a basic right for the Guild Members, and how they use it is up to them.
I stamp my approval and hand it back.
"How do you plan to spend your time off?"
"I haven't decided yet. I might just relax... by the way..."
With a bounce, dog ears and a tail pop out from Frederica's head and bottom.
"Master... would you like to go on a trip with me...?"
"What?"
Frederica blushes and speaks shyly.
"Um... I thought you might need a break too... so a trip together would be fun...! Ah! Forget what I said, it was a joke!"
She shakes her head, face bright red.
"Hmm. That sounds good."
"............huh?"
Frederica stands there, mouth hanging open in shock.
"Ah, haha! You're mistaken! You can't be saying you want to go on a trip with me, right?"
"I said it. We're going on a trip together."
"Wh-what!?"
Whoosh!
Her dog tail and ears perk up.
"Ah, o-okay! It must be that all the Guild Members will come with us, right? And you didn't say just the two of us, right, right!?"
"Nope."
Frederica gasps, her eyes wide open.
"What's with that face?"
Frederica rushes closer and puts her hand on my forehead.
"You don't seem to have a fever."
"That's rude, you know?"
I swat Frederica's hand away.
"Th-That's such a silly idea... Master, who never lets anyone else catch up because of his dullness, actually agreeing to go on a date with me... and it's an overnight stay..."
"What? You don't like it?"
Thump!
Frederica swings her club to the side with force.
"I do like it! Heehee♡ Uhehehehehehe♡"
With a wild smile, Frederica spins around in place.
"A trip with Master♡ Just the two of us on a trip♡ Ahh! It's the best day of my life!"
Then—
Creak! The door to my room opens.
"Excuse me, Guildmaster."
"Katrina? What's up?"
The head receptionist comes over to me.
"I've brought the decision document, but... what's going on here?"
Bouncing up and down, Frederica shows a beaming smile.
I take the document and say while stamping it:
"I'm going to be away with her for 3 days."
"Is it work?"
"I-It's not! It's private!"
Frederica says to Katrina with a smile.
Katrina widens her eyes, then smiles.
"Hey, that's nice, isn't it?"
"Yes! Heehee... it's the best day of my life! A date with the Guildmaster, just the two of us! And it's an overnight date! Whoa~♪"
She's so happy that she doesn't even try to hide her tail, even in front of others.
"Frederica, this is strictly between us."
"Right. The Guildmaster is very popular, so if the Guild Members find out, they'll all want to join in. That's why the Guildmaster doesn't spend private time one-on-one."
"Yes! I understand~♪ I'll get ready!"
With a cheerful mood, the mischievous dog leaves.
Sigh, what a hassle.
"Guildmaster, why are you going on a trip with Frederica?"
Katrina asks, tilting her head.
"It's a mix of candy and the stick."
"...I see. Frederica, you've worked hard."
It seems Katrina immediately understood my words.
While waiting for the Guild Hall to be ready, Frederica worked hard and achieved more than expected.
"You know, I should give a reward to a good dog."
"But didn't you already give a reward with a kiss?"
...That useless dog.
It spread the news to anyone who would listen.
Seriously.
"Hehe, as expected of the Guildmaster. Giving a proper reward to a hardworking subordinate♡"
"Hmph. Don't get the wrong idea. I'm giving that useless dog a treat here to make it work harder for me."
"Okay, okay, let's stick with that."
Katrina chuckled softly.
"By the way... Guildmaster, I feel like I've worked hard too?"
She glanced over with hopeful eyes.
"Next time."

I sighed and stood up.
Katrina helped me put on my coat.
"That girl will definitely spread the word about going out with the Guildmaster."
"I guess so."
"Oh, you know? Is it because you used the Eye of the Time King?"
"I can tell without using it."
Of course, Katrina laughed happily.
Since we had plans to go out, I left the Room with Katrina.
"I'll be gone for 3 days, but can I leave the rest to you?"
"Yes, no problem at all. Yui-Yui is here, and Rozelia seems to be taking her role as an officer more seriously and is working well."
What happened in the Royal Capital didn't only help Frederica grow.
By having Katrina assist me, she grew too, and Yui became even more reliable.

"Frederica's big sis is going on an overnight date!"

Then, Frederica claps her hands with a pat-pat.
"Everyone, calm down."
"Big sister!"
Frederica pushes through the crowd and comes over to me.
"Master... you wish to travel alone with me. Yes, this is... a Guildmaster's Order. No one is allowed to interfere."
Frederica says this with her face all flustered.
"Grr...! How nice...!"
Katrina holds her head as if to suppress a headache.
"Ah, I want to spend private time with the Guildmaster too!"
"I also want to go on a date alone..."
To the disheartened Guild Members, I speak up.
"I didn't say no one could."
"!?!?!?"
The Guild Members' eyes pop open with a Gulp!
"But I'm not about to give rewards to slackers. You get what I mean?"
A fire of determination lights up in the Guild Members' eyes.
"Woooh! We got a challenge!"
"Does that mean we can date the Guildmaster if we try hard!?"
"Alright! I'm feeling motivated now!"
The Guild Members raise their voices.
Thank goodness they're simple-minded.
"...As expected of the Guildmaster. To boost the members' morale with just one word. But... is it really okay to make such a promise?"
Katrina whispers worriedly to me.
"Of course. I keep my promises."
"...I see. Then, please keep your promise with me too."
With a wink, Katrina gives a playful nod.
And so, I ended up going on a little trip with a useless maid.
