Volume 2 Chapter 53 The Villainous Guildmaster, Encouraging the Great Hero

That night, after the Guildmaster Act had defeated the Evil God Dostoevsky.

The Demon Dragon Vivre suddenly woke up.

 "Hmm... is it already night?"

 She looked around.

This place was a tavern on the northern wall.

They were having a victory party because they had defeated Jacky, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, so it went on late into the night.

"Whoa, I drank a lot... It's been a while... yawn..."

The Hero Party members were all drunk and sleeping.

 Their expressions were cheerful.

It was no wonder, since they had just taken down one of the Four Heavenly Kings.

Starting with the Great Hero, everyone had powered up.

Half of the Four Heavenly Kings were left.

They were starting to feel like they could do it...!

 "......"

 But Vivre couldn't feel excited.

The reason was clear and simple.

They had learned about strong enemies that might even surpass the Demon King.

"The Evil God... Dostoevsky. A god that can stop time... that's bad news..."

After defeating Jacky, Dostoevsky had attacked.

Thankfully, Act was there, or things would have been worse.

...If Act hadn't been there, not only would they have lost, but humanity itself would have been defeated too.

The Hero Party didn't know this fact.

Only Act and Vivre knew about the battle in the stopped time.

 "...Will it be okay, though?"

It was natural for her to feel anxious.

It only ends in stories when they defeat the Demon King.

Vivre and the others needed to defeat not just the Demon King but that Evil God too.

"Mr. Lawrence can do it... but..."

Even the Great Hero, who had never lost, couldn't move in that stopped time.

 ...Worry crossed her mind.

What if, when time stopped again, the Evil God attacked Lawrence, the hope of humanity...?

 And then, it happened.

"...Huh? Mr. Lawrence? Where are you?"

Hero Lawrence was nowhere to be seen.

 She stepped outside the town.

But it was close to dawn, and no one was walking around.

"Hmm...? Is that the sound of wind...?"

 She followed the faint sound.

In the form of a Demon Dragon, she flew through the sky, reaching a spot not far from the north wall.

 "Ha! Hu! Hoo!"

There was Lawrence, drenched in sweat, practicing with a wooden sword.

"Oh! Vivre! Sorry, was I being loud?"

"Ah, no... not really. Um... what are you doing?"

 "......"

For someone who always smiled, it was rare to see Lawrence with a bitter expression.

He faced forward and resumed his practice.

"I am training to correct my own shortcomings."

 "Shortcomings? Did something happen?"

 "Yeah. Something must have happened."

Lawrence looked at her with just his eyes.

...She had a feeling about it.

No, but... she denied it in her mind.

The Great Hero was referring to what had happened while time was stopped.

 But that was impossible.

At that moment, only Act with the Eye of the Time King and Vivre, the weapon against the Great Hero, could move.

There was no way Lawrence knew what had happened back then.

 "...Something did happen."

 "Ah..."

Then it dawned on her──Lawrence was fishing for information.

 "Oh, no... um..."

"Mr. Act looked strange. He never shows us his weak side... Something must have really happened."

Lawrence stopped practicing and looked into her eyes.

"Can you tell me what happened?"

 "......"

 She couldn't say anything.

She couldn't tell him that an Evil God who could stop time existed.

She had made a promise with Act.

If she told them, their morale would drop, and she wouldn't want them to worry unnecessarily.

 "...It's a serious situation that I can't even say."

 "Ah! N-no, that's not..."

Vivre slowly realized that whether she said it or not, she was making Lawrence anxious.

 Then, at that moment...

 "What are you all doing?"

 "...Mr. Act."

The black-haired Guildmaster, Act Age, approached Vivre and Lawrence.

"It's noisy at this dawn. You're bothering the neighbors."

 "I'm sorry..."

Lawrence looked unusually down.

Vivre's words probably made him feel uneasy.

"Mr. Act, what happened after the Jacky battle?"

Vivre glanced at the young man.

He looked at the Demon Dragon and sighed, "Huff..."

"I encountered an Evil God that can stop time. I drove it away."

"An Evil God that can stop time..."

Lawrence's eyes widened as he muttered in shock.

 "Something like that... exists?"

Vivre regretted her own failure.

Because of her, she had made Lawrence doubt.

As a result, she forced Act to reveal the hidden truth.

"Ah, yes. He stopped time. He tried to use a small bomb in that state. If I hadn't been there, the world would have ended."

Act's eyes fixed on the downcast Lawrence.

"...It's shameful, even with a Hero (me) here."
