Volume 2 Chapter 48 The Hero, Rush to the Rescue in a Difficult Situation
With the power of Act, the Hero Party had evolved and successfully defeated the Four Heavenly Kings—Jacky.
On the northern plains of the Demon King's territory...
"We did it, Lady Higami!"
The Water Hero, Suigetsu, hugs the leader girl.
"Hey, wait, don't..."
"As expected, Lady Higami is amazing, isn't she? Everyone!"
The Eastern Heroes—Domon, Nikkou, and Mokuren—nod in agreement.
"It's not just me who's incredible. We're still pretty weak if we don't all work together."
In their minds, they all pictured the Great Hero Lawrence and his companions, who possessed unparalleled strength.
Compared to their otherworldly power, they were indeed weaker.
"Even so, we are much stronger than we used to be."
"Yes, Lady Higami! With our increased power, we can surely defeat the Demon King!"
"You guys..."
Their companions' expressions were bright.
Before Act's intervention, the party was lackluster, and the atmosphere was terrible.
Now, everyone was cheerful and united.
"Yeah... with us now, we might just beat him. The Demon King—piece of cake."
She wasn't joking; that's how she felt at the time.
"Oh, wonderful. Just wonderful, everyone."
Clap, clap... Applause suddenly rang out from somewhere.
Shiver...
A chill ran down their spines.
They turned around to see a mysterious man standing there.
"Wh-who are you!?"
Higami draws her sword and readies herself.
...This man hadn't made any noise at all.
It wasn't just Higami; the other Heroes felt it too.
Before the sudden appearance of the Masked Man, they raised their guard to the maximum.
"Greetings, Heroes of the East. I am [Evil God Dostoevsky]. Remember me from now on."
"Evil God...? You mean the powerful demon god from myth, who caused chaos in ancient times, right?"
"Oh, you know a lot!"
I can't be sure if the man in front of me is truly the evil god from the legends.
But the strong Heroes didn't notice his approach at all.
And even now, the strange aura he gave off wasn't human.
"...Higami, what are we going to do?"
Suigetsu looked to the leader for guidance.
In the past, I would have charged in without a plan.
"...We have to retreat. This future wasn't what that Guildmaster said."
Act Age had the ability to see the future.
If he couldn't foresee this moment, then the appearance of this man was an abnormal situation.
"Suigetsu...!"
"Understood!"
Suigetsu pulled out the Water Sword and stabbed it into the ground.
At that moment, thick fog surrounded them.
"Let's get out of here, you guys!!"
Higami tried to escape with her friends.
But...
Snap. His fingers made a sound.
In that instant, the fog disappeared as if it was never there.
"N-no way..."
"That was a wise decision. I've heard the Fire Hero is hot-headed, but it seems Act Age had a good influence. A wonderful asset indeed."
Facing the calm Dostoevsky, Higami sweated internally.
"Don't be so cautious. I don't intend to harm you."
"Then, why are you here?"
Suddenly, Dostoevsky reached out his hand towards Higami and the others.
"Would you like to join my group?"
"Huh...? Join... you say?"
Higami and the others were taken aback by the sudden proposal.
Dostoevsky continued without caring.
"I, despite my appearance, am the Guildmaster."
"Wow... a weirdo like you is the leader?"
"Yes. I've started the Exiled Guild, offering a helping hand to those who, like you, have faced awful things due to being unjustly cast aside."
...This sounds familiar.
Act Age's stern face flashed in their minds.
"Higami, you did a terrible job chasing Ms. Suigetsu away. How about this? If you join my Guild, I can give you great power!"
A little while ago, I would have jumped at that offer.
But Higami's answer was always the same.
"The answer is... NO!"
She used the power of fire to teleport.
With a flaming sword, she sliced through Dostoevsky's neck.
"Got a good hit...!"
"I see, what a pity."
"Wha...!?"
She thought she cut off his head—but Dostoevsky stood calmly behind her.
"How can you still be standing after my great sword technique, Higami!?"
"What the heck... is he...!?"
Seeing the scared Heroes, Dostoevsky sighed.
"Well, it's fine. If you change your mind, just call me. I'm always here."
"WHO WOULD... JOIN SOMEONE LIKE YOU, A VILLAIN...!"
Higami swung her sword around.
But Dostoevsky didn't dodge.
Even though she must have cut him, he was totally unharmed.
"Now then. Since I don't care about anyone else but you, Higami... let's make you disappear."
Snap!
Dostoevsky snapped his fingers.
In that moment, Jacky—who she thought was down for good—reappeared next to him.
"No way...! Jacky is back!"
"Reviving the dead...!? Ridiculous!"
Jacky wobbled as he stood up.
"Dostoevsky..."
"Hello, Mr. Jacky. Too bad your plan has failed."
Gritting his teeth, Jacky got angry.
"I'm... not beaten!"
Jacky said this to Dostoevsky.
He knew the Demon King's right-hand man would hear about his failure.
"That's right! I'M NOT DEFEATED YET!"
"Yes, exactly. You have a [secret weapon] from the Demon King."
"A secret weapon...?"
Higami and the others got ready for a fight.
Jacky laughed wickedly and pulled out a black sphere from his pocket.
"With this, I can KILL ALL OF YOU!"
But Jacky didn't know how to use the sphere.
"That's a good attitude, Mr. Jacky,"
Dostoevsky took the sphere from him.
"W-What are you doing?! Give it back!"
"You don't know how to use it. Here's how it works..."
The evil god shoved the black sphere right into Jacky's forehead...!
It was buried deep inside.
