Volume 2 Chapter 10-2 The Dismissed Aide and the Foolish Four Heavenly Kings 6

He saw the value in Vivre and detached the soldiers from the North Wall, preparing to strike.

And with a powerful assault, they accomplished the remarkable feat of destroying the North Wall without a single injury.

"It's all thanks to Guildmaster. You're AMAZING, really."

The Restoration Mage, Luna, spoke with admiration.

"As expected from Guildmaster! Everything went perfectly to plan!"

Eli exclaimed with delight, her eyes sparkling.

"Humph! Don't get the wrong idea. The execution squad are the ones who did the WORK!"

"Mr. Ulgar... you truly are unwavering, aren't you..."

However, Act himself simply stated as if it were obvious.

"Don't mistake this. This is your accomplishment. I merely offered ADVICE."

"Eh, oh... well, that's... maybe a little bit of Guildmaster's doing, too... YEAH..."

"Which is it, are you serious?"

As Vivre let out a sigh, Lawrence returned.

 "I'm HOME!"

"Welcome back, Lawrence. Where were you? You came back first, but..."

"Umu! I wanted to give Act a hug, but he dodged me! I circled the STARS and came back!"

The Hero Party stood speechless, stunned.

 "Lawrence."

Act approached the Great Hero and patted his shoulder.

 "Well DONE."

Lawrence's eyes welled with tears, and he began to sob uncontrollably.

 "Ugu... gus... Act... I... WOWOOOOOO!"

Overwhelmed with emotion, Lawrence tried to hug Act.

 But Act effortlessly dodged him.

 "That's CRUEL!"

"Are you trying to turn me into mincemeat, you fellow?"

Lawrence possessed the strength to demolish the North Wall with a single blow.

Obviously, Act's frail body would be crushed.

"You all did very well. I'm proud to have been able to nurture you."

 """"Guildmaster...""""

 Everyone there shed tears.

 Ulgar was crying alone.

"This is the end of my work. I'll leave it to you ALL."

Returning the quiver, Act tries to leave.

"T-That's...! Guildmaster! We still have so much to learn!"

"Y-Yes! There are still 3 more of the Four Kings left, and the Demon King too... Guildmaster, please train us MORE!"

But then, Act stopped in his tracks and turned around, his expression stern.

 "Don't get COMPLACENT."

The weight of his words made the Hero Party flinch, their bodies tensing up.

"Until when do you plan to rely on my strength? Aren't you all the ones banished from my Guild?"

 "W-Well, that's true, but..."

"B-But, you helped us this time, didn't you?"

With a huff, Act snorted dismissively.

"Don't get the wrong idea. It's only because you lot were painfully weak."

Meanwhile, Vivre was scratching his head in confusion.

"Huh? Is this a JOKE? Are you kidding me?"

"If such pathetic warriors like you challenged the Demon King's army and lost, my reputation as your mentor would go down the drain. I only helped because of that."

Act surveyed the other party members.

"My job here is done. Now it's your turn to take on your responsibilities as Heroes."

The Hero's job meant defeating the Demon King and saving the world.

 That was not Act's role.

"Are you saying you're still weak enough to DEPEND on others?"

The expression on the party members' faces changed as they absorbed Act's words.

"Well aren't you something, Guildmaster? Calling us weak? Ha! That's a LAUGH! We've gotten strong enough to take on the Four Kings, haven't we? Right, everyone?"

With strong nods, the Hero Party affirmed him.

Each of them burned brightly with the fire of determination in their eyes.

 "Mr. Act!"

Lawrence stepped forward, representing the group.

"Thank you so much for everything until now!"

He bowed deeply, and his companions followed suit.

Turning away from Act, Lawrence rallied his friends.

"Everyone! We don't know what lies ahead. Having Mr. Act's support during tough times is a stroke of luck we might never encounter again!"

 "So!"

 Lawrence continued.

"From here on out, we face this together! Let's use the abilities we sharpened with Act's training to battle evil with our wisdom and courage, and seize peace and VICTORY!"

 "YEAH!"

 Act didn't look back.

He continued to walk toward the inn.

 "Impressive as always, Master."

 Frederica trailed behind him.

"To think you would intentionally rattle them by mentioning how we defeated the Demon King's Four Heavenly Kings, reminding them to stay sharp..."

"Don't get the wrong idea. I was just annoyed at those guys, celebrating instead of fulfilling their duties."

 She smiled and nodded.

"I understand, Master. Your clumsy kindness isn't just clear to me, but to them as well."

When Frederica glanced back, she saw the Hero Party bowing in their direction.

 But Act never turned around.

 He didn't wave.

He didn't even show a smile.

Everyone present understood that this was Act's way of cheering them on.

"Let's head back, Master. To our precious gems."

 "Yeah. Let's do that."

The next day, Act packed his things and departed from the Royal Capital.
