Volume 2 Chapter 16-2 Oni Sisters Visit the Rumored Villainous Guildmaster IV
"Hey there, girl. You did a fine job."
"D-don't worry..."
Despite being saved, Bacamus doesn't lower his haughty demeanor.
"So, what do you say? Want to work for me?"
"Eh? What do you..."
"I'm saying, become my exclusive adventurer. Way better than that awful environment you're in with that Villainous Guildmaster, right?"
Kasumi feels insulted at her Guild being spoken so poorly of.
But, she knows arguing is pointless, so she changes her thinking.
"I shall escort you to your manor. Your carriage awaits, so please, follow me."
"Hold on a sec, girl. We're not done talking yet."
Bacamus forcefully grabs Kasumi's hand and says,
"It's way better here than under that awful Guildmaster, you know."
"Wha...!? What are you talking about!?"
"He gathers up a bunch of scoundrels, exploits them with low wages, then discards them as soon as they're used up. The absolute worst Guildmaster there is!"
...Kasumi's anger causes her face to flush.
"He's smart, that one! Finding discarded Guild members and selling them off to other Guilds or merchants for a profit! Such a dirty business! *HEHE...HAHAHA!*"
How cruel of him to say things like that.
But, without knowing the truth, Bacamus' opinion of Act is what he thinks it is.
Without knowing Act's ideals, his actions appear just like Bacamus said: buying cheap and selling high.
That's exactly how his actions look to the outside, like the Villainous Guildmaster he claims to be.
...But she knows the truth.
"You're kidding me...!"
Kasumi shows her true anger.
"That man! He's so kind! He's so good to his subordinates! You don't know anything!"
Kasumi clenches her fist tightly and lunges at Bacamus.
"My Guildmaster! Don't insult him!"
Splat!
But, a bodyguard stops Kasumi's hand.
"Hey! Let me go!"
"Little lady, that's not good. Your opponent is a nobleman! If you hit him... it'll cause trouble for your Guildmaster."
Hah!
Kasumi calms down.
"Well done, you good fellow!"
Bacamus wiped a cold sweat from his brow, but grinned.
"Keep beating her up! Teach that girl what happens when she defies noblemen... *HEEY!*"
The man who had been holding Kasumi's hand released her, and punched Bacamus in the face.
"You bastard... What are you, s-slying..."
The man let out a sigh as he approached Bacamus.
"Hey, you pompous son of a nobleman. I've heard enough now. We owe our lives to little lady. Even if you're a nobleman, you can't get away with this."
"You bastard... You've raised your hand against a nobleman! You'll be fired! Fired!"
"Oh, that's good enough, you moron. We're done here."
"Ugh! Oi you! What are you all just standing there for! Teach this fool a lesson...!"
The remaining guards nodded and clenched their fists.
And then....
"Buugah! Heebubbogeee!"
The guards all pounced on Bacamus, giving him a beating.
"Gahnn..." Bacamus fainted.
"You..."
"[Mr. Pignon], I won't let you take the blame, you know."
Mr. Pignon, the man who had stopped Kasumi's fist, sighed.
"You idiot. You didn't have to beat them up."
The guards chuckled.
"It's okay, Mr. Pignon."
"We've been tired of guarding this guy anyway."
"And besides, he disrespected our savior, little lady."
"We couldn't just let that slide."
Pignon sighed and bowed to Kasumi.
"The idiot caused a nuisance. Sorry."
"Yes, no... I'm the one, sorry. I'm in my place..."
"Ah, it's okay. Little lady doesn't care. It was a good opportunity to quit."
"Here we go," and the guards carry Bacamus into the carriage.
"I'm jealous of little lady. I feel like you're blessed with a good boss."
At the words of Pignon, Kasumi nodded.
But on the other hand, she tilted her head curiously.
"Why...?"
"Well, if our little lady got that furious with a noble, it means she really respects her boss, right? Even I, an outsider, can tell you've got a great boss who's loved by their subordinates."
Pignon smiled and gently patted Kasumi's head.
"You don't have to take a fool's words seriously. Your guild and that guildmaster of yours are amazing. As long as you know your worth, that's all that really matters."
"Y-yes...!"
A smile returned to Kasumi's face.
With a grin, Pignon said,
"But man, we really lost our jobs, huh?"
"Um... if that's the case..."
