Volume 2 Chapter 53-2 The Villainous Guildmaster, Encouraging the Great Hero
Vivre was shocked.
That man, who always laughed and faced challenges, was seriously down.
Meanwhile, Act snorted.
"Exactly. Honestly, you're here, yet what a lazy situation."
"...! Mr. Act, that's...!"
Act shot a cold remark.
Vivre felt a flash of anger but quickly realized.
...Yes, Act never did anything pointless.
He wouldn't even kick someone when they were down.
"Lawrence. Get your wooden sword ready."
Whoosh...!
Act threw his coat at Vivre.
"...oh."
Lawrence quietly raised his sword, just as he was told.
"So, this is a mock battle? What's the point?"
"Just watch."
Vivre knew Lawrence's strength.
Act certainly had extraordinary combat strength, but in a direct fight, the Hero would have the advantage with a weapon.
Everyone there understood that.
Still, he was facing Lawrence.
Vivre and Lawrence sensed there was more meaning behind this.
"Bring it on."
"......"
Lawrence took a deep breath.
Opening his eyes, he tensed his muscles.
"YAHHHHHH!"
A mighty blow aimed straight at Act's head.
But...
Thud...!
Lawrence's body froze.
"This is... time stop."
It was one of Act's abilities.
A special move that halted the opponent's internal time, sealing their movements.
"Ugh...!"
"What's wrong, is this all you can do?"
"Guh...!"
Lawrence struggled to move.
"You... you can't, Mr. Lawrence! Your body's time is stopped. There's no way you can move... Just give up!"
"Guh...!"
Though his body was trapped, Lawrence refused to give up.
With the golden Eye of the Time King, Act stared coldly.
"Seems like a waste of time. Looks like I have to return to your party after all."
Hmph, Act snorted.
"Well... y-yes, if we have Mr. Act's Unique Time Acceleration, even if the Evil God stops time, we'll be fine... Don't worry... But..."
"NO! I DON'T... NEED IT!"
Fire blazed in Lawrence's eyes.
"Mr. Act... I understand everything!"
In that moment, Lawrence's eyes turned golden... the same color as Act's.
"I'm... such an idiot... I can... remember who... I am..."
Lawrence took a step forward.
"Mr. Lawrence! Y-your foot...!"
"I am... the Hero! My job is... to cut through the darkness, to wipe out evil... to create a path of hope..."
Step by step, Lawrence started to move.
He should have been frozen in time by the power of time stop, but...
"Until the day I bring peace to humanity... I CAN NEVER STOP MOVING!"
Lawrence fully moved and swung his wooden sword towards Act.
Act didn't move.
The sword swung down right in front of him.
"Mr. Act...! It's dangerous...!"
Act didn't even flinch.
Meanwhile, Lawrence, sword in hand, fell forward in a big heap.
"Ugh...! Ah...! Is... is this... okay...?"
"Yes. It worked. You mimicked [Unique Time Acceleration]."
Vivre ran over to Lawrence.
"Th-that Unique Time Acceleration... is that Mr. Act's technique?"
"Yes... it is. Vivre... you gave me the hint. When time stopped, Mr. Act used Unique Time Acceleration to move."
That's right—during the conversation with Vivre earlier, Lawrence had found the perfect solution against time stop.
"No... it's a secret technique that requires the Eye of the Time King... to replicate it with your own body... that's just crazy..."
Act took the upper garment from Vivre and threw it at Lawrence.
"Don't be ridiculous. You wore it so you wouldn't catch a cold, right?"
"Don't get it wrong. If you catch a cold, it will take longer to defeat the Demon King. That would be a waste."
Act turned away and left Lawrence.
"...Thank you, Mr. Act. You really cheered me up."
Lawrence knew.
This Guildmaster was very kind.
But he never threw kind words around.
Kindness and sweetness were different.
He didn't comfort with soft words.
That would be weakness.
Act gave a solution to the Evil God without words, and... encouraged the Hero.
"What a big misunderstanding. I just kicked my useless student in the back."
Lawrence and Vivre both chuckled.
"Really, you're such a clumsy person."
"Yeah, but... you're the best Guildmaster."
Lawrence forced himself to stand up.
There was not a hint of doubt.
The Great Hero summoned the holy sword.
It was an ancient Hero's treasure he got from the underground dungeon, Seventh Fall.
"Mr. Act, I swear on this sword. I will definitely defeat the Demon King with this blade you helped me forge."
With a thrust, Lawrence pointed the sword forward.
Act glanced at him and looked ahead.
"I see. I'm counting on you."
No more words were needed, and Act walked away.
The Great Hero knew.
Act's "I'm counting on you" was not just flattery.
"Yes! I will do my best! For you...!"
Thus, the Great Hero Lawrence regained his confidence and moved closer to the Demon King Extermination.
