The oni sisters had come to visit Guildmaster Act.
The older sister, Kasumi, and the younger sister, Kanaho.
An interview was taking place in the Guildmaster's room.
"Kasumi, you have a talent for being a THIEF."
"A Thief... you say?"
Sitting on the sofa were Kasumi and Kanaho.
"HEY! I'm NOT a thief, big sis!"
"N-No, Kanaho... that's not it. A Thief is a profession; it's different from being a criminal."
"EXACTLY. It's a crucial role for scouting within dungeons, finding traps, and uncovering treasure chests."
Kanaho nodded energetically, "OKAY, that makes sense!"
"I'm sorry, Guildmaster... my sister has been quite rude..."

At that moment, Katrina, the head receptionist, approached with a fresh pot of tea, placing it before Kasumi and Kanaho.

Kasumi had sensed something along those lines.
She realized the notorious villainous Guildmaster before her was NOT the evil person everyone spoke of, but rather a genuinely nice guy.
"Katrina, quit idling around and get back to work."
Even in his cold tone, there was a hint of concern, as if he meant, "It's okay, you can step back."
"YES♡, I'll be off then!"
"Bye-bye, aunty! The cookies were delicious!"
At Kanaho's words, Katrina's expression twitched...!

But then she smiled and left the room.
Act sipped his tea and spoke.

Tears trickled down...

No one had ever treated her like a person before.
But the Guildmaster before her didn't see her as the oni she was; he saw her as an individual.
He respected her, and as a subordinate, he encouraged her.
"STOP crying. It's a waste of time."
Act said, handing her a handkerchief.
"I'm sorry... I'll do my best. I'll work hard as a Thief!"
The doubt had vanished from Kasumi's eyes.
Whether it was in a Dungeon teeming with monsters or not, she was ready to leap in without fear.
In those harsh yet strangely warm eyes, she felt a promise for the future.
That's when she decided to trust him.

"YES, YES," Kanaho raised her hand.

"HEY! Kanaho! You're NOT going to be an Adventurer, are you?"
"Eh? I WANNA be an Adventurer too!"
"HUMPH," Act snorted.
"I DON'T need kids in my Guild."
"I'm NOT a kid! I'm Kanaho!"
"Kanaho. You CAN'T do anything. Just stay home quietly and wait for your sister to return."
Kasumi knew this was also the Guildmaster's kindness.
He couldn't let a 5-year-old child be injured.
"But but, don't I have some talent?"
"OF COURSE. There's NO human born without talent in this world."
"Then, what's mine? TEACH me!"

Kanaho stuck out her tongue.
Act continued, unfazed.
"Kasumi, don't worry about this child. We have a daycare."
"What is daycare?"
"There are staff and Adventurers who have children. They have dedicated staff and a room to take care of their children."
"A-Amazing..."
"And don't worry about where you'll live. The staff quarters are perfectly fine. An empty room has already been prepared. Katrina will show you to it later."
This is great.
I can relax knowing I can be a proper Adventurer.
"THANK YOU for everything! For real!"
"As long as you work under me, this is your right. No need for thanks."
Act stands up.
"I look forward to your future achievements. You can leave now."
"YES! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Let's go, Kanaho!"
"AH, YES!"
Kasumi takes Kanaho's hand and rises from the sofa, bowing repeatedly.
"Kasumi, hold on a second."
"? Yes?"
"YOU brat. I have something to talk to your sister about. You stay here with Katrina."
"OKAY, OKAY, I understand! Hey, Guildmaster, let's play!"
Kanaho leaves the Guildmaster's room.
A muffled "Auntie! UGH! STOP it! Don't *squish me!"* can be heard from behind the door.
"Uh... Guildmaster, what was that?"
"..."
Act closes his eyes and sighs.
"...NO, it's nothing. Don't worry about it."
"E-EH... Please, tell me anything. I won't mind."
"NO, sorry for stopping you. You can go."
Kasumi doesn't fully understand, but doesn't press further and leaves.
"..."
Act stays alone in the room, sighing.
He touches his Appraisal Eye and looks towards the door.
On the other side, he sees the Oni sisters.
From her younger sister, Kanaho, a terrifying talent shines brightly.
It's a talent that could engulf this Guild, this town... no, this entire country.
It's a gigantic, incredibly potent talent.
He thought that telling the truth to the sisters, especially Kasumi, would be too much of a mental burden.
So, for now, he decided to keep quiet for now.
