Volume 4 Chapter 32 ACT.123 Assault (Ⅲ)
"There are 2 left..."
In an instant, Dominic's *soul sounds* a loud, piercing alarm.
Now, he finally realizes he has underestimated Rai.
He thought there was room for negotiation, that Rai could switch sides if the situation changed, that he could still *suppress* him.
He was too naive in his understanding, and he's just now realizing it.
"Retreat, perform the ritual at once!"
With determination, he passes Saria to his subordinate for support.
"Hurry up and prepare the Reincarnator!"
"Yes!"
As the subordinate turns to run, Rai has no intention of letting him escape.
"You won't get away──!"
With a swift step forward, a black blade arcs through the air, aiming for the unprotected back.
But this attack is as good as showing his own back to Dominic.
"Quickly!"
Dominic unwraps the package, taking its contents while releasing a flash towards Rai's back.
Detecting the attack, Rai twists his body to avoid it.
However, his strike only deeply cuts the escaping back──it doesn't deal a fatal blow.
Since he couldn't finish Rai off in one hit, Rai immediately gives up on pursuing.
Continuing to turn his back on Dominic is not an option.
Using the twist of his body, he rights himself and faces Dominic again, all while kicking to keep him at bay.
"Kid, aren't you getting too strong?"
Dominic, carrying an expertly handled spear, speaks to Rai with a *casual air*.
But in reality, he has no mental leisure at all.
He's still suffering intense thirst from tension, and his speech is dangerously unstable.
"You might already be the top of the sequence, right?"
Even so, he doesn't stop talking.
To buy time and create an opening for his subordinates to escape, to increase his own chances of winning.
He uses *his words* to stall and create gaps.
Dominic knows more about Rai's weaknesses than before.
He won't be swayed by sweet words or traps.
──But, there's one thing.
"Well, even if you get stronger now, your family *won't come back*."
──Don't touch, there's a hidden danger.
Just a light touch there, and Rai easily gets furious.
"──Die."
In that moment, the dragon (Rai), angered, quietly moves to deal with the intruder.
