"The water from the holy spring has a tiny bit of metal in it, which makes this color by bending the light."
Rai was surprised by a familiar voice coming from behind and turned around.
"Noah!?"
It was Noah Lowe, the Purge Knight, who had been on a mission in Eltor's territory with Rai.
Noah, dressed casually, not in his black armor, winked at Rai with his usual cheerful smile.
Ignoring Rai's shock, Noah continued his explaination.
"Light is actually 7 colors, but this metal makes blue look stronger. That's the latest research."
As he spoke, Noah casually moved closer to Saria.
He gave a bright, charming smile, the kind meant for girls.
"Dating such a cute girl? Looks like the older guy has some luck!"
"Uh, um?"
"Nice to meet you, miss. Let's have a meal together sometime!"
Before Noah finished his line, Rai took action.
He grabbed Noah's arm, trying to touch Saria, and pulled it away.
The sound of tightness came from Rai's hand, like a vice grip.
"Hey, I was just joking! Take it easy."
"I am calm."
"Do you know how scary your face looks?"
Rai released Noah's arm and touched his own face, looking puzzled.
Seeing the younger boy's reaction, Noah grinned like he was up to mischief.
"Oh? Really?"
Rai felt a little annoyed by Noah's smile.
Just when he was about to complain, it was not Rai or Noah who spoke first, but Saria.
"Um, are you Rai's friend?"
"Friend!?"
The unexpected word from her mouth shocked both of them.
While Rai shook his head fiercely to deny it, Noah bowed dramatically to Saria and greeted her again.
"I'm Noah Lowe, Senior Rai's best friend. Nice to meet you."
"You're Rai's best friend?!"
"No way!"
Rai felt a bit annoyed by Noah's cocky attitude.
He grabbed Noah's shoulder and pulled him close to whisper without Saria hearing.
"Noah, why are you here? You're not off duty, right?"
"I just saw you, so I thought I'd mess with you. I'm totally on the job!"
Rai frowned at Noah's words.
"On the job? Doing what?"
"Uh... Pest control, I guess?"
