Volume 4 Chapter 37 ACT.128 Despair (II)

Dominic falls to the ground, unable to even brace himself.

I slowly stand up, breathing heavily.

A black blade is embedded right in his solar plexus.

I twist it hard while pulling it out, and a thick, dark red liquid gushes out like a spring──it's a lethal wound.

I am the one standing here alive, while Dominic lies on the ground, about to breathe his last.

The outcome has never been clearer.

So, the act I am about to do now is something I would *normally* not need to do.

It's not necessary, but still, I want to say it.

"──Misumi Nagamasa, Adachi Haruka, Sasaki Kazuma, Asamine Shigi."

This is my respect and sincerity towards dying Dominic, and without a doubt, it's also pure *malice*.

"Do you recognize these names? Or maybe I should say, do you recognize the grammar?"

 Dominic doesn't answer.

He just looks at me with a puzzled gaze from the pool of blood.

Receiving his silent reply through my cheat ability, I continue talking.

"There are a few rules to reincarnation."

After a long involvement with Reincarnators and fighting, I have come to understand a certain truth.

──The rules of reincarnation, the laws of Reincarnators.

"The soul after death is divided based on the beliefs and views of life and death that were formed in life."

Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists all have *different worlds* of reincarnation.

Furthermore, the destination could also differ based on cultural backgrounds and values.

In fact, all the Reincarnators I have met so far share a common point.

They are all y*oung people from Japan after the year 2000*.

I have never once confirmed a name of someone who died old or someone foreign outside of Japan.

There are very limited and strict criteria for reincarnation.

There may be rules I am unaware of, but one thing is for certain.

"──What did your son believe in?"

In that moment, I noticed Dominic's breathing change.

Yes, in this world, the only faith is in the Goddess of Hope and Order, the Holy Church.

The souls born and lived here have *no place in this world*.

"You said you betrayed the Holy Church for your son, but that's a lie, isn't it?"

His face was pale, maybe from too much blood loss or from despair.

Dominic seemed unaware of his own lies, but that wasn't the truth.

"You wanted to see your son again, to make *amends*, so you joined the Chaos Cult."

To search for his son, who might have been reborn somewhere in this world.

He gave up everything he built to live happily with his son, free from illness.

"Too bad, your son is happily living in another world."

Now, all hope left for Dominic had vanished.

I don't know if the path of his dead son and Dominic's soul now are the same.

If I don't know, then it's the same as "nothing."

 "Ah, ahh!"

I looked down at the poor man's final cry of despair with cold eyes.
