Vivre, former aide to the Demon King's Four Heavenly Kings, was being taken care of by Act Age.
In the Royal Capital, at the Hero Party's training facility.
Specifically, in the infirmary.
"Mmmph... Mr. Act..."
Sitting up in bed, Vivre was scarfing down the food on the table.
She'd been knocked away by Iliga, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the North Wall, and had been unconscious in the forest for days.
The first thing she felt when she woke up was an intense hunger.
"Not only did you heal my injuries, but you're feeding me too... snif, I'm so grateful～..."
"Don't get the wrong idea. It's not for your sake."
Even though he said that, Act was being kind to her, and Vivre felt deep gratitude and affection for the young man.

She'd never been treated kindly by anyone other than the previous Demon King.
So, being treated kindly by Act made her heart flutter.
"By the way, what were you doing in that kind of forest?"
"Ugh! Cough, cough... Uh, um... Uuuuh..."
Vivre thought.
What would happen if she told the truth?
That she was a demon, and that she'd been banished after incurring the Demon King's Four Heavenly Kings' displeasure.

A demon, an enemy of Humans, and this was Human territory.
...She'd be killed!
Vivre trembled, terrified.
"Um... well, I got fired from my previous place... and then... I was almost killed by my boss..."
Act stared into Vivre's eyes...
She felt like he could see right through her.
Could he tell she was lying...?
"I see. That's quite a misfortune."
Whew... Vivre let out a sigh of relief.
"What will you do from now on?"
"...Honestly, I don't know what to do."
She'd been kicked out of her home, and she had no companions in this enemy territory.
In a situation where there was no one to rely on, how was I supposed to survive?
"If you have nowhere to go, why not come to my place?"
"To your place... Mr. Act?"
"Yeah. I'm the Guildmaster at the Adventurers Guild. You could become an Adventurer too."
Money was absolutely necessary for survival.
Becoming an Adventurer would not only provide status but also work, making it an offer I couldn't refuse at this point in my life.
"...I'm so happy. But I... I'm just a useless nobody. Even if I joined, I'd just be a burden to you and the other Adventurers..."
After being belittled as a flawed demon, Vivre had completely lost confidence.
Images of the Four Kings who had mocked her, Iliga and the new aide, Tzuqaine, flashed through her mind with their scornful expressions.
"Who decided you were useless?"
"Huh...?"
But Act was different.
His golden eyes were clear and unwavering, meeting Vivre's gaze head-on.
"W-who decided... I've always been told I'm worthless and incompetent..."
"That's ridiculous. Why would you limit yourself by accepting such nonsense?"
Act looked deeply into Vivre's eyes, seriousness etched on his face.
"Everyone has a talent bestowed upon them by the heavens. You are no exception."
"Talent... could I really have...?"
"Absolutely. You possess a remarkable talent hidden within you. If you come to my side, I can help you bring it out."
Act gently ruffled Vivre's hair.
"You are indeed not useless. So, lift your head. Look forward."
Slowly, tears welled up in Vivre's eyes.
"N-no one has ever... said such things to me... u-uuuuaaaah!"
She threw her arms around Act, bursting into tears.
"I'm so happy! I can't believe how happy I am!"
"So, what's your next move?"
Pulling away, he wiped his eyes with a sniffle.
"I'll work under you, Mr. Act!"

The scene shifted, and they found themselves at the grounds.
"Um, Mr. Act, what are we doing?"
"I'm going to lift the [seal] that has been placed on you."
"Seal? What's that supposed to mean?"
Just then, Luna, the healer of the Hero Party, arrived on the scene.
"Guildmaster. Sorry to keep you waiting!"
"I apologize for summoning you on short notice."
"No big deal! It's your request, Guildmaster. I'd rush over from the other side of the world if you called! So, what's the matter?"
Act pointed to Vivre.
"This one is under the [Demon King's Sealing Curse]."
"Wait, the Demon King's Sealing Curse...? I've heard that's an ultra-powerful sealing magic that sealed a legendary evil god ages ago!"
Vivre's eyes widened in shock.
"N-no way... I have such a ridiculous curse placed on me?"
"Yeah."
"That's... insane! But is it really possible...?"
"What's wrong? Do you doubt my words?"
"N-no! Nothing like that!"
"If the seal is lifted, you'll be able to unleash the tremendous power you have hidden inside. Don't worry, trust me."
As she looked into Act's confident eyes, her earlier doubts began to fade away.
"...I still can't quite believe in myself. But... if it's what Mr. Act says, I'll trust that."
"Alright. Luna, go ahead."
Nodding firmly, Luna raised her hands.
"Ah, but how are you planning to lift the curse?"
"With Heal."
"H-Huh? Heal!?"
Vivre could hardly believe her ears at that unexpected response.
"W-wait... but Heal is just basic Healing Magic, right?"
"That's right."
"N-no, no! I'm talking about a sealing spell powerful enough to bind an evil god! There's no way it can be cured with Heal!"
"[Heal]"
Just then, it happened.
"Ugh, gggghhhhh! My body! It's sooooo HOT!"
A jet-black light erupted from Vivre's body.
Upon closer inspection, it was the black chains binding her.
Her body was entangled in chains, which were being held by a grim reaper that appeared above her.
"Hmm, so this is the true form of the Demon King's Sealing Curse. It kills the target when you try to unseal it, huh?"
"Luna. Can you handle this?"
